Am well tired after spending day rehearsing for a play in the park my class are doing next weekend - has been a lot to organise but the kids have really shone today despite having to jump in and out of torrential rain.

Tonight = reports and The Apprentice and reports and sleep (at some point)
    Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
    Emergency fund £1000/£1000
    Savings for big things £9017

Claire - What Cheery said about machines - get a thicker needle (normally shops sell selection packs of needles and a good shop will tell you the weight for denim), your machine will be mainly OK as long as you go slow and it doesn't sound like it is straining. If the needle doesn't hit anything solid in the layers and the feed dog works OK (the bit that moves the material), as long as the needle clears the fabric and you don't have to force it through too much, you should get away with it.

I also think it would be worth asking the local charity shops to check if they get older sewing machines donated. Look for singer or any that are metal. They will be too heavy to lift but once set up they are grand. My friend has her late MIL machine and it is one specifically made for sailmaking, so if you are near the sea and see a machine made by READ, rub your hands with glee :)

[oops - posted all this before I got to the last page]

Greenbee - What about mindfulness for your stress - I have a great book called 'The mindful way through depression and chronic unhappiness'. It's not a snappy happy title, but it does explain the 3 minute breathing space and the body scan (great for insomnia) and the CD is voiced by Jon Kabat Zin!! I'm sure one of the other MSE people who set herself up as a cleaning business was from your part of the world ... I'll see what I can find ... And hot water bottles are great - I have a microwave bear and a horse (both from the charity shop ;) ), saves the burn potential from the kettle!

Cricket - A colleague of mine has a OH who is very high up in Forensic Accounting - I am going to an AGM with her next weekend and if I can ask any questions just let me know.

Yeah for Sunflower ... now get them drunken photos of FB now!

The needles I was using were for jeans, they wern't expensive ones though, so perhaps that was the trouble.

Hi all, Sunflower glad it went well and Crickett GET IT IN THE POST lady!

Call went really well and the agency are passing my CV to the store so its up to them now. The timescale may be a bit out but we'll see!!!

Had a great day at work today, did some merchandising and then sold, sold, sold. Finished at 2 and having a nice chilled evening with my bath and some grooming to fit in.

Bitsy you do grand love and some days are NOT that exciting or productive here either, for what its worth. X

    16% Whoop!

I've made this one - it was hard to be honest, the corners were difficult http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=182493.0

and this one, which was easy, looks good, and I take my lunch to work in it every day :Dhttp://www.purlbee.com/apple-picking-tote/ (I used cm instead of inches though, to make it smaller and more lunch bag sized)

Sunflower - You go girl :T

Marru - Will be sending you vibes for tomorrow xxx

Crickett/Souk - thanks peeps, I think it's really my little inner gremlin talking. Many of you sound right in the thick of it at work, very knowledgable and academic and the gremlin likes to compare and make me feel my life is really rather small and boring :o:o

Claire - My messenger bag was from here and it was REALLY easy. Trust me this was the very first thing I've ever made on my own (without my mum there for moral support) and I haven't sewed since I was 9 years old so if I can do it I am pretty sure as heck you can ;)
