Forensic Accounting. Yawn - that sounds too much like audit to me... double yawn!

Whoops - shouldn't have said that, this is an enthusiastic thread. Sorry. x

That does sounds fascinating Crickett - I have briefly wondered in the past about exploring furthering my interest in photography by finding out what would be required to get a qualification in forensic photography (slightly more potentially....err.....gooey :o....than what you're considering!) so I can understand the interest of getting into that sort of field.

SunFlower it's probably too late now in any case but if worst comes to worst disable the ani-virus thingy and take a chance just while you visit the sites you need. Not ideal, but if that's your only option.

Claire - when sewing through your multiple layers of denim on the bags consider turning the wheel which carries the belt on the machine by hand - ie as you might if just wanting to be sure of getting a single stitch on something - that way you can feel the level of the resistance in a way that you can't through your foot on the pedal, and will know if it is *really* too hard for the machine to get through, or if it's just a speed thing. I also remember noting a few days ago you were talking about using corduroy for some more bags - if you do bear in mind that when you sew it with the two front faces together it will "travel" - the same applies to velvet - they are "directional" fabrics. If you're not ultra careful you will end up with seams/hems "skewing.

Have spent the morning knocking out local authority and drainage searches for conveyancing matters. I know people have to buy houses but my god the legwork leading up to it is as dull as ditchwater! :p Several more of the same to do before I can get onto some confusing Court of Protection forms that I don't *quite* know what I am meant to be doing with! Ah well, I assume I'll work it out eventually!

FOOD: Last nights dinner was as planned - smoked salmon salad with toasted pittas, followed with cheese and crackers. Went off track slightly with the remaining korma mix but at least it's gone now so won't be jumping around aying "eat me" tonight! :D Lunch today has been a ham roll, followed by my usual array of fruit. If nothing else my 5 a day is coming along well! I'm carrying my phone about with me today with the pedometer running so I can see how active I am in a normal office-based day. It's standing at 1700 steps so far. Might tell OH we're going for a walk this evening actually _ I have a friend on facebook who is also trying the "eat healthily and get fitter" thing at the moment so w're comparing notes - if she can get out for a walk after work then there is no reason why I can't! :D

LOL! Well, I have an auditors soul - never happier than when I have three signatures and multiple dates! - it's how I started out in accountancy. Plus, when I was still a Law Student, I had some work experience at the Serious Fraud Office... and I loved it! :D

Wow! Crickett. :j:j That sounds really interesting and I can 'hear' that your soul is singing at the idea.:T:T

MaryB : I used to employ people for data analysis who could 'spot a glitch' as I described it.

Cheery : good news potentially for you too. :j

Greenbee : Really good news.

Sunflower : Lots of vibes to calm you and help you stay awake.

As old Mr Grace would have said "You're all doing very well." Now I'm showing my age!
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

Do you know, you absolutely SHOULD have said that if that's the way you think of it - it's great that a lot of the thread is positive and enthusiastic but if people feel that they need to start apologising for being anything else, it's doomed to become one of those awful touchy feely huggy kissy FLUFFY threads where there are (apparently) always blue skies and bunnies and everything negative is left to fester! (I feel quite strongly that this shouldn't be allowed to happen...had you guessed?!) :D

Don't worry, we all feel like that about some things... Microsoft contracts springs to mind :o

me too... data validated from at least three different sources, audit trail, evidence. I quite liked working on forensic IT investigations in my last job. Like you and maryb I find the numbers don't come naturally, but the I get the concepts, and know what I want to acheive ... I just need other people to actually DO the stuff!

Positive vibes for Sunflower as I type. Hope you're blowing their socks off as I "speak" :D

Greenbee - Really pleased everything is OK, just look after yourself xx

Nothing to report here, just the usual time on the old hamster wheel doing the same thing day in day out. You all seem to have so much to report when basically most of my days are the same. Not even had time to get stuck into more sewing :( Got bunting I want to make for DD's birthday party in July and have decided to make fabric party bags.........why oh why when I never seem to have time do I set myself these seemingly impossible goals :rotfl:

I should be studying but sneaked here. So much I could/should say but nothing really to add to the words of wisdom of others. Just want to add to all the commiserations and congratulations. And also sending positive vibes to all those needing them. (I wouldn't mind getting some when I am sitting my Financial Management exam tomorrow from 10am to 1 pm - the working capital is not too bad but the share stuff is going a bit over the head :o)

So I have 2h 36 minutes of question practise left before I need to pick up DD. More tea...

    Marru,

Just try and memorise the formulae of the share ratios. It will click into place when you are doing the exam. Or at least... it did for me! :) All the very best of luck for the exam though.
