Happy birthday Claire!! Hope you get spoiled rotten.

I am soooo bored. We have the busiest time at work starting on Tuesday after the bank hol and I have done all I can to prepare for it but running out of ideas now what more to do. Sadly the layout of the office makes studying difficult. I might try later reading some lecture notes online and see if that looks like working. Sigh!

  • hi all, haven't been on in a while and have been a bit down in the dumps with lots to think about.

happy birthday to Claire, hugs to fantasia for what you have been wrestling with and glad things are coming together, hugs to Bitsy's parents and the poor little cat. MG glad the school visit went well for your DS. those are the main ones I can remember - am lurking away honest :T

I know you all came up with some wonderful positive thinking for fantasia when she was in the adoption process of her beautiful Dane (Bailey I think?), so am hoping this is a good place to start. my beautiful but geriatric greyhound who I share with my ex hubby, is on his last, wobbly legs and we don't think he will last much longer. He is 12 and they are lucky to last past 9 normally.

I have been unable to have a dog full time because of my work commitments and financial situation, so sharing custody of the dog has worked well, but finances are startign to ease (touch wood) so I am researching the cost of dog walkers/sitters.

greyhounds are notoriously lazy so I think I would jsut need someone to stick their head round the door and let them out for a dash round the garden and a sprinkle of the flowers. I would need them 3 days a week initially - my dog is very comfortable being left but I can't make the same assumption about another dog.

I'm not looking to replace my boy before he has even left us but am just weighing up the options as I don't think I will be able to bear life with no long noses at my elbows :(

I live in a small village but don't really know anyone there and wouldn't really want to put a card up advertising as I would be nervous about screening people etc. I would be really interested to hear from you all. Thank you x

Claire - do you have a double or a Kingsize bed???? ........................ only I picked up a double duvet set off the pound rail today in burgundy - a lovely slubbed silk thingie. Wrong colour for me but was only going to chop it up for crafting.

We would of course need photies of your boudoir on the ther side of course LOL

    MG

I thought of you today when I was in our local BHF shop and I saw a silky burgundy duvet set. But sit down while I tell you how much they wanted for it - £14.99!!!!! I'm not sure it can have cost much more than that new since it was from Primark. None of our charity shops are cheap - and Oxfam have such a rigid pricing policy that they will sometimes have stuff priced at MORE than it cost new
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Quite often dog walkers advertise in the news agent windows. In my local one there are 3 adverts. Best way is to bump into someone while on walkees. So from now on every time you meet another doggy person just say that you are considering getting someone to let you dog out during lunch break. Word will spread and somebody will know someone.

I used to do dogwalking and when out and about had my cards with me to give out and that way got the most lovely client that then turned out to become my best friend.

  • thanks Marru - I can have a look in the Post Office and shop next time I am there. Where i live is a bit out on a limb and I am out so early in the morning on doggy days that I rarely see anyone else!

I really have no idea of what it may cost, that's the main thing.

I HAVE CARPET IN MY BOUDOIR :j:j

It looks so lovely - and the carpet fitters only took £30 to lay it all and move the sofa and bed back in so that my guests will be comfortable when they arrive. I think they were here about 25 minutes in total :D

I can't wait until DS2's room is done and we can all get moved upstairs.:T

So this afternoon I will be mostly bedmaking and prettifying a MSE room for MSE guests :D

    Afternoon everyone.

Not had the best morning, all things considered.

I was doing so well with the eating and the exercise and then I came into work and was totally (and I mean, totally) ignored by the people in my team. So, instead of acting like an adult and thinking "It's their problem, not mine" I devoured two bags of sweets. In their entirety. !!!!!! is up with that?! I know that gorging on junk food is not going to help, but I do it anyway. Sigh. Well, this is not going to derail me. I am going to do my 30 minutes of exercise tonight and I will not sabotage this effort like I usually do. And besides, the sweet bags were 80g each. Not like a family size pack of Skittles at 500g each or anything. Still. Annoyed with myself.

Have just finished my first run through my portfolio with the red pen. I have several adjustments and changes to make, which I am going to add to my to do list and get on with in the next few days. Then I need to compile it, get my boss to okay it and then get it copied and bound and sent off. I am getting really close to getting this finished. Yay!! :D:D

Right, back to it. See you tomorrow, if I don't pop back in later.

    Congrats on the boudoir MG!

Crickett of COURSE that's not going to get the better of you! You've acknowledged it was a daft thing to do, you can now move on from it - are there any changes you can make to your planned meals or snacks later through the day to make up for the lapse? If so, make them, if not then fine - carry on from now afresh. Did you go and buy the sweets or were they there waiting to cause trouble? I'm a big believer in the fact that sweets, crisps and chocolate (and cheese, for me personally) are crafty little blighters that are quite happy to lurk around the fridge or larder waiting to incite riot when they see their chance.....DON'T LET THEM WIN! :D (And if this happens again, rather than opening your mouth to pop a sweet in, open it and say "everything alright chaps? There seems to be a bit of a funny atmosphere in here this morning?" ;)) On a far brighter note well done on your portfolio - you've been so productive on this - just goes to show all of us what can be achieved when minds are firmly set on a course! :T
