Inapickle... I'd definitely ask, it's a bit out of order to suddenly drop an advertised wage by 3k!! Just word it in a good way, which I'm rubbish at :)

    Cheers, psychopath babble. ;)

To be honest, if I get the job I'm seriously considering not taking it for that reason. I think it has been done for cynical reasons, and for a graduate in the industry it's in, it's a pittance. I'm not sure if I have the right to say 'When I saw it on the site it said £18K, and that's the salary I'm applying for', and let them turn me away for £15K, cos that's a pretty bad way to treat people. Having said that, I hate my current job and am looking to move away, and it's a 'professional' job that will look better on my CV than what I'm currently doing, which is not in the slightest bit professional.

I'll see what it's like when I get there, and scope it out a bit, I guess.

I would just query it, state that you originally saw it advertised at 18k but have since seen it for 15k and you were wondering if you got the job what your actual salary would be, was there a reason for changing it?

There is usually a point at which they ask you if you have any questions, it's worth bringing it up.

Busy day sorting out some school frogs - well at least lining them up in order of priority to get done.

Am pretending to be a mum this week as itchy and scratchy are at school all week so I am taking them and picking them up (very rare). Am definitely meant to be a working mum as I found it very underwhelming and found myself getting annoyed that hometime was at such a silly time i.e. when I was right in the middle of something - normally when I'm on the other side of the school door hometime can't come soon enough:rotfl:Wasn't helped by the fact ds is in nursery so starts at 12.25 so drop off dd 9am, arrive home for 9.30, 11.30 make lunch for ds, 12.00 set off for nursery, arrive home again 1pm, set off for school again 3pm, arrive home 4pm - mental! Any SAHM you have my admiration and my profound sympathies:TI seriously could not do that on a daily basis and maintain any sanity.

Mr M has fed us tea as we got soaked getting to car after school and we needed hot food quickly. Tonight is a brew then down to housey/schoolwork.

Ladies, I need a bit of advice: the job I'm testing for was originally advertised at £18K, but when I looked on the website for a second time, it had dropped to £15K.

It could have been a mistake, and call me cynical but I think it was done on purpose as I think there has been a fair bit of interest. I think I should bring it up and see what they say as TBH, £15 isn't much more than what I'm on at the minute, and it's for full time, and I want to rent my own place and £15K would make it difficult to do. When I guestimated how much I would need to earn to live on my own, I came up with a fugure between £18-19K.

    What do you think?
go through the process, and if they offer you the job ask how much. If they offer you £18k then fine. If they offer £15k tell them that when you applied it was advertised at £18k. Be nice for now, and if nothing else the process will be good experience.

They may have advertised it at two different salaries to see what they get... Or there may be too roles. But it's not an issue until (I nearly said 'unless' but that's not positive is it?:o) you get the job.

One more call in 10 minutes and then I'm done for the week... Just need to pack my stuff for hospital tomorrow :(

MG - glad all went well for DS1 - it is a good school he's going to & to be honest - on ce the other kids realise that he's switched on then he'll probably start a small business doing their homework etc for them :p

Is it OK to pop up on Sat for the nappies or do you need rid of them before then?

Still just one bid on e-bay but lots of watchers & 1 e-bayer stalking the watchers :D

Must go now & tie down the house before it blows away - & am thinking about taking the chainsaw to work with me tomorrow to ** ahem ** tidy the roads up on the way in :)

I would agree with Greenbee -- when they offer you the job, check on the salary at that point :)

Out of interest, if it was £15k, would you take it anyway (bearing in mind you dislike your current one so much)?

Either way, there's nothing wrong with using one job as a spring board to something better!

Its wild this way too - DS1 was sent outside to carry in the pot tomatoes before they got completely trashed.

WE have been watching "West Side Story" today - and tomorrow we will be onto the Baz Luhrman "Romeo and Juliet" - starting him "watching" rather than reading.

Although I am lusting after this : http://www.amazon.co.uk/BBC-TV-Shakespeare-Collection-DVD/dp/B000B6F8V4/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1306173646&sr=1-1

What a collection - although I am not convinced that it wouldn't be more for me than for DS1 :o

Maybe when I have got rid of the Big Horse debt I will treat myself.

Off to try and rescue the bins

I have finished the patchwork quilt :) although I think it may need to be edged with biased binding as the edges arn't that good.

When I am making cot quilts I make the patchwork front, iron it well and lay it flat face up.

I then put the backing face down on top of the patchwork and the batting on top. Sew 9/10 ths of the way around the outside seam - like making a pillowcase. Trim the batting closely into the stitching line and then turn the whole thing through - slip stich the opening and then quilt as you would normally.

I love the look of bia's bound quilts - but frankly feel life is too short to slipstich the back of the tape all the way around.

I also make little kid duvet covers in patchwork - all the benefits of cute patchwork and none of the trouble quilting because it slips over a duvet................... sorry getting ahead of myself, but hope the above makes sense.

Big flask is filled, candles are looked out and boys are showered and jammied - TV recepion is very dodgy and electric is flickering because of the strong winds so I am going to sign off, turn off the lappy and hunker down.

See you in the morning (hopefully with a roof still)

EH - I can't do breakfast at 6.30am either. I have juice before I leave the house and a banana after the gym. When I worked in an office rather than at home I used to take breakfast into work - muesli, fruit and yogurt in a pot.
