Tsk! Have you never heard that three's a crowd?! ;)

Busy weekend - we were out with friends last night as it was MrEH's best pal's 40th - we went out intending that we were going to treat him to a meal only for him to tell us at the outset that it was HIS treat which was a marvellous - and unexpected - surprise as the place they had chosen to go was rather outwith our price bracket! Stayed over at theirs last night and got back home here at about 3pm today after battling back through atrocious traffic in Central London. Dashed back out to the camping shop for heavy duty tent pegs as it just occurred to us that with all the terribly dry weather it would be just our luck to get to our campsite only to find concrete hard ground and no chance of getting the pegs to hold. Anyway we are now the proud (?) owners of a set of 4 rock pegs so that'll be the main guys taken care of at least! :rotfl: From there it was pottering about in the gadren, breadmaker on, muffins baked and an evening of watching the Polish speedway on the internet whilst checking through the camping gear.

Food last night was a little out of my control but was delicious - potted crab with sourdough bread starter, a truly delicious gourmet style burger with blue cheese and french fries, and Eton Mess for pudding. (just a (disappointingly) tiny portion of that though so not too bad.) Breakfast this monring was also out of my control and was croissants....:o Lunch was skipped as we had a good size breakfast and tea was a BLT sandwich with lots of lettuce and tomato and a good dollop of extra-low-fat Mayo and a packet of crisps, followed by one of the muffins I'd just made and an about to go out of date Lemon mousse. That's the last of the mousses (mice?) eaten though so there are now more of those to be tempting! Tomorrow's lunch is an egg mayo & cress sandwich and lots of fruit. :p

Right, bed's calling. Night ladies - sleep tight! xx

Bleurgh!!! Rainy and cold - not the nice sunny and showers of yesterday. Somehow rain on a Monday morning just feels pants.

Still the garden will really appreciate it - everything looks very perky now.

Got a funny morning - DS1 and are off to visit the local High School and I think he is fretting a little - I hope he reacts well to the tour and finds his voice to ask the questions he wants answered. His main ones yesterday were "Do you think they will have a library?" and "Do you think I'm small for my age and will get picked on?"

It's 16 months away and he is already worried about being builled :( Hope the lady doing hte tour is on the ball and gives him a straight answer rather than fobbing him off with the "we don't tolerate bullying here" stock answer.

If I sound rather cynical its because my Auntie worked there and I know there was a culture of bullying in the faculty - so to assume anythig else within the student body is not really logical.

Last night his biggest question was "Is it a good school -because you know I want to go on to University - and I don't want to waste my chance?"

................... and how did I get to have a boy that is old enough to start looking at High Schools anyway??????:rotfl::rotfl:

Well hope the rain goes off - because I have eight Chinese Cabbages that could be done with moving outside :D I'd forgotten how busy a garden gets this time of year.

Dad (and Fantasia) start their new jobs today - so good luck to both of you ................... hope you both have great days.

Later ladies - bys needing to be fed.

Bit windy here so going to keep a close eye on my hanging baskets.

Went to the garden centre but couldn't bring myself to spend over £2.50 per plantpot:eek: so tomatoes now planted into growbags with 2 litre pop bottles cut off at both ends topped up with compost to make the depth up. They seem to be doing ok.

But we saw a lovely blue ceramic pot full of herbs. It was £9.99, but elsewhere the empty pots were the same price so we treated ourselves and now have lots of mint, chives. resemary and thyme to add to the coriander, parsley, basil and more mint that we had planted already (and it looks pretty too so an added bonus).

Food wise yesterday had a blip with a couple of reduced caramel mini eggs:mad:. Had porridge and berries for breakfast, a banana at lunchtime and pork, new potatoes carrots and asparagus for dinner.

    Good morning

Not much planned for me today, a quick tidy around, and hopefully more patchwork, I don't think my first attempt is any good to sell as some of the squares arn't matching.

Well, it seems that my CV attempts have paid off: I got an e-mail just after I sent it (midnight on Saturday - does the boss never sleep?!) that I didn't receive until late last night as I didn't check my inbox asking me to go to the office for psychometric testing tonight. Little yay, but big boo as it's taking time out of diong my homework that I just don't have. :( And I'm in work for 10.

OMG who stole summer - it's blowin' a hooley out there, cold too :eek::eek:

Well it's painting on the agenda here at Thrifty Towers today.

Bless ds1, it's a real big step, moving to high school. One question that he could ask is if they run a "buddy" system or a "mentor" system where ds1 teams up with another young person his own age and where they have a mentor who is a couple of years older than them - it all helps with the transition especially in those first few weeks.

Ok, off we go again. Have a good day everyone.
