    Good morning

Have had a quick clean around, done a load of washing which is now in the tumble drier as it is raining here :(

I'm still feeling shattered, but I think it is the pain killers I'm taking as the injection is wearing off I'm back to taking more pain killers and they make me feel drowsy.

Going to finish the other Apron I cut out yesterday today and hopefully have a go at doing some patchwork now I have some squares. Although I'm not sure the squares match each other I think I will lay the pattern out and post a pic on here for opinions before I sew, if that's ok with you all.

MG your ds1 sounds like he has some good plans ahead, wish my boys would learn new things instead of coming in and putting tv or games console on. Although ds2 can cook a few meals and has more interests like his veg than ds1.

Oooh Crickett, how very exciting! :T :T

Good luck at the hospital Dora

    <waves to everyone>

Working at home today - so my mission is to FOCUS. I have my weekly list, and my daily list :D And there's one main task I need to get done today, so need to concentrate on that, and not let all the little tiny things fill the whole day!

(also need to do some washing, sort out car breakdown cover, pop to the post office, but they will NOT take me off track!)

How about a trip to Stratford Upon Avon? Royal Shakespeare Company, Anne Hathaway's Cottage etc et al?

I am off to Stratford Upon Avon this morning :D OK I am going to the retail units on the outside of the town but still, I am sure if I sniff the air I'll pick up some history:D
Shakespeare is buried in Holy Trinity Church although the "voluntary" £2 charge to see his headstone is a wee bit steep (they have a man sitting to the entrace so you can't pass unless you pay........voluntary.......my @rse )
Anyway there's lots lovely building in Stratford, the river is lovely and the RSC theatre has just been re-built. It's one of my favourite local places which also has a lovely large park and play area the other side of the river. Sorry waffled a bit there :o:o

Anyway we are heading off shopping this morning as DS appears to have grown several inches in just a few weeks. None of his jeans fit him, they look like they've fallen out with his ankles so off to get some reasonably priced jeans we go :)

Not much else going on here, like Dora we are plodding but I like plodding :D Can't keep up a manic pace ALL the time ;) Especially not when DS keeps waking at night.

Dorastar - Hope hospital appointment goes OK xxx

Crickett - Exciting stuff :D Hope you get to see Sir DA :)

Have a wonderful day everyone :)

I am excited about the VIPs... but I just hope i don't hear Sir David speaking. :o His voice really, really annoys me on his television programmes. I'm sorry... I just can't help it!! :D

Oh, I love DA. I might happen to own nearly all his DVDs!

I don't like to watch any other wildlife programmes than his, because they aren't "the same".

That Brian Cox chappy is alright though, in a geeky kind of way :)

    Morning all..

Hope it goes well today Dora x

Exciting stuff Crickett! And good portfolio vibes for later :)

MG - does DS like Dr Who? I just got this - http://www.nickhernbooks.co.uk/index.cfm?nid=new-titles&catid=&isbn=9781848422001 - as I'm going to see David Tennant and Catherine Tate in Much Ado About Nothing next weekend (little bit excited! :D:D). The book is really good, with quite funny interviews and the music for the songs etc.. don't know if he'd find it interesting, anyway you can get a 20% discount with a code from here (http://tennantnews.blogspot.com/2011/05/much-ado-nothing-book-artwork.html), think it worked out about £6.50 with postage.

Oh and my meal suggestion is some sort of paella/ risotto dish - my grandma taught me to cook 'risotto' when I was quite young, one summer when we were on holiday in their caravan, cooking on a tiny hob.. not like proper squidgy risotto but tasty... basically soften onions, pepper and bacon in a little bit of oil, put rice in and coat it in oil, add stock and cook till rice is ready, sometimes put some cooked chicken and other veg or herbs depending on what was around.. happy memories :)

Right, must do some work - quite unmotivated on that front this week. At least I am motivated with studying - 1500 words done by last night, so I can leave essay for a few days and go back to finish it off :)

I have a meeting this morning and then I have booked the afternoon for Portfolio duties. I am not looking forward to that bit, but I just have to get on and chomp that frog for once and for all! It is really getting somewhere though. It really is just one section to write and then the finishing touches to put to things. I can see the end of the tunnel!! :D If it wasn't for this thread and you lovely people the portfolio would still be languishing at the bottom of my work cupboard! :D So, thank you, all of you.

    RANDOM LIST

DS1 is starting to think of places things he would like to do in his "gap year" :rotfl:

    So far:

He would like to learn about Shakespeare ( so if anyone has any on tape / DVD that they can lend him to watch that would be fabulous) He can pay for postage himself now BTW :D

He would like to go and see a play at The Globe in London.

He would like to visit "The Giants Causeway" as part of his Geography Studies.

He is also desperate to learn to cook more - so he wants to learn how to cook one new dish per week (which I am all for cos I figure by the time he goes to HS he could be cooking 2 dinners a week :rotfl:)

So suggestions for a list of 52 dishes would be wonderful.

Big Frog for us today - we are setting up our Blogs (DS1 and I) so will keep you posted.

ETA: Added yesterdays spendies on to my signature - up a penny, but seems to be a reasonable level for us. Better get the BM etc earning their keep again.

MG - if you PM me your email address, I've got a fun email circular going on about recipes - where you only forward the email to people who would be interested and then just email ONE recipe to the top person. And that's it :) So therefore, depending on how many you send it on to, you could end up with 100s of recipes :)

Crickett - you go girl. Another one of the clan with letters after there name is what we want here.

MG - I love Shakespeare. Afraid I dont have anything on video though. Would also recommend West Side Story as a retelling of Romeo and Juliet, in fact a young girl a mentored who was dyslexic and struggling in English also loved dance. She was studying Romeo and Juliet and I told her to watch Westside Story - she totally got it after that. Passed her exams too. I have been to the Globe quite a lot. As some of you know I go to the proms every year as often as I can and I usually combine at least one trip with a trip to the Globe. Last year I saw Merry Wives of Windsor and it was hilarious. I only ever buy the £5 ticket and stand in front of the stage. If you get in early enough and stand by the theatre doors you are usually lucky enough to get the best spot in the house. As part of his education fund have you thought about a weekend (weekday) break to London where you could go to the proms (£5 for the gallery or arena if you queue up on the day) and also the Globe. The proms also have pre proms talks where conductors and musicians talk about the piece that is to be played ( I think they are mostly free) and sometimes they have workshops. There are often family proms too. Last year a young girl who was learning the piano stood with me in the gallery and we had the most amazing chat about Mozart. She was 10. You could also stay at the Meininger Youth Hostel (family rooms available as well as dorms) which is right next door to the Natural History Museum. I have been known to do London on less than £100 for 3 days and that included eating. If you want any information about the proms programmes google BBC Proms.
As for the Last Night it also costs £5 but you have to have 6 ticket stubs to show when buying the ticket. You then have to register and queue up all day but that is part of the fun. I now have lifelong friends from across the Globe who I met in queues at the proms. Including a concert pianist, a doctor, a phycisist and a housewife. There can be no better way to socialise DS1 as far as I can see.
