Good morning ladies
Sorry I've not been posting for a few days. I've had raging cystitis and felt horrid over the past few days. The first lot af antibiotics I was given didn't work and it wasn't till I had a different one that I started feeling semihuman again.
Goodness me - this thread has moved. So many people need hugs, commiserations or congratulations. So many people feeling hormonal!! Everyone dreads the menopause but, I have to confess, that when I read your posts I was so pleased to have arrived at a point where these things are behind me!! There are things about growing older to look forward to!!!!
Marru has a new home, Claire has started an apron factory and Crickett is feeling a bit more settled. To pick out these three ladies is perhaps unfair on all the rest who are moving forward with their lives - but I can't hog the thread with a huge long post.
For myself - I saw the consultant yesterday and have to have further surgery on my spine. It is scheduled for the end of the month and I have to go to one of the London hospitals rather than somewhere more local. Luckily we are only about 30 miles from London so it could be worse.
So this morning. with the sky a cloudless blue and the sun showing off my garden to its best, I'm feeling more peaceful. For one thing I slept through the night without being up and down to the loo, shivvering, headache, rigors. A good night's sleep has worked it's magic. The last few nights the cystitis has been a nightmare. I have a chance of vastly reducing, if not eliminating, my back pain - although I'm not looking forward to the process I am looking forward, cautiously, to the results. The only slight reservation I have on this one is that everything that has been tried to date has had limited success. I need to let this go and be confident about the future.
I'm hoping to be able to get on with my life after this.
Have a good day

Morning all.
Dont get on here much on the late afternoon/evening as I like to spend time with OH and we have made a pact to sit down to dinner properly since I didnt used to get home til late when I was working. All the chat seems to happen when I am not here..........
Bitsy, I have loved John Cusack since Grosse Point Blank, and I love him in Serendipity which for me is a real chic flick. Love it love it love it. And Hugh Jackman on Oklahoma on stage
Crickett, Friday night tv for us is the Mentalist, and while blonde men tend not to be for me (Jonny Wilkinson excepted - love a rugby player) The Mentalist is escapist and has some cute policemen which is an added bonus.
Hope that the Farmers Market goes well today Claire.Love the aprons.
Love the chat about what to wear to work at home. I never could do dress down days at work as I couldn't work "properly" in casual clothes. However I also could not settle to work properly if I was not at my desk befor 8.30, so I think it must just have been me.
MG and Bitsy, you brought back many memories of early mornings. I spent many mornings with an early rising DS watching Dappledown Farm because it was on TV at daft oclock when he woke up. Now he is grown up I think he only ever sees that time at the end of a long evening rather than at the start of the day:rotfl:
Goinjg to the DIY place shortly as we need to try and replumb the bathroom now the roll top bath has finally gone so hope everyone has a good day.0 -
We have a family wedding today
DD has the most gorgeous dress from Xara - only £29, but she looks stunning
I'm wearing a frock from last year, same heels new bag & fascinator, a vision in nude(I did not buy Beatrice's fascinator from e-bay!)
Lots of money spent yesterday (flat tyre ) and supper out with girlfriends who don't stint themselves, and then divide the bill 4 ways......
But £5.90 in Quidco money :j0 -
That's one of my pet peeves OO - people stuffing their faces and then demanding to split the bill.... One went out with a group from another forum, and one of the women's husbands had 3 courses, wine, ice cream, coffee... We met in London, so it had already been expensive to get there, I was only working 2 days a week, and had had a small pizza and a glass of water (and enjoyed myself no less than he did). He assumed we'd split the bill, I said I'd rather stay out of it, and he looked down his nose at me! I couldn't help but point out that my meal had cost £8, whereas if we split the bill, I'd be paying £21 - and therefore subsidising his opulent dinner. Don't think I made him see the error of his ways, but I did only pay £8
Claire - good luck at the farmers market! Do let us know how you get on :T
susan - (((((((((())))))))))) sorry to hear you've been sufferingCystitis really is vile, and on top of everything else too
Hope they sort you out soon
Crickett - glad to hear you had a lovely night with your husband :T
Hope you've all got a few cheerful things planned for today. I'm just making bread, and cleaning the house  as my mum is arriving today for the weeknd. I've got a list of gardening jobs for her to help me with0 -
Morning all - icklies up and fed, WM on and have started on the room of doom (our bedroom) so today is a pottering and doing day.
TAKE THAT TICKETS HAVE ARRIVED - KEEP STARING AT THEM
Ds has got gymnastics so going to nip to a few shops and return a few things then transfer £ I get back into wall fund - dh should also get paid today so might swipe some from the joint account and move it sideways where it can grow more interest.
Then it's Doctor Who and Eurovision - Ideal night in our house -dd is already drawing up our voting slips. Sadly I am usually not far off with my predictions although this only works on Eurovision and not on lottery!
Thanks for the reminder about T&S saying hourglass ladies should dress 'properly' - was just about to sling on old Take That t-shirt and fleece but am now off to find something more glam in the wardrobe.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
Emergency fund £1000/£1000
Savings for big things £90170 -
Cheery, I was once reluctant to go out with the girls, but they persuaded me because "it's only £15", so I had the set £15 meal and tap water, my bill was £28..................when I objected I was so thoroughly castigated it was a good 9 months before I was "available" for another night out.
They're good fun and good friends, but were totally thoughtless that night and I looked like a party pooper :cool:0 -
I now know how easy my house is to break into
Mowers were collected for servicing (mine and a neighbours) - one of many frogs finally dealt with - and I went round the back to come in, to find I'd locked the back door (needs fixing as it doesn't stay shut without locking. Kitchen window was also shut, as was shed (no ladders) so had to break in at the front... Must remember not to go out without either keys or phone in future!
Luckily no one saw... I'm off out now for a hair cut and colour, then seeing friends. Tomorrow I'm meeting friends at the farmers' Market then visiting my DB and nephew. Not sure when the housework, gardening, laundry etc are supposed to be done...
Hope everyone has a successful and productive day.0 -
Oooh!!! Family Wedding - hope there will be lots of dodgy dancing with Uncles - or in my family its lots of dancing with dodgy Uncles!!!
2 loads out on the line, bed stripped and in WM.. BM on with lunchtime loaf, then I will make pizza dough for tonight, Yogurt maker on, and bargain 0.98 piece of brisket in slow-cooker for Sunday Dinner. (was reduced to £2.98 - but I had a £2.00 Mr T voucher, so a special treat)
Going to rustle up some soup and turn contents of fridge into freezer goodies.
Then depending on my back I am aiming to do some more writing - or some sewing - we will see how much life there is in the old brain by the time I am done.
Have a productive Saturday ladies.
First - coffee!!!!

Entirely thoughtless OO - I suppose that's how some people end up in debt!
Oh dear greenbee! :rotfl:0 -
Morning all, sunny here and I am feeling "up for anything".
OO and Cheery. I also have some tales about "friends" who insist on pigging out then expecting me to foot their bill. I lost a couple of friends because I absolutely refused to pay £20 towards a bill when mine had only come to £9 because I had deliberately chosen the cheapest options. I had just split from my ex and was struggling at the time. We had not agreed beforehand how the bill would be paid so I stuck to my guns. I figure that had they been true friends then they would have understood. Since then I always stipulate at the beginning of the evening that I will be paying my own way.
MG - If you are planning to do a blog about your life in general then you might want to check out the Meanqueen blog here http://meanqueen-lifeaftermoney.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html. She is quite amazing and what she does on very little money is mind boggling. This is part of her opening blog in January 2009 and it spoke volumes to me. I think she would be a great addition to the Matrix too. Please join me on my frugal journey, I am going to record just how I live my life on very little money. I'm not setting any targets, or making any rash statements like living on a £1 a day, it will be a true story of how it really is. Don't expect me to be complaining about how expensive the cost of living is, or how fed up I am of having no money, that won't happen. Instead I want to open your eyes to the pleasures of a simple life, the enjoyment you can have out of life's free gifts, and how I wake up each day looking forward to the day ahead. See you later. IlonaSome days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0
