Don't misunderstand me - swearing at anyone (even an über-8itch colleague) is ALWAYS wrong. BUT - everyone makes mistakes. If we never, ever, made an error we would not be human - we would be divine - and that is impossible.
Anyone who has made a mistake should always have the opportunity to explain themselves fairly and apologise before judgement is pronounced upon them.
I still wish the OP the very best of luck - Harddy has already said that he/she was employed by the firm for three years before this incident took place. Personally, although what they said was very wrong, I think they've suffered enough.
Harddy - Let us know how you get on - and, !!!!!!, don't do it again!

First, I will wait for the hearing, then if the dismissal was decided I will then challenge that, because I do believe that the woman is evil and I will try to do my bit, I will file for the Employment Tribunal and gather all the evidence (I already have some) favouritism, bullying, ageism, all the 3 are taking place.0 -

I did in many occasions, I even went as far as raising grievance aginst her, but was told that there is not enough evidence, the director (backing her up of course) said that no witnesses came forward, the evidence was overwhelming, was told to forget the past and move on ...
This is not as easy as it may sound. It is like "banging your head against a brickwall", this very expression was mentioned to me by colleagues manytimes when they knew about me challenging the situation.0 -

Just go into the hearing, tell the truth, and apologise, don't get into any previous grievance procedures or you'll just end up looking like a moaner who doesn't like having a female boss. If you don't tell the truth they'll have you for not having any integrity. If no-one else came forward last time, they might have you down as a bit of a stirrer, i'm not saying you are, just looking at it from the managements side and this latest issue may be what they're looking for to get rid of you, you need to be careful, i'm sure you already know that.
You'll have to bite your tongue but if you want to keep your job, you can't do anything else. Good luck.0 -

DVardysShadow wrote: »I am far from convinced that harddy's employer have even appointed a good manager in the first place. Without condoning harddy [and he should not use this in his defence], I feel there was a degree of provocation. And if someone does get frustrated and let out a wrong word, a half decent manager would want to resolve the underlying issue and restore a constructive working relationship. Only if harddy persisted in saying cufking or similar would a good manager take it to HR rather than resolve it face to face on the spot.
So, you hear one side of the story and assume that the manager isn't a good one? I haven't heard anything that the manager has done that isn't justifiable.
As far as I would be concerned, I couldn't trust the OP to not swear at a customer. His feet wouldn't have touched the ground in my business.
Neither do we know the OP's history. This might be the latest in a list of complaints against him and his employer has had enough.0
