Tesco £20.78 + 5% discount for 6
Morrisons £18.99 + 5% discount for 6
Asda £18.98 + 5% discount for 6
Remember Money Savers are supposed to pay attention.
Tesco are now doing a deal. 6 Bottles of wine/Champagne with a 25% discount!! PLus if your staff like me, get an extra 10% off with privelage card!0 -
To put the new offer into perspective! Threshers (et al - Winerack, etc)charge too much for a single bottle and their managers rub their hands with glee if you are a single bottle customer. However they have won an industry award for their 'innovative' 3 for 2 offer on ALL their wines. So, if you can plan ahead you will pay 200% for 3 bottles. The 40% offer means you will pay 180% (3 X 60%) and this is a 10% improvement on the 3 for 2 - useful but not staggering!
Select carefully and you will win! Someone has cited Moet and the Asda/Morrisons price with a 6 bottle discount is £18.05 whereas the Threshers (40% off) price is £18 not exactly a WOW! However, some of Threshers wines have won Trophy, Gold or Silver (etc) status from the International Wine Challenge (9k+ wines tasted) or from Decanter, or from J Mc Quitty (The Times). 2 weeks ago I arranged a winetasting for nearly 30 peeps on the basis of 'Locally available Medal winners for c.£5' (many days of research!) and 6 of the 8 wines were Threshers 3 for 2 (the other 2 were Morrisons). My typing finger is sore and it's time for dinner so I don't intend to list my medal winners until I've bought in my stocks but I think I've given enough clues as to how to find a bargain here?0 -

Hi all,
My local wine shop is thresher - they have been running a buy 2 get one free promotion for the last year or so on ALL wine and champagne they stock. As you might expect, they have whacked up the prices per bottle. Effectively, if you buy 3 bottles at the same price, you get 33% discount anyway. I reckon their prices (per individual bottle) are about 25-30% more than other outlets - hence you get an effective discount of about 10%. for example, their jacobs creek chardonnay is about £4.50 per bottle when you buy three (£6.49 per bottle bought individually) and its usually £5 in the supermarket. There is no exception I have found, in every case their prices per bottle are whacked up to offset the discount. This voucher cannot be used alongside the 3 for 2 promotion. So, with this voucher, you get 40% off prices that are about 30% higher than market prices. I reckon that you are getting between 10-15% discount from market prices, not 40%. Still worth having though - but I would compare the final prices with those from Tesco etc first.
By the way, I have found their 3 for 2 promotion somewhat misleading due to the reasons above, and it is irritating to have to find three bottles exactly the same price to get the best benefit of the offer. Having said that, as my partner has pointed out, I have no problems consuming 3 bottles......
Is it only thresher that runs this permanent 3 for 2 offer as described? If the other brands in the group offer market pricing then we really do have a bargain here! Does anyone know if Victoria wine etc. have regular prices we can get 40 % off?
Cheers!

Does anyone know if this voucher would be accepted in Victoria Wine,as it
is part of the Thresher group.0 -
Be careful though - the voucher says "participating stores only" so obviously not all Threshers are taking part. I've also asked the managers of my two local stores whether they will be accepting the voucher and they have both informed me that they are not taking part in the promotion.0

Have just read the T & C and it can't be used in conjunction with that offer.
I think ALL Threshers have been running this for yonks! However, beware... the price of their wine is a lot more than elsewhere... i.e. nobody will buy just one bottle and pay a good price for it! I think they racked their prices right up just before they went down the 3/2 route...0
