Hi all, Now that i have judgement for my court case against Paul lloyd I will share with you all the nightmare that we have endured.
Our story begins on the 15th June 2010 (yes 2 years and counting)
We visited Paul Lloyd and agreed a price of £11000 and a 6 week build for converting our panel van.
21st June we delivered the van and paid £5500 (half) and agreed to £800 of extras.
6th September we were told van was nearly finished and then paid an additional £2000
14th September (12 weeks late) we collected the van and paid £4000. We still owed £300 but as they did not have the awning sides we were told to keep the money until the awning sides arrived (we were told awning company had sent wrong size)
18th September we took the van away for a weekend. We had noticed many small things that were below the standard that we were expecting but were so happy to at last get our camper before the summer ended that I suppose we thought we could live with the small things and repair bits ourselves. When we woke up the next morning there were no electrics. When we drove off the rain water that had gathered on the roof had seeped into the headlining and then poured through the cab lights and directly onto our stereo. When we went around a bend the oven completely slid out and hit the cupboards on the other side (with gas pipes attached). The seating had virtually collapsed because it had been made from off cuts and screwed together badly. The shower room pored water into the living area. There was no flashing on the awning so water dripped directly into living area. The gas pipe was faulty and leaking. No breather pipe on water tank so it would have sucked itself inside out until pump had broke. There were many many more issues of faults, shoddy workmanship and missing items.
We rang Paul who was very sorry and promised to rectify all faults. At the first opportunity (we live a fair distance away from Racepassion and both work full time) we delivered the van back to Paul in mid October 2010.
February 2011 After months of unanswered calls. We went to Race passion and not one thing had been done to our van. I wanted to take it home and recover our losses through the courts but Paul assured us that he would have it all done by the 10th February 2011. We have Pauls hand written letter on headed note paper stating this.
15th April. After many more unanswered calls or promises that he was actually on his way in the van we finally gave up and went to his Unit on Dafen Ind Est and collected our van.
When we arrived Paul was not there. The van had not had any of the faults rectified. In fact the men that were working there did not even know why it was there. To add insult to injury the side door had been left open and all the dust and overspray from them painting other vans had all gone into our van. It was a mess. They had taken from our van to finish other vans 1, our table and table leg. 2, the plug from our TV. 3, The cab window covers. 3, the catch to stow away the extra worktop table. 4, The drivers arm rest.
When we arrived home that same day Paul finally returned our call, we asked "what have you done to our van?" he replied "its all done and im going to deliver it back to you ", he even lied saying he was looking at the finished van when if fact it was on our driveway near Chepstow!
We took the van to another conversion company that are based in Cwmbran. They were brilliant. They fixed all the faults at a cost of £3000. And I know that was cheap because of the man hours that they had to put in. Just removing all the cheap grade silicone from around the windows and shower would have taken hours alone. They rebuilt the seating area, fixed the leaking roof, completely reworked the charging system, fitted the exterior light that was missing. Fixed the gas leak. And a long list of other problems were rectified.
We then went down the legal route and have finally got Judgement for £4527.00
Im just about to fill in the forms for the bailiffs to go in to get my money or goods to be sold to pay me back.
If any of you good people are considering having a motorcross van or camper that has been touched by Paul at Racepassion after you have read my case and that of others that are on this website then you really need your head read or someone else looking after your money.
Paul Lloyd is a consistent and pathological liar. But unluckily for him he does not have the memory to back up his lies.
For all of you that have had a conversion done I would seriously get the electrics and gas checked by an independant specialist. Do not think that the check sheet Paul gave you is correct.
The really annoying thing in all this as with many of the conversions Race passion has done is that he could have done a good job. It would not have taken many more hours to do it correctly. Just pride in your work would have seen this company prosper with a good name. The end product is only as good as the work force doing the job... we never saw the same guy twice on the shop floor. If you have seen a tidy conversion out there by RacePassion then by luck the guy working there for those particular months actually gave a damn about his work.
Im happy to show you my camper, the pictures of all the shoddy work, the letters to Paul. And the COUNTY COURT JUDGEMENT FOR £4527.

Hi all i,m new to this blog thingy,
Really sorry to ear about all your bad experiencs involving race passion, but i would like to share mine with you all....
After reading this blog i decided against purchasing any thing from race passion, but was really struggling to get hold of a youngish tidy looking motocross van..
So after a discussion with my wife we both decided that i,m A BIG BOY WITH MY OWN OPINIONS, so i took a day off work jumped in the car and drove from doncaster to wales to see for myself the substandard work race passion was producing...
I spent all day with paul who was glad to show me round the factory where 3 vw crafters were being built..
At the end of the day i was more than convinced that maybe i,m more easily pleased than most, but i left a small deposit on one of the vans and collected it the following week..
Had it now 4 mths and can honestly say that i,m perfectly happy with it as it serves its purpose perfectly.( weekend motocross).
Yes its had the odd screw come loose probably due to the flexing pannels of the van,(they are designed to flex by the way).
10 mins of my time with a screw driver sorted that problem,i didn,t complain.
At the the end of the day you get what you pay for and afterall it wasn,t RS or SC money..
The van looks smart, and is perfect inside for week end racing...
Believe me when i say i,m not trying to get under the skin of those that have had bad experiences with paul, neither am i gonna blow pauls trumpet,
But just maybe after all the bad press paul as learnt a valuable lesson and sorted the job out...
Or am i the only one out there with no complaints??? YOUR ALL BIG BOYS AND GIRLS YOU DECIDE..
A builder once quoted me for some work to be done and wanted the money up front,,,,I USED ANOTHER BUILDER THAT DIDN,T....0 -

Back in April 2012, I paid a deposit to secure a build date of a Volkswagen T4 transporter van with vdubpassion.co.uk (Paul Lloyd) to the amount of £1000.00 GBP to be built the end of May 2012. Mr Lloyd stated that the deposit was required in order for him to source a suitable vehicle. Mr Lloyd stated that he would then require half of the total amount of the build/ conversion with a full payment of the remaining balance to be paid on collection. Mr Lloyd informed me that the builds took 5-10 days to complete, indicating that we would have a van by the middle of May 2012.
I sent several emails and text messages to Mr Lloyd having not heard from him for several weeks. When Mr Lloyd did finally contact me (or should I say I finally managed to talk with him) he confirmed that he had the van and needed a further £6000.00 GBP. He sent an email requesting the payment and limited information regarding the vehicle. We duly supplied him with a further £6000.00 GBP (total amount of our funds held by Mr Lloyd =£7000.00 GBP). Several emails from Mr Lloyd provide inconsistency as there are clear indications that Mr Lloyd had found us a vehicle, then literally a week or two later, there is no vehicle. This is just one example of the inconsistencies and deceit that Mr Lloyd displays.
I went to visit the company on 31st July 2012. Again, Mr Lloyd continued to make excuses as to why our vehicle was not ready. Mr Lloyd then offered what he felt were 'compromises' and listed a few options available, none of which concerned a refund of my money. I raised this as an option and indicated that this was my preferred option because he had breached the contract set between myself and Mr Lloyd and vdubpassion.co.uk. As far as Mr Lloyd was concerned he would need to seek legal advice regarding this. At the end of this face to face meeting, I provided a precis email of the 'options' made available to me by Mr Lloyd and included the option of returning my funds immediately due to breach of contract on his part.
After consultation with my partner and as a result of me meeting with Mr Lloyd, we felt that the only option available to us was to continue with the van on the understanding and confirmation that the van would be completed and available for collection with another revised completion date of 15th August 2012. We chose this option based upon the evident reluctance of Mr Lloyd to return our money. Mr Lloyd was also going to ensure that he maintained effective communication with us throughout this period however yet again this never materialised with communication only occurring when I text or emailed Mr Lloyd.
Yesterday, the 15th August 2012, we travelled from Liverpool to Llanelli to pick up the van that was promised to us. Yet again, Mr Lloyd has failed to provide this and was unavailable in person. I spoke at length with him again, within the conversation he used foul language towards me. He referred to his personal circumstances being very stressful resulting in him being unable to provide his business with his input over the past week. Again I reiterated to him that the agreement had been breached again and that he had not maintained effective communication. I insisted on Mr Lloyd returning my money immediately due to him breaching the contract again. Mr Lloyd stated that he did not have the money in the bank and would have to consult his 'cash book' as to when he would have the funds available to return it to me. He assured me that he would email me by 7pm last night with a confirmed date as to when he would return my funds. He did not email me until later that evening and his proposed offer for returning my money is not acceptable as I provided funds in two complete transactions as instructed by Mr Lloyd as a requirement for the work to be done. Mr Lloyd appears unwilling to adhere to the same principles. We also took a recording of the conversation where he confirmed that he would return our money and as a result of this Mr Lloyd has threatened to contact the Police and take action against us for recording him. He does not answer his phone and leaves his workers to answer the main phone who are clearly in a difficult situation and are becoming increasingly aware of Mr Lloyds deception towards customers, he fails to return their calls (and money!). He referred to being under immense personal pressure, whilst this may be the case, I am sure there are many people in this world experiencing challenges, especially in the current financial climate. We were also made aware through other dissatisfied customers that this plight of circumstance has been referred to in their cases also. Whilst we will not speculate we have reason to be cautious with his words as much of what he has told us (regarding his business which is ultimately why we know this individual) is based on mistruth or lies for want of a better word. We have been assured that we will get our £7000.00 GBP back however Mr Lloyd believes it to be acceptable that we should have it back in bi-weekly instalments of £1000.00 GBP. We find this hard to comprehend when Mr Lloyd insists upon a £1000.00 deposit to secure a date and a further £6000.00 once he has sourced the vehicle.
We have already started legal proceedings and made contact with Trading Standards, Rogue Traders and Watchdog. It is also interesting to note that anytime any negative (but accurate) information is posted on forums or Facebook that there appears to be something positive posted in defence by customers who at times even have the same email address as vdubpassion.co.uk or an alternative trade name such as racepassion.co.uk or synergymotorhomes.co.uk0 -
How did you pay? Was any of it on a credit card? If yes then you may be able to use Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act to reclaim your monies due to non-performance of contract.0
