Child Tax credit changed - Why?

Hi,

For the past 2 years we have got static payments for child care costs for 2 kids in Nursery/ Wrap around aged 3 and 6. Child care was £400 a month and we got £208 assistance.

This month the payments gone in and its only £110. Not had any letters or warnings and always tell them about changed, no matter how small.

Checked entitedto website and it comes in with the same figures as last year, within a few pounds

Anyone shed any light?

Many thanks

Barry

    it was in the budget.
childcare costs will only be paid up to a maximum of 70% and not 80%

the earnings limits have also changed. combied with the lowering of the childcare to 70% may explain it.
phone tax credits and ask them.

No where near the £40k... Been trying to ring without success for a few days... I wish the annoying phones would just ring engaged straight away

Changes are applying all the way down the system - my wtc has gone from £45 per month to £20 per month and we earn under £17000.00 gross.

the difference is what a couple are said to need to live on, and what a family need, are different.

    do you have childcare costs?

Earlier today another thread was started called "wtc - why have a got a different amount" (or something like that!) It appears that quite a few people have had lower payments of various tc's which they didn't expect! Just remember folks when you make your cross in the box in May who's taking the biggest hit (Hint - It's not Cameron or Clegg!)
