thank you!
well. I survived Ikea (need a 'phew!' smiley). Paint looks incredible, will do 2nd coat tomorrow and then hopefully I can start getting the room straight.
I'm off for a new year's day service at the lovely vicar's church tomorrow morning. I have no compelling religious feelings either way, but this particular church is a nice place to be for me (despite it being right across from where XF lived!) and for that reason it will be a good way to start the year. I'm also hoping for a little bike ride tomorrow if the weather holds.
I have so many mixed feelings about seeing out the old year. In amongst all the !!!!, some really wonderful things have happened and I have met some great people who will be a big part of my life in 2012. I have learnt a lot about all sorts of different things, and again will take much of this forward into the new year.
In the short term, I am hoping that the canine alarm clocks will have a little sleep in tomorrow
Hope 2012 brings fantastic things for all DFWs
(whether you are in debt or just still here because it's a nice place to be!)

evening all,
well it's been a mixed NY day but overall very good. I watched most of Jools last night and got some great musical inspiration
so this meant I was late to bed and praying for the doggies to sleep in a bit - fortunately they slept in a little as well so I wasn't pounding the pavement/farm track at 6am :rotfl:
i went to the church service - some lovely readings and lots to think about, including a reminder to think about others as well as myself. I feel like I have been very self-absorbed - logically I know this isn't the case, but no harm in remembering that there are those on this planet without food, clean water, medicine and education, and so I feel glad that I do have these and so do my family and friends.
It was very emotional being in the church - I was welcomed by everyone which was wonderful, but the service brought a few things bubbling to the surface which haven't come up for a while and I realised that things are still running very, very deep. But the good thing is that this feeling of hurt has subsided a lot, and the moments where it comes up are far, far fewer.
The last time I was in the church was for my recital, and so this led me to think about the harp lots. This remains an area of difficulty although I think it is becoming clearer. A long break has helped this.
I have not been to church on a Sunday in a very long time - the last time was just before the wedding that wasn't, to hear our banns being read. Before that I think it was when I was in the Brownies myself
I felt a strong need to reclaim a day for some rest - so I bought a newspaper on the way home, and took it steady today.
I watched Seven Brides For Seven Brothers - thought i had missed it earlier as it was on before Christmas and I didn't manage to catch it before. It's one of my gran's favourite films and I had never seen it - it was very very enjoyable so I will keep an eye out for it on DVD. And there was some nice harp in it too
After that I did some painting, and my new harp room is coming along well. I have another rehearsal tomorrow which I am looking forward to. Hopefully by tomorrow lunchtime I will have things a lot straighter!
Tomorrow I have a party to go to in the afternoon, then the rehearsal in the evening. Then.... *shudder*.... time to get my head in gear for work again.
I have a couple of New Year's resolutions, plus a whole load of "Would Like To Do"s and plans. I love this time of year - sure, there are painful things to look back on, but there are many nice things too.
My harp trip to Italy. Yoga holiday in Spain. Harp adventures in the pub. New doggies for Christmas. Giggly nights out (not many, but in terms of quality not quantity, I am very happy!). Good friends however far away. My concert and the celebrations afterwards. Making my home that bit more personal for who I am now. Silly speeds down the A12 on my bike. Re-discovering the fun of going to the footie with my dad (even if our adopted team got utterly thumped both times). Feeling like I am getting to grips with things thanks to a great counsellor. Feeling that I have things under control and my inner confidence is returning. Starting to sound flakey now so will leave it at that!
Happy New Year to all x0 -

thanks everyone, hope it brings us along the journey to our dreams coming that little more true
(not sure I have quite worded that right!)
Had a very quiet weekend - or I did until yesterday. Paintbrushes were downed as I was just too tired, so had a day of loafing and watching films on Sunday. I did a bit of pottering yesterday, went out to get a couple of bits bought and came home to find increasing amounts of blood on the floor. One dippy greyhound has managed to slice his toe in the garden - and by licking it to try and clean it, he was making it worse.
So a very expensive trip to the vet - emergency Bank Hol charges  - and a very fetching red bandage. I think he is sorry as he was being very soppy last night! nothing serious but it's a tough place to heal as it moves all the time. The vet has glued it  and it is well bandaged so fingers crossed. I got free insurance for a month when I rehomed the dogs, so they should pay out, but I am prepared for them not to.
I am back at work today, got lots organised last night so started as I mean to go on, with ironing and lunch done the night before.
Mornings will be that bit more pressured so I am looking at baking some breakfasty nibbles that I can eat in the car.
LBM#2 - bigger and brighter and stronger than LBM#1 - has struck over the holidays, and I have GOT to stick to my monthly budget if I am to work my way to financial freedom and keep all the balls in the air.
Having the dogs has helped me realise I really don't want to be in the current "corporate/full time/long commute/debt slave" wheel forever, and if I am careful and approach things in the right way, I could really change my lifestyle radically and exist on not that much. I don't want to live my life in one woolly jumper and live on toast and wood shavings though
so it will take some doing.
I want to eat healthier and need to eat cheaper, so am planning to have a baking session on a Sunday so I can get some stuff in the freezer each week. I rediscovered my kitchenaid cookbook over the holiday and will try some pizza dough too as emergency pizza is a major source of my overspending
I have always done bread dough etc by hand but since I broke my thumb a few years ago I find it much harder.
Other than that, XF hasn't paid his phone bill this month yet - he has 5 days before it goes out of my account. There are only about 3 months left before the contract can be cancelled, but I have heard of others being able to reduce the tariff to a minimal amount so close to the end of the contract, especially in similar circusmstances to mine. I will ring the fruit coloured phone company later and see what they can do - if they can help, I will tell him where to go and cancel the sim and pay the remainder if it's cheap enough.
He still hasn't collected his stuff so I will send one last message, plus a letter to his parents' house as I have no other address, and will give him to the end of the month and then it will start going to the tip. I needed to wait until the right time for me to deal with it all, and that's finally come.
My windows are being done today and tomorrow and so I hope to be all straight again by the end of the weekend
It has been an expensive time, but were the worst to happen, the house will be infinitely more saleable. The jury is still out on this one.
I am plotting and planning on the finances, and will probably do a big/ger post soon.
Hope 2012 is treating everyone well

oh help, I may have a bit of a date situation on Sunday.... very excited but if it comes off it is likely to be a very blustery walk at the seaside followed by fish and chips, and I have NO idea what to wear! At all!
Best of all, he has suggested that as it's dog friendly! :j
fingers crossed
