i can't stop spending

Hi lemmings! You've made a really good start with this. You might want to try a NSD challenge. Decide how many NSDs you want to aim for in a month but be realistic! There will be days when you end up having to spend but this way they're planned for and you still feel like you're moving towards your goal!
We tend to stock up food too but then we regularly do a strorecupboard challenge where we go a month with a minimum allowance for grocery spending (for us it is usually just milk money as we have frozen fruit and veg we can use).
We also tend to meal plan and batch cook and put the extra in the freezer.
Keep going. Baby steps remember!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
Don't forget you can freeze milk. Lidl do organic milk and it's a bit cheaper to buy 2. I use 3 per week, so buy 4 and freeze 1. That way, there's always milk if I run out, and every fourth week I don't need to buy any.
Blueberries would be nice added to your apple crumble, nomnom. If there are any leeks in the hamper, these can be roasted and frozen. Somehow they are even nicer after being frozen.
Well done on your progress, it sounds like you had an episode of depression after the miscarriage. Don't be afraid to talk to your doctor about how you feel, and there might be a group (on-line or local) you can join/talk to.
Good luck, SatchmoWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
hi satchmo1 thanks for tip we dont really use that much milk only for baking and puds, mmm blueberries would b nice.still get depressed sometimes but am in a better place at the mo i am training to be a manager so am doing lots of hours at work so it keeping me busy although it is still in the back of my mind but hope it will happen eventually off back to see specialist again in a couple of months so hopefully they will finally sort me outVSP#17 £2.34

Hi lemmings1986 just subscribed to your thread, think from what you say you work for the same supermarket as me, which at times can be a problem. I often say"right i'm not going to buy anything today" and then when i walk out of the shop to go home i have a bag of stuff in my hand i don't really need. Think i will do what you have done and not take any money to work if i don't need anything. I started well on the boards for the first few monthes of being on these boards but have'nt been on for the last two monthes and took my eye of the ball and had a few silly spends but now i'm back and refocused, so i'll follow your journey and hopefully with all the wonderful helpful people on these boards we'll eventually get debt free and moneywise.xx:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.000

Just a quick reply to say well done, and you sound like you are heading in the right direction-you've got the right attitude towards spending (or not!!) which is a HUGE step!! I work in a supermarket, and i would more often than not come home having spent £10 on not very much in particular-usually because it looked nice, and i fancied it lol also as my shifts were evening ones before the shop shut, I would end up with lots of whoopsies-some good and some just because they were reduced and 2 days later would end up in the bin
I'm on maternity leave now, so should be easier not to keep spending and trying not to buy things i dont REALLY need-like this morning I was thinking I should go and get some bananas for the kids as there were only 2 left, but then I though no, i've got other fruit they can have so why waste money getting bananas when I would more than likely buy more again at the end of the week!
also, as for the pork chops-i find (assuming you haven't done it already!) if you take them out of the pack and seperate them, and put them on a metal tray of some sort they will defrost quicker!0 -

to make something less salty you add potatoes as they absorb the salt and then throw them away dont know if this will also remove a sweet taste0
