  • hi all well i have decided to buy a small greenhouse for my garden very small but big enough for me and i am going to get some free flower boxes from my father in law to put patatoes in.i also have hanging baskets in my garden which i am going to put strawberry plants in thanks to my father in law who is green fingered he is going to help me as not really sure what im doing but hopefully will save some money along the way.:)i wont have to buy any seeds etc as he said he has got loads extra and said i could have some and i am planning to buy the greenhouse out of the money i budgeted for this month but havnt spent,so as long as i dont spend the money i have budgeted for i am going to buy one of those small greenhouses the ones made out of plastic will be ideal for me as i have a very small garden, well yard no grass and there is no wind but lots of sunlight and the boxes to put the pataotos in or i might get some compost bags and put the pataotos in them will ask father in law and see how much money i have got left get payed in 2 weeks so what money i have got left i will get a greenhouse and put the rest towards ccs am quite hopeful as i have go quite abit of money left and them greenhouses are about £10-15 i think,so will try and find the best deal and hopefully pay a bit more off the ccs yay :j:j:j

I would always spend all my wages on nothing but unnecessary stuff, almost just for the sake of it.

I just decided in January 2009 to stop and to see how much I could cut back.

I'd stop getting the bus and walk and save £1.20 a day. Decided instead of buying that bottle of coke for £1, I'd buy 4 cans for £1 in poundland silly things like that but they all add up.

On evenings out, I wouldn't have the after drink kebab, a sandwich is just as filling when you get home. I would have a drink but not be Mr Generous (afterall I couldn't afford it) and buy everyone expensive shots etc.. No cabs either the bus home even if I had to wait half hour for it.

Various other bits and pieces, such as trying cheaper brands, which amazingly sometimes taste better.

Anyway I was absolutely amazed that I had been spend at least 50% of my wages on stuff like the above.

From then on it was what about if I do this instead of this and buy this instead of this etc...

Nowadays, I quite possibly don't allow myself enough treats that I can now afford. My mindset has completely changed towards money, if I don't need it, I don't get it. Every decision on money spending is at least thought about before buying and in the case of luxury, large items, I now spend months waiting to get a bargain rather than just jumping in.

So sorry for your mc, we went through being told we would never have children even with IVF. I did a ton of research through the website https://www.fertilityfriends.co.uk and managed to find a private clinic to help us and now we have twins.
Not the perfect happy ending as both twins can't have cows milk or soy so were very ill for their first year and I am still having to breastfeed them now at 20 months, so neither sleeps longer than 2-3 hours at night. So I haven't slept in nearly 2 years.

All this has taken it's toll and I have been massively overspending and need to figure out how to stop! I got myself out of £16k debt when I was pre-kids but find it hard now as I don't have time for my old strategies! But they may help you...

I made spreadsheets of my debts and spending and used to spend hours making graphs to see my debts going down!

That Christmas I made everyones presents (cooking fudge and sweets, collated recipes off the Internet as a personal cookbook for my mum, made bath bombs, etc).

I did matched bettig which took a lot of time and kept me busy!

Selling things on eBay is another thing I find more exciting than shopping! Have you looked at entering competitions? You could sell any prizes and put it towards your debts. Or maybe look at the up your income board?
I took on bar work for a bit as it is really social and gets you out of the house chatting to people. Even volunteer work would stop you spending.

It's helpful to find something to really motivate you too. Would IVF help you? If you can't get it free where you are, maybe paying off debts to save for IVF would be a huge motivator?

We are looking at buying our first home so that is the one thing stopping me shopping. Still spending lots on groceries as I struggle to get time to cook or budget efficiently on no sleep and mad days. But I am tryin to make small changes each month.
