Can the Homesun representative please get back to me urgently. I had solar panels fitted by Homesun earlier this year and the fitting went very badly with the fitters leaving site without telling me I had broken tiles and holes in my roof. The breaks in the tiles were so bad they caused over 24 rents and tears in our roofing felt, some up to 24 inches long. The tiles were replaced, however the fitting broke over 100 tiles and the roofing felt was left held together in places with tape from the inside. My roof is still leaking 6 months later and despite contacting Homesuns customer service rep on the 25 October I have only had an e-mail to say the problem has been passed to Carillion, their fitters. With a severe weather warning for tonight I am concerned that having a bucket in the roof to catch the water is not ideal and I certainly would not endorse Homesun's cusomer service or standard of work.
  • Have tried to get Homesun to install panels since July. I have completed all the paperwork which they seem good at losing. They claim to be sending another copy to sign and it's never received. They ignore email's asking for updates. They then deliberately put the phone down on you when you call them. I have written to the CEO recorded delivery and been ignored. The staff have no telephone etiquette and won't speak to you as a customer more like a piece of trash.

    Hi

Strictly speaking you would not be the customer/consumer ... you are a supplier to the R-A-R scheme operator with a contract to supply your roof for 25 years in return for being able to use the generated power for free ..... in most organisations customers and suppliers are treated differently .....

I suppose that at some time over the next 25 years someone will try to take their R-A-R partner to court for some reason under the impression that they can use consumer protection legislation and will likely discover that it doesn't apply .....:question:

  • Had the leaflet advising me that my roof was potentially good for fitting FREE solar panels pushed through the door. Did some research, decided to call and ask some more questions which were all answered quickly. Arranged a survey for 22nd Oct, all went according to plan.
Heard nothing since, except a letter today advising of the governments cuts to the FIT.
After 12th December, installations will still be available under 'solarshare' with a 'price point dependent on the new solar subsidy'

Have tried to call-line busy, have sent e-mail.

    Will update as/when any news.

Well they tried to extract a £500 fee and £5 a month 'Maintenance Charge' earlier when FIT was at its present rate. So goodness knows what they will try to get now.

Anyone who pays them anything has simply no idea - but no doubt with greatly exaggerated claims of potential savings, they will find some victims.

Had a call yesterday to say that I do qualify for 'free' installation. There is a chap calling next week to go through the contract and they do hope to install within 4 weeks, providing no issues with mortgage provider.
I asked what would happen if installation not complete by Dec 12th and was given the indication that this date will be extended?
Whether it is or isn't, it's not costing me anything to carry on, and if Homesun do decide to pull the plug, then I haven't lost anything apart from an hour or so of my time (& it has prompted me to clear my loft after 10 years!)

If Homesun doesn't complete, then I will look at a shade greener, who I understand are still continuing with free installs.

I am no fan of Rent a Roof companies as it is far too one-sided in favour of the company.

However if you go to the 'Green' forum you will see that 'A Shade Greener' have an excellent reputation with virtually no complaints - the same cannot be said for Homesun.
  • Went to Homesun because a neighbour 3 doors away had his free panels fitted by Homesun earlier in the year and recommended them.

Had a surveyor out 3 weeks ago but still no contact from them as to whether we qualified.

Phoned them last night to be told a letter was on the way - no free panels - as the yield to them was not enough for us to qualify despite having exact same size roof, exact same situation as neighbour.

Had also approached another company who says will qualify for free panels.

Don't know when the letter from Homesun was supposedly sent but still not received it!

Contacted ASG who have come back to me to advise that they are not currently installing in my area.

Whereabouts in the UK are you? If it's South East I won't bother contacting them - seems (understandably) the whole industry is in turmoil until things become black & white.
