We had our Solar Panels installed by Homesun at the beginning of february and i have been astounded at the effect on my electricity bills.
I am also aware that it could be considerably better if I was to more carefully schedule my usage in the daytime.

I was told that the system would be very efficient, especially as i am in sunny south Devon but I have to say it has exceeded my expectation.
It is very satisfactory to be turning on the tumble dryer in the middle of the day and know that it is not effecting my electricity bill one little bit.

I am very pleased that I fitted the solar panels, it has been largely trouble free apart from when some of the panels were damaged in transit, but this was remedied almost emediately and some new panels were delivered and the installation was completed the following morning.

It is also very satisfying to know that I am helping to save the planet.

    Hi Krish,
Must say I am a little surprised to see you back after a break of 6 months.

Can you recall the exchange of posts last January where you made some outrageous claims of potential savings. – starting with post#1825 in this thread:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/40777246#Comment_40777246

You made this offer to zeupater and myself.

    I posted:

That was the cue for you to disappear for six months.

No doubt you have read the Energy Saving Trust report that concludes £75 a year is a typical saving?

May we ask if you dispute that figure? If so please give your figure and on what evidence do you base that figure.

How much saving do you feel that your clients, who paid you £500 and are committed to pay £5 a month ‘maintenance charge’ for the next 25 years?, will be making?

Hello, Krish is off for a few days however he has been getting in touch with exisiting customers who have larger and smaller systems installed. He will be in touch with you soon.

    Thanks

Hello, we are expecting to start supplying 10 panel systems by the end of this month.

    Thanks

I've finally found my email. My roof was deemed too small for the free stuff, but if I was interested in buying them I should contact you. Now I don't know a lot about solar power, but if my roof is too small for your system, why is it big enough to warrant me buying them?

I'm now off to find a tape measure to work out what size house I need to have in order to get solar panels ;)
In spite of the cost of living, it’s still popular
  • I had a chap visit called Peter Sadler, he organised a survey to be undertaken back in March. I have just chased this process nearly 5 months on. They had all the incorrect info and informed me that I did not want the panels anymore (I had never made this decison as I had been waiting for the survey report to be shared with me) and that they had suggested I had the paid system not the free system. I will not be using homesun, they cant even get their admin correct at this early stage so it does not bode well for future contact with them.
My roof is large and I was deemed too small for the free panels (yield of under 900 watts(?) but I was welcome to have the solar share scheme at a cost unknown to me.........no thanks!

    I am a self confessed geek :)

heres a link to how much electricity my panels produce, how much i use and grid connection.

there is no easy/cheap (in my budget) way of telling if i am feeding grid or using grid so take house subtract solar if +ve i am feeding grid if -ve i am drawing off grid
as i am a new user i cannot post links GRRRR

    google g7pkf homesun pachube

I have only had the system a couple of weeks BUT my eleccy has dropped from 21units a day down to 13, night rate has dropped from 10.5 to 7. you may say why has night rate dropped there is no solar generation? there is also no dishwasher or washing machine on any more :) set timer so dishwasher comes on at 08:00 just as panels are starting to generate. even in cloud they are doing 700watts.

one of the best things i ever did

    Hi

That's quite a saving 11.5kWh/day ((21-13)+(10.5-7)) .... you must be using all of your production, or even more than all of your production on some days, or I'm reading your solar generation figures wrong ....

Also ...... the power usage pattern looks a little atypical with a very large baseload .... running servers 24x7 or something ?? ....

    Interesting ....

  • I live near Southampton. We had our solar panels fitted by Homesun 27 June. Sadly, we are still not benefitting from free energy as I can't get anyone to connect them!
There was no problem getting the panels fitted but the contractors didn't have an electrician available that day. I was told someone would ring to arrange connection. 4 days later an electrician arrived from AVC, unannounced, just as I was leaving for work. Some weeks later someone from AVC rang and arranged for fitting on Aug 1st. I waited in all day... no show. I was told when I rang AVC that they had been advised by Homesun not to complete any more work for them - not even to advise customers.
I rang Homesun who told me they would get their new contractor to ring to make an appointment to connect the panels. No-one has contacted me. I have tried emailing Homesun - they do not reply. I've 'phoned several times and always received sympathy from the people I talk to. They promise someone will ring me and arrange an appointment. Yesterday I was promised an email today - nothing!

I don't know what to do now...

So, NO, I most definitely would NOT RECOMMEND HOMESUN!
