Unable to boot into Vista

No, System Restore won't undo your good work.
I thinking that this would be the time to run a rootkit scanner. Hiren's Boot CD has some suitable software, such as GMER. Download and save the file to your Desktop, Extract the .zip file(not sure which utility that you use on your working computer) and then burn the image to disc as you did with the Vista Recovery Disc.
Boot up in the same way as you did with the Vista Recovery Disc. Screenshots here0 -

I dont know what GMER is. I can go try...no wait, I wont be able to start in safe mode, it takes me to that same screen for some reason (the "other user" one.) Thats what it did before when I tried to safe mode start.0 -

GMER But forget about it for now if you can't access Safe Mode.
Have never seen the 'Other User' screen before. So, go ahead with the System Restore from the Vista Windows Recovery Environment0 -
??
How will that help?
The OP can move the data now, as an external HDD is available.0 -
