the old one should be described as ancient (sounds like a mini lawnmower) but ok. I shall do that at some point. Sounds like a good idea. But one computer at a time haha.

No, I mean on the broken computer. When you run the Recovery Disc, did you choose US or UK? We need to change the Time Zone to GMT.0 -

yes, definitely chose UK and the language was United Kingdom English0

What did you try to get into 'Safe Mode' on the broken PC?
Can you click on the Time Zone on the System Restore box? I'm not sure where you can change the Time Zone.0 -

i dont know where to change the time zone no.
uhm, through pressing F8 on startup and chosing start in safe mode (and in safe mode with networking) just to see if it worked. They didnt. i could try again? but i dont think there will be a point.
will go try, and see if i can see time settings also on the restore (i think its still open on that bit so can easily look)0
