Hi guys,
I just wanna thank you for all your help, but after checking the ram and finding it fine, and yet still not being able to actually install anything on the computer, or make backup/recovery discs Ive opted to buy a new one.
but yes, i wanna thank you all, specially Stilltheone who had many a late night helping me out. Sorry i had to cave (but i have deadlines and exams coming up and couldnt spend more time on it.)
Still gonna play around and see if i can get it to do something in my spare time.
@closed- ill still follow your instructions on the hijack this for the old computer, so thank you so much for those.
Again, cant tell ya how happy i was you were around to help ^____^ cya.0 -
It would have been cheaper to buy a set of recovery disks from acer, or borrow some.

I dont think it would have worked, rebooting the system from the partition didnt work but yeah, it would have been cheaper to do that.....
Oh well >_<0 -
As it stands at the moment, you've done a factory restore? the machine boots?, but blue screens on shutdown?
If so, you can create your own discs using erecovery, and then wipe the lot, and reinstall windows from disc!!

That bit, the erecovery, was the issue as well as not being able to install anything (and the blue sceen on shut down) yes. Thats how it stands. I have no way to make discs.
Ive checked all the connections inside (cos i took out the HD and thought maybe i didnt put it back properly) but it all seems fine but no erecovery disc making option happens( its greyed out in the panel that comes up)0 -
If you have factory restored it, there should be an erecovery application installed that allows you to create the discs, are you saying you run this from inside windows and it doesn't work?!!
> . !!!! ----> .0 -
yeah. the erecovery only has options for me to restore to factory settings or exit. thats it. (hence me buying a new one, cos its so totally screwed)
and yes, from inside windows, after it is restored to factory settings.0 -
could you post a hijackthis log from it?!!

If you aren't bothered about losing the eRecovery option, install Windows 7 from boot up.
Will place the link to the download to to Windows 7 in your PM inbox.
If all is good, I'll link you to a Vista SP2 disc for which you have a licence.0
