I parked on a disabled spot only because my 3 year old son had problems breathing due to his health problem, he then started vomiting so we quickly found a spot which was a disabled spot and rushed him to a nearby superstore where they had toilet facilites. When we came back to our car I found a parking notice. I appealed and wrote back to UK Parking Control Ltd (UKPC) who responded back and said that I'll have to pay because I should have noticed the disabled bay but no mention of my sons health issues even though I've also send his medical consultants health warning letter stating he has breathing problems...! I have not paid and over the weekend I received a 'Notice to Owner' from a Parking collections company requesting payment - what should I do, any advice would be appreciated please.

Just continue to ignore them.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

You have seen the utter absence of any consideration for a child's medical condition, it cares not the health of your son. They must have their ill-gotten gains whatever!
Ignore any further contact. Some PPC,s are pushing the disabled bay point as they believe it adds weight to their claim. However in the 0.01% chance they did take you to court I am sure a DJ would show them the door, after seeing their lack of compassion!0

It never ceases to amaze me how many new posters say 'I appealed the parking ticket'.
 No, you didn't!
This was NEVER a real PCN and guess what, there was NO appeals procedure. Oh yes, they say there is but it's only an exercise to allow them to gather info such as who was driving and who to harass. They now think that with a bit more pushing you might just crumble and pay up, since you have already half-fallen for their S>C>A>M, they think you are a likely victim.
Having now found this forum all you had to do, rather than randomly post for help on various threads, was to read the two important sticky threads at the top of this board by Crabman here. You need to read 'Welcome, Please Read Before Posting' (oh the irony) and 'PPC letters, what to Expect':
 http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
Watch the Watchdog link on those stickies, check out the standard threatograms they will bombard the registered keeper with and STOP REPLYING! Stop wasting your life worrying about nothing & believing a series of letters which are akin to a set of phishing emails from Nigeria!
All PPC cases are the same. Read up on it and ignore them, don't panic about the debt collector letters, the preview letters thread is there to help you just tick them off one by one and file them.
Tell your friends, tell your family about this, spread the word!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Peter the piper and Coupon Mad many thanks for the advice...I can see why people get worried about these notices as they lead you to believe that they are very genuine when they are not. I also sent an email to the British Parking Association (UK Parking Control) is a member of that association but to date I've not received any response from them...!! I'm keen on hanging on yet also concerned about further threatening letters and so called debt collectors coming round ?0

The letters will arrive, you cannot avoid 'em! But just tick them off, we have examples on the link I gave you, of all known UKPC threats. Nothing else happens, no effect on your credit rating.
And 'debt collectors' coming round won't happen (if it did they have no powers so you'd just give them 2 seconds to get off your land!). I think you are muddling them with bailiffs. There will be no bailiffs without a Court case, you losing and then you refusing to pay after judgment...how likely is that when UKPC don't do Court?
The most that debt collectors do is send the standard letters and sometimes phone up. Which is harassment and tell them to desist if it happens, as the debt is denied. They then have to bog off and bother someone less well informed. PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland). PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The BPA are not in bed with the PPC's - they ARE the PPC's! The British Parking Association is simply an old-fashioned trade protection society created and funded by its members to serve its members' interests.funkycoldribena wrote: »Theres a shocker!! Don't worry that you've misunderstood their role in the overall saga. You certainly wouldn't be the first to gain the impression that they are some sort of regulator. They aren't.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0

I think you're splitting hairs,I certainly dont misunderstand their role and think my explanation of being in bed with them is more of an accurate description than "they are the ppcs",which is not strictly true although may hold some water.Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.
