The BPA are in it just as bad as the PPC's in my opinion. All they're after is the membership fees from the PPC,
It's sort of like drug boys that run around the estate that have to pay a cut to the ring leader
The BPA is like a local !!!!! boss, as long as they get paid "protection" money they will leave the PPCs mostly alone.
The yearly audit?

Well I've now received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd where the amount has jumped from the previous letter £90 to £148.99...god knows how they worked that out ? The letter states if Im having difficulty in paying then I should call them, they say they are a member of BPA, interestingly, it goes onto say the BPA code of practice states that "the courts do not look favourably on motorists or consumers who try to withhold information from operators when it has been asked for with genuine, reasonable and proper cause". It continues saying if full payment isn't received the matter may be passed to our solicitor to commence County Court proceedings.
What I find interesting in the last sentance above is when they say they "may" pass the matter to a solicitor to commence CC proceedings, can they do that and also why have they said "may" as oppose to saying they will ?
OK...I know I've said this before and have been taking your very useful advice, should I still continue to avoid them?0 -
They say "may" because they "won't". It's the threat that they are hoping you will fall for. It's kind of like the USA saying to North Korea that we "may" take military action against you if you don't comply with our demands. They won't because all hell will break lose !!! Yes, still continue to ignore. All aboard the Gus Bus !0

Hello guys, here you all are again. I'm following this thread with interest as it's seem to be a glimpse into the future of my own impending communications with the Mr Stupid and nasties of the parking world....
It's weird how you get a nasty demand from these horrid people, panic, think you are on your own and being victimised. Then you (wisely) come on here and get loads of fab advice and gradually the penny drops about what the real situation is....Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
juliebunny I take it your in a similar situation...I cant help but refer to this site and read the extensive advice from like minded people who have been at the helm of these money grabbing companies. I do think a lot of 'what if' and wonder what steps these companies will go to to threaten the likes of me and hope I have a leg to stand one if worse comes to worse...0

sd12 - hello!
One thing I have learnt from this site is that the companies don't even bother to read what you send to them and don't care what you write. Seems like you may as well send them your shopping list for all the notice they take even if their OWN evidence clearly refutes the claims they are making!
I am very distressed by a case I read on a similar site http://www.pepipoo.com/ where an elderly couple are feeling extremely harassed by these companies. I can only conclude that they are run by the scum of the earth. Scammers.
All the support from this forum and others has set our resolve in steel to ignore these idiots. We will deal with the company who hired them though. Happily, the manager of our store has reported that they are losing loads of customers due to the parking cameras. :T Since money is the only thing these companies are interested, perhaps this will have some effect....
The car park where we got the ticket is in a TINY town where no-one would even want to park except to do their shopping. How they can require any sort of parking enforcement is beyond me.
Only happy outcome is that finally OH has agreed that we never have to set foot in a LIDLs store again! :rotfl: I always hated the blooming place. We are also going to boycott ANY stores with similar systems - Homebase etc.Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!

Is there anything under the sun or on this site that would suggest you should do otherwise???Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I am only being cautious...0

OK the story so far...I've now received another letter in just over a week from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd headed 'NOTICE OF INTENDED LITIGATION', they state that if I do not contact them following the receipt of the letter they will assume that I am avoiding making payment and in that situation their Solicitors may issue county court proceedings against me. It carries on saying if the case reaches court and a CCJ is obtained the amount outstanding will increase....
I also wrote to a Solicitor who actually came on Watchdog some weeks back about my issue and this was his response...I assume you were parked in a private car park. As you have admitted being the driver in your letter your only hope is to argue that the amount charged is an unlawful penalty (although I do not know what the charge is) or that the signage was not clear if that is the case. Alternatively you could ignore them as even if they sue the amount of costs they will recover is likely to be relatively modest in the absence of any unreasonable conduct by yourself. Usually private companies do not sue although there are no guarantees.
What do you think ?0
