It has cut down significantly in the last day or two, I promise! The combination of the forms and the changes have made it a lot easier for everyone, plus contrary to some opinions we have added new editors - but it takes time to get everyone up to speed. And we certainly don't want or expect our a*ses kissing.
If you go back a week or so, we had to read every post on this thread just to find the updates, then actually do them. It adds up quite quickly, and it has grown and continued for longer than people expected it to. When the SS started I think most people thought DTD would only last a couple of weeks. It's starting to look more long term and we have taken that in to account with the changes we've made so that we can add more people easily if we need to, and so that we can update much more quickly.
None of us aim to sound like martyrs, but it can be a little frustrating when people snipe at us because what we're doing isn't good enough or doesn't save them enough time.0 -
I argued against them starting the 'paid access' part of it.. as the fact they link to the MSE spreadsheet shows that with larger numbers means larger benefits (mass research, 30+ volunteers updaitng spreadsheet etc etc) and charging limits numbers that researches means you will just mainkly be taking other peoples things.
didnt go down well
I bet it didn't! :rotfl:0 -

Does it have a forum section full of plebs and an oversensitive group of updaters that want their backsides kissed every time they make another unnecessary change to the information on the site?
If not, i'm not interested...........this place is gold dust
Just in case we didn't get totally blinded by neas' shouty-loud post the first time, you have kindly quoted the whole thing full-sized all over again, jolly decent of you.:cool:0 -
I think the SS updaters do a magnificent job. Not sure why ppl are complaining about it not automatically creating a shopping list for you!
It's pretty easy to copy/paste the items into Notepad and then put the prices on a separate line, makes it easy to add up the DTD values and the value of your actual shop. You can then just print this out and take it with you. If you don't have a printer for whatever reason then you can just write down the items and their prices, it's not that hard, really!! Lots of us are doing it this way afterall....
I edit spreadsheets (not this one!!) during my working day so know all about the manual labour involved and it's definitely time-consuming.
Trawling through the forum searching for updates must've been hell, so it must be much better to have a form for ppl to fill out now, makes it much more organised.0 -
