It has cut down significantly in the last day or two, I promise! :D The combination of the forms and the changes have made it a lot easier for everyone, plus contrary to some opinions we have added new editors - but it takes time to get everyone up to speed. And we certainly don't want or expect our a*ses kissing.

If you go back a week or so, we had to read every post on this thread just to find the updates, then actually do them. It adds up quite quickly, and it has grown and continued for longer than people expected it to. When the SS started I think most people thought DTD would only last a couple of weeks. It's starting to look more long term and we have taken that in to account with the changes we've made so that we can add more people easily if we need to, and so that we can update much more quickly.

None of us aim to sound like martyrs, but it can be a little frustrating when people snipe at us because what we're doing isn't good enough or doesn't save them enough time. :o

Really glad it has saved you time! The forms really were a good idea. I dont mean to sound ungreatful, because as I said, it does save me an hour of my time, and I'm a mother myself so know how much an hour can make a difference, but really dont think it would be necassery for you all to be putting that much time in to save others an hour of their time, (unless they are jobless and childless lol). I have wanted to volunteer as an editor many times but I already spend way too much time on here as it is (but then I think to myself, if i am going to spend time on here i might aswell do something usefull, but then think again that I would get too obsessed and too involved and my DTD obsession would certainly spiral out of control lol)...

So anyway.. well done to EVERYONE who helps out on here, no matter how big or small :T

    ATTENTION ALL ANDROID USERS

Dont know if this has been mentioned before...

My OH has just figured out how to use the barcode finder to bring up asda's price. You need to download the barcode app, go onto custom search, type in http:// groceries.asda.com/asda-estore/search/searchcontainer.jsp?trailSize=1&searchString=%s (with no space after http:/) save that as your custom search, scan your item and press custom search and HEY PRESTO :j tried it on a few items and up it pops on the asda site on your phone

we used the app by ZXing team

Tried this out today and it's brilliant! Thanks! Just wondering if there is a custom search equivalent for Tesco's? It would be useful when shopping at Asda to know who is cheapest!

It's pretty easy to copy/paste the items into Notepad and then put the prices on a separate line, makes it easy to add up the DTD values and the value of your actual shop. You can then just print this out and take it with you. If you don't have a printer for whatever reason then you can just write down the items and their prices, it's not that hard, really!! Lots of us are doing it this way afterall.....

I copy the items I'm interested in to my own spreadsheet and work things out that way. I have several shopping lists all adding up to roughly £20 DTD, plus a list of back-up items should my chosen items not be available in Tescos. Doesn't take very long as the SS people have done all the hard work already. I for one am very grateful to them and to everyone who sends info on their DTD finds. :T

I am one of those 'greedy so and sos' who want to spend 20 pound pay 20 pound get 20 pound back types.

As i am trying to milk this promo for everything its worth. Sorry if that shocks or hurts you but when the promo ends you will have saved X amount and I will have saved Y amount...

At the moment my plan is to save 5 years worth of things up like toiletries etc. Currently trying to get washing powder type prodiucts which persil small and mighty helps. Worked out i will need 1500 washed to do 5 years worth. So need i believe 30 bottles of small and mighty to meet that quota.

I can traw the spreadsheet like annyone else but i added my opinion earlier in contradiction to yours that as a spreadsheet updater like yourself I wanted to have deals put in descending order of Percentage value.. as it made it simple to read down 100 lines instead of 1000 lines.

Its all a matter of use and back then I was told they couldn't pander to my needs and I kicked off but accepted their decision and found another way to do it myself. You need to do the same now... they cant meet everyones expectations as they are starting to understand constanlty undating spreadsheet is a massive pull on their time. Hell just reading this thread and spreadsheet takes prob 30-60 mins of my time every day!

I agree and, at the risk of a repeat question (proper threaded mode would help avoid repeats), why can the "live" spreadsheet not be in downloadable form (.xls) from Google so that we can manipulate ourselves ? There is a "live" one, and a lagging downloadable one. Tell me I'm an idiot if you have too !:)
  • Jeezo! Been backwards and forwards to the cupboards and fridge all night. Finally decided to grab the nutella and a spoon cos there's just nothing else lol

Sat down with it and some b*gger's already been in at it! :( Barely a dessert spoon left.

Here's hoping Nutella goes on DTD soon or it'll be off the list lol

I'm not spending £400 quid on one of those "phones" ! It would wipe my profits out. :)

there deffinately is a tesco custom search address, but that would mean changing your custom address everytime. would be great if there was an app that let you have 2 saved custom search addresses. i think the most important one to have is asda's, as when in tesco the price is infront of you (i know these are not always correct, but the majority of the time they are) and if you are lucky enough to have a price checker in your local store you are well away :)
