  • Aww thanks Moozie. I hope you are right about the second wind.
In fact, you all thought the severe weather out there at the moment was due to low pressure approaching from the Atlantic....oh no, it's me, with my teeth gritted and chopped up VISA card in hand......GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

  • Oh man. Just got off the phone to my Mum.

She's coming to stay for Saturday night and going home late on Sunday. She asked "What are we going to do on Sunday then? Or are we going to stay at home all day?" OK not in those exact words but that's what she was implying.

It would be nice to get out for the day but it needs to be FREE or very low cost. Need to get my thinking cap on. Unfortunately the very dull 'city' that I live in really is lacking in exciting things "to do".

    ...big sigh......

    Feel a bit deflated now.

Oh LA, you are already doing the most exciting thing a mother and daughter can do together - you are spending time together!

I am sure it will be a lovely weekend and time will fly by with all the eating, drinking and chatting. You could always go for a walk or drive somewhere, if being indors gets too much.

Just relax and don't worry too much, it will be fine.

    Chin up xx

  • Thanks Mooz.

Course I am happy to spend time together. However by the tone of her voice when she asked the question, she really wants to be out & about. I told her whatever we do it won't involve spending lots of money though so at least I made that clear!

OK, it's OK. Something will come up. I'll search out local 'stuff' and ask some questions.

Hi all. Just wanted to say i love this thread. I haven't been around for a while for several raesons eg DD1 in hospital, OH saying this site is becoming too much of an obsession, new job with long hours and extra travelling.

But recently I have fallen off the wagon big time and no desperately seeking inspiration and motivation again. This thread has really helped. Thanks.

At the risk of becoming a complete copycat I am considering starting my own thread in an attemp to regain some direction.

    Thanks again!!!

Is there a free museum or art gallery? Check out local fee papers and council website for free events. Maybe there's a mulled wine/ carol singing event at a local school or college??

Good luck! If not hope for fine weather so a walk in the park is an option.

    Where is everyone tonight
  • Good evening fellow ramblers! I have literally just logged on to update this then will be off to bed as have been out all night (more of that in a minute) and eyes are stinging like a slapped ar5e so I can't be on here long.

Some may say that's a blessing.....;)

** judi - glad to know the thread helped and I hope you do start your own. It's so good to get things out in the open. You feel more 'guided' I think and organised. Like sorting out mental filing I like to say!

** taxi - you are soooo right about the hold that little bit of plastic can have. But no more! The sliced up b*gger's in the trash!

** Verbatim....thanks for your ideas! I have been doing some questioning on a local forum and think I have come up with a few ideas so, hopefully sorted now. Mind you if metcheck are right in their forecast, that might be scuppered! (http://www.metcheck.com - I love this site.)

So anyway today was a bit of a mixed bag.

Spent £5.82 on a few bits in a discount warehouse, which were all needed. A photo frame (Xmas present), a couple of photo holders (pretty cardboard/border type stuff that you put in a frame) and a big bottle of handcream for my desk at work.

    £1.50 on bus fare.

£7.95 on my departmental night out. Weird figure because it was a racing night so I lost some bets and won a couple and it works out I spent £7.95! Which is not bad at all as I budgeted £20.

    So total spends today £15.27.

(Must update signature and Moozie's daily thread before bed time....must must must!)

Spends for the rest of the week are worrying me a bit.

Going out Friday with old friend but as mentioned in a previous thread, she knows my situation and said she will buy a few drinks. I don't want to ponce off her all night but I have to admit if she buys me a couple that would help. But I'm certainly not going out empty handed. I have put aside £20 for the night and £10 of that has to be saved for taxi. (Come on LA that should be enough if I don't have to buy rounds, I don't have to be a big drinker!)

Bus fare & a few fresh groceries needed as well. Then on Saturday we have the main grocery shop. I hope I can stick to the £100 budget for the week. I'll be gutted if I go over at all.

Ooooh I have a copy of Microsoft Money to install tomorrow (there's no way I'm doing it tonight....) so I am hoping that will spur me on.

OK not much else to add except (and this is NOT judging anyone who does - they really have my sympathies believe me) I couldn't ever be a big time gambler! I was gutted when I lost a small stake £1 and ecstatic when I won a little bit back (£2!!) and wanted to put it in a separate pocket or purse so I wouldn't dip into it!

Underneath this debt ridden exterior is a right tightwad! Must make contact with the inner tightwad.....:rotfl:
