Thanks jenchin66. I do use Spybot but I used another spyware program from that page and it detected Bonzi (which Spybot didn't pick up) so I have got rid of that. I need to reboot the pc to see if it has worked in my IE6 browser, so I will do that later. In the meantime I uninstalled Mozilla & reinstalled and that has sorted out Mozilla browser anyway.

Thanks everyone I think (hope!) the worst is over.

    OK, fresh ramblings for today.....

I went to the party _party_ ....I went with £15.30 in my purse......and I came back with.......

    £15.30!

Really chuffed. Someone bought me a drink as soon as I got there (bless him) and then there was free wine all night. Needless to say I feel a little fragile this afternoon _pale_

Anyway.....the party was GOOD! Much better than I anticipated and I had a good boogie  which I haven't done for ages. Had a laugh. My £5.60 dress looked nice I think, well, someone said to me that she liked it and my BF thought I looked "sexy" but hey that's the only dress I own so I think it was the novelty factor! (But I thanked him and didn't rebuff his compliment!).

I am soooooo chuffed that I didn't have to spend any cash because I can now use it for bus fares and a bit towards the departmental night out on Wednesday.

It's a bright sunny but extremely windy day here so I am getting washing done and also cleaning up....but quietly as BF has gone back to bed for a while. He too had too much vino

OK will be back on later, I need to work out what to pledge for budget this week. A sensible budget this time! Totally blew it last week.

Hope you are all having a good Sunday!

Another day...another £7.79. That's my spend for today (must update Moozie's thread later...)

I have adjusted my payment to Sainsburys VISA - I'm gonna pay it all off. I looked at the statement online and they are going to charge me >£6 interest which, I think is more than I will get charged for my overdraft (which is gonna be nearly three times the amount I owe on the credit card!) so, I'm going to clear it and get it out of the way.

I have to make the decision on whether to cut it up now or not. It is my only VISA card now, I get reward points if I use it.

However it is a source of debt because let's face it, I can't afford anything I put on it can I? I think I should do it.

<Good Financial Fairy on my shoulder is chanting "Do it! Do it! Do it!">

I know I could keep it for groceries though and get reward points that way, however I don't know that I am strong enough yet to keep it *just* for that purpose.

If I cut this up, it really will mean, anything I buy has to go on the Switch card. And my overdraft is mahooooosive right now. So it could be a really good idea as it would totally force the issue of "If you haven't got the money...you just can't have it".

I will obviously have to bump up the overdraft for food shopping however all other non essentials will be kicked to the curb.

    I'm talking myself into this.

    Any reasons FOR keeping it....?

My spends today by the way were for:

Boots being reheeled. £4.90. I thought it was £4 but I misread the ticket. The "9" looked like a "0" with his curly handwriting. Never mind.

£1.50 on bus fare to work.

£0.69 on a brand new looking photo frame in charity shop which is something I needed for a Christmas present for BF's Gran. (She wants a photo of us two.....bargain! £0.79 for a reprint & £0.69 for a very decent wooden frame!)

£1.39 on two lovely greetings cards (needed) from same charity shop. Brand new but just not your usual make of greetings card.

That does total £7.79 does it not...? NO! Damn it's £8.48. What a plum.

Now can you see how I've got myself into this mess? :rotfl:

    Any reasons FOR keeping it....?

    Hello LA

I had a panic earlier: looked for this thread and couldn't find it anywhere! Subscribed to it now so all is fine and dandy :D

Right, reading this post was weird because I've had similar discussions with myself. I have two credit cards that I use and pay off monthly. Both of them offer cashback and the reason I have two is that the limit on one was not enough for a one off larghe purchase so I got the other one.

Anyway, in my good months, EVERYTHING goes on the cards and then gets paid off by DD. In my bad months, I go through phases where I think, well I can't afford it but it will be OK by the time the DD is claimed! I knw this is wrong and I am working on fixing it but, in the meantime, I have over £50 cashback waiting for me and I will not use it for debt repayment!

So, I think what I am trying to say is that if you are getting something out of the card, without getting carried away, keep it. If it's too much temptation.....you know what to do.

As for the OD, could you not open another account, get your income and DDs in it and then pay the OD as a debt? That's how I handled mine and it worked as one of the two is gone and the second is close ;)

I hope I am making some sense....

I never make this type of mistakes. On your own there LA

Ha ha Moozie!! Made me laugh! Did you really panic? Bless ya! And noooo no mistakes from my black & white friend.....nooooooo. :D

I like your idea of getting another account, but I am worried in case my bank suddenly demand that I pay the overdraft back at once (aren't they entitled to do that?) because I'd have no chance.

But it is worth looking in to. Thanks for that!

I will be having a little thinky about the VISA card. Not sure if the reward points are really worthwhile if the card is going to pull me in........like Frodo & 'the ring'.

    My precious.......
