Awww thanks JD. I think my social life has petered out for the balance of 2006 now but, to be honest, I've had a really good run for not a lot of money in the last few weeks so I am happy as a pig in muck really.
Mum was down this weekend and I managed to keep her entertained. We went to a discount warehouse store and also to another cheapy place where she found a pair of leather boots in the sale which she could get on.
This was - excuse the pun - a real feat for her as she has a bunion which means she's usually confined to trainer type shoes. We both managed to get the last (but one, for her) of our Christmas bits as well for not a lot of cash so...result!
For lunch I cooked Boston Baked beans on thick granary toast which was lovely...and of course, cheap!
I feel a bit more Christmas-y today and may go off soon to wrap some presents and put the tree & fairly lights up I the lounge! BF has had a glass of mulled wine too - very seasonal.
Ohhhh talking of mulled wine, we gave Mum a glass last night and she had a clumsy moment and knocked it over on the coffee table....it smashed and red mulled wine went all over the carpet (which is oatmeal colour), my rug (which is cream/oatmeal/burnt orange colour) and splashed up the patio door curtains too (which might I mention are cream). She did a grand job!
Luckily I was there in an instant like some sort of cleaning superhero, rubber gloves, bucket of warm water, Vanish spray and loads of cloths and it's all come up like new thank GOD. When it happened it sort of happened in slow motion and I was like this: _pale_ when I saw the state of my carpet.
Bless Mum she was MORTIFIED and kept berating herself. I lost count of the amount of times I said "Don't worry about it...!" But I would have been mortified too.
I was more upset at the fact she did it in the middle of Louisa's dance to save herself (vs Emma Bunton) on Strictly!
Back to work tomorrow for a rest...;)Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Hi slowlyfading!
I know, I was nearly crying for her but at this stage it's anyone's trophy.
Voting for Mark HereHaveMyCash personally though - yummmmmy!
Yes my poor Mum, but I was patient & calm...told her not to worry but she did anyway. Bless her.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Actually I said to her "If you didn't like the wine you should have just said..." which made her laugh.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Am a bit worried about my budget this week. I seem to be racing through it at a rate of knots and it's only Monday!
Forgot to budget for Christmas postage this week to D'OH but at least I had 7 second class stamps in my purse to assist with it a little bit.
But more things to post tomorrow and my boots to pick up so a visit to the cash machine is required, I now dread going to it as every time I know I am eating into my budget.
Got a lovely freebie coming my way this week though. A friend is passing over to me (via a third party) some exercise DVDs so I can get free workouts at home. My enthusiasm for leaving the house again in the evening is zero these days but my body isn't thanking me for it. So hopefully this is a good compromise.
Overdraft is rising....have joined JamieDodger in a challenge to get this down as much as possible by February (see Jamie's thread) and I can't wait to get stuck into it! I can try to do stuff now but pre Christmas....well, it's not realistic to say I'll do a lot right now.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
