If I want to have no comeback, and buy what I know is going to be rubbish, from someone I will never see again, no matter how much I look, maybe I'll come to you if you're on a streetcorner with a suitcase.

Why must you keep peddling this silly argument when I've stated multiple times this is not what I hope to achieve on eBay?

I want to see the length of time for a dispute be increased to the actual amount of time a dispute needs to be resolved with a courier.

As it stands, the 10 days given may as well be zero. Where does eBay get their magical "10 day" number from?

The dispute resolution system may as well not exist if its sole purpose is to create an illusion of fairness. Why not create a simple 'refund me now' button for a buyer?

There is no reason to wait, and give sellers and buyers 'time to work things out', if the only possible solution is "refund", regardless of evidence either way.

I do not understand why you seem to turn this into a personal "me vs you" thing.

Perhaps a contest would be in order.
Each party has one button each. The one that recieves the most clicks in 24 hours wins the dispute.

    :P

  • I found out the other day that ebay doesn't protect you if you buy a voucher on there, and it's not sent to you! You're actually NOT covered at all by their buyer protection system. There's more info on this ebay guide here: http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/amazon-voucher-Gift-card-or-Certificate-FRAUD_W0QQugidZ10000000019951164 They also don't offer buyer protection in
Real Estate category, certain Motors categories, or in Classified Ads sections. Now I can understand it with things like houses and cars - you'd go to see them first wouldn't you! But a gift voucher?? Hows that work then.

I would assume that is simply due to the difficulty in ascertaining that the item is indeed genuine, that a gift card or voucher hasn't already been used, etc.

Indeed a reason to be careful though.

I think it's also to do with the use of them for "money laundering", where they are paid for by paypal, with an account that isn't is the buyers real name, with cash that isn't declared on benefits claims, then the vouchers are spent and are untraceable.
So ebay just wash there hands of it generally, and stay well away, otherwise they would be obliged to report any suspected "criminal" activety they investigate.

Are you telling me if buyers had to wait the statutory 30 days if items went missing they'd go elsewhere?
Yes, absolutley - I believe the vast majority would go elsewhere.
