Aw, but it's not bait, just trying to convince you (and others reading) that those people in the right hand lane aren't ignorant queue bargers (well actually some of them probably are), but are using a different, better system from you. I could call you a bad driver for clogging up the roads, but I'll just call you 'unenlightened'.
As much as I know nothing about your driving, and you mine, I'm sure you will picture me whizzing past, above the speed limit, stuck to someone's bumper, in an unroadworthy and very loud Imprezza. I reserve the right to picture you in a flatcap, Austin Allegro, red faced with anger and minding that gap in front of you as if your life depends on it - ok?! We've made plenty of assumptions about each other and others who have posted, that's fine. You've got no idea what age I am or how long I've been driving, but have wagered that you're more experienced. You may well be, or maybe not, but that's another assumption you've made.
And once again, I've pulled umpteen strokes, taken umpteen risks, and that includes stepping out the front door, but MERGING SHOULDN'T BE ONE OF THEM! Stop being so adversarial in a queue, next time you get to a merge point, leave a big gap, make it easy for the driver on the right, and watch in amazement as the traffic ACTUALLY FLOWS INSTEAD OF START-STOPPING! Try a change!
    Phew!

    Phew!

Total balls as has been shown to you several times in this thread.

If and obstruction can pass 30 cars per minute, thats, it, in actual fact 1 queue of orderly traffic will passd quicker than 2 barging to go 1st.
"GO OUT AND TRY IT", in your words.

Quote; "We've made plenty of assumptions about each other and others who have posted", errr no, all the assumptions or more correctly presumptions have been yours, read what you've posted, I've merely commented on what you've said you do??

The last minute merge is nothing but a sneaky move to gain on the majority of considerate drivers. The only way anyone can improve their own way through traffic.

You see considerate, I see stupid.

It seems to me that whilst queuing up unnecessarily is the ONLY time these people are ever "considerate". I'd say 80% of drivers are inconsiderate little pr1cks, yet they'll still form an orderly queue even if they don't need to!

  • I'd imagine that this behaviour is certainly frowned upon by the police and certainly isn't good road manners, but I can't see anything inherently illegal about it.

I could be wrong though. :)

What? Why would anybody frown upon such a legal maneuver.

I do it occasionally and I just consider it cheeky myself, nothing at all dangerous about it.

^^ Yeah it's clearly illegal to use the 2nd lane of a dual carriageway when there's a queue :rotfl:
