I'm with HSBC and have never been charged this fee.

You've obviously been very well behaved! :-)

I love my secure key its easy to use but I do not carry it around with me. It would be a pain to lose it and not be able to get into my internet banking.

So you can't when the secure key is at home doh

If it breaks (they will send you a new one.....)

If the battery runs out (they will send you a new one...)

    Come on now... ;)

And a new one takes 5 - 10 working days to arrive :(

If it is on your car keyring, then it is quite annoying having it knocking or brushing your knee all the time while driving. One of the reasons I chucked the Tesco keyring card.

Tbh I do not want to advertise Hsbc or Tesco on my key ring and why should I?

Lol, how close is your ignition to your knees in your car? I've got almost a foot of room!

Depends on your height. I agree with the OP

I lost it. Around payday when I like to keep tight control on the account so that I don't overdraw. It took 7 days to replace.. I found the old one meantime but it had to be thrown in the bin quite environmentally unfriendly and useless to me..

Thought I had lost it again tonight had to search house for an hour missing most of Xfactor. Weekends are not long enough to have to deal with one of these stupid cards.

Thinking about changing banks. I have a LTSB account but when using phone banking with them for the first time the amount of personal data they have on me is staggering!! They asked personal information which I had never disclosed to them, so unnerving it really scared me.
  • THATS IT! HSBC have now lost my business!!.. WHY? well, Ive just got my mobile phone bill and its seems that all the calls I made for tele-banking in the last month have racked up a £75 bill for me!! (Although I stil get free minutes I specifically capped my 'non-free minute' phone number/bills - such as the 0845 HSBC number! - at £75 to stop it ever going crazy mad for me - so glad I did this now!).

If I want to balance my finances I am now unable to do this free unless I seek out and visit an actual HSBC branch - something Im not always going to be able to do. Therefore, having just been paid, Im going to jump ship to either Natwest or someone more suitable to my online banking preferences; Egg or even the more forward thinking, dynamic and younger off shoot of HSBC; First Direct.

I ring the 'dialling from overseas' number whenever I call from my mobile - 01226 261 010 - that way it uses my free minutes.

In fact, I never dial an 0845, 0844 or 0870 number from my mobile phone. There is a website called www.saynoto0870.co.uk which lists local number alternatives to dial when you enter in the 08xx version.

There's also an iphone app but I forget the name, you dial the 08xx number from the app and it uses your minutes.

    Egg has been sold off.

Try smile bank or metro bank. I'm tempted by metro bank. Looks swish. Just don't want to lose my long standing history with HSBC because it looks good to mortgage lenders.
