I make a nice dish with lamb lentils and rice even my fussy teenager will eat it.
Brown off lamb mince, add can rinsed green lentils or cook your own and drain. add jar curry sauce( balti is best)
meanwhile boil some rice when cooked add to mince mixture. Serve with mango chutney.
It can also be made with curry paste, water and whatever veg you have lurking in the fridge as a substitute to the curry sauce, just cook the veg with the lamb and then add other ingredients.0 -
Just bought some at c&c, can you use it for chilli? If so, I assume it is just treated in the same way as beef.
ThanksA smile costs little but creates much0 -
Hi - yes you can use it just the same way as beef mince.
It's got such a lovely flavour I usually buy it for meatballs and moussaka0 -

Yes, I'd use it no problem.0

You can, but it's often fattier than beef, so you need to skim that off
I'll add this to the existing thread later to keep ideas together.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
As above, it will work.
However, due to the high fat content, it tends not to go that far in the usual mince recipes. And, it's quite expensive.
Therefore, I'd save it for something a bit more special and/or that traditionally uses lamb.
Another vote for moussaka. Lamb burgers, with a little bit of mint sauce added? Keema curry? The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
shepherds pie
mousakka
meat balls
I have mushrooms, a red pepper, onions, various herbs and spices, some new potatoes and bulgur wheat or couscous, or quinoa and chopped toms
I have half an aubergine
I only have 200g of the lamb and can bulk it out with some lentils if necessary. Can I make a meat loaf, does anyone have a good recipe?0 -
Got any macaroni or similar pasta? You could make Pastitsio and chuck in the aubergine for good measure0

i forgot to mention that my fussy OH will be eating this and the rules are no pasta, no cheese, no eggs (even disguised), not too 'tomatoey'. which is why i cant cook moussaka, which i would love, he wont eat the bechemal sauce (too saucy)0
