I strongly recommend PAD as a way of making payments without thinking about it. I have found it helps stop me frittering money too.

I must be over £10,000 in PADs now since November 2009 as I cleared £9,200 of debt to become debt-free and have been saving to savings acccounts and now to repay my car.

If you had asked me before then if I had a spare £5,000 per year I would have laughed in your face :D

I completely agree. I never had circa. £100 per month extra before. Quite honestly, I still don't think I would be able to find it if I wasn't PADding so I intend to continue once I am debt free (hurry up!!)

    :)

I'll go find the official thread and find out more but wondered do you guys actually make a payment a day or do you put money in a pot and pay once a month? Thanks! :D
Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...

I put cash into a tin each day and declare it as my PAD (I miss some days if I don't have any spare money). At the end of the month I write a cheque and send it to the loan company. I am not able to make a direct payment from my bank account to the loan as it is the same company and they don't allow it for money laundering reasons or something like that  So yes, payment a day but I save it up and pay it towards the loan each month. Hope that helps, loumac :)

    Payday :j:j:beer::j:j

I have made all my transfers and PADded £19.64 to make my overpayment this month: £121.39 = £40 over target :T Posting the cheque to BOS today.

Sealed pot got approx. £5 in change yesterday :D

Managed to squeeze an extra £5 out of Mr G last night for phone calls that he has made from the landline. Oooh I am mean. I did tell him when he moved in he would have to pay for calls if he used the phone. He tried to argue but in the end he had to admit defeat ;)

The bust up has now been forgotten about. I will have to be careful because it was something that I said that caused it :o As long as I don't say it again it will be fine.

    Have a lovely weekend everyone!

£1 to PAD today, start of another month. Lets see how it goes this month  Will update my sig on 6th Sept when my regular loan payment comes off.

LM is out overnight tonight and I am really missing her :( She is back tomorrow around tea time so I have to wait until then for her. Just want to give her a hug. She was so excited she didn't even say goodbye to me! She was quick to grab the money out of my hand that I offered her though. They are going shopping tomorrow.

Had some sad news today. LM's big sister came round to visit and she got really upset. I asked her what was wrong and she was crying on my shoulder (literally). I thought she was going to tell me she was pregnant! She didn't (phew) but told me that her Nana had died. Her Nana was like her second mum. She has spent every weekend with Nana since she was born. I think she stayed at Nana's house more than she stayed at home. Nana was only in her early 60's but she had the human form of CJD the symptoms started and she died within 4 weeks. I haven't seen her since the start of the year but I really liked her and got on well with her. Really, really sad :(

Anyway, off to get some sleep now as am finally feeling tired.

    Goodnight

£5 to PAD yesterday and £1.30 today :)

Was supposed to have jury service today but I called the juror's line yesterday and was told not to go but to call back today. I don't want to do it as I am very busy at work at the mo so hopefully they will keep putting it off and then not want us, that is what happened the last time.

Have a good day everyone - I am at work :(

I seem to get something from them every couple of years mummy :(

    £1.40 to PAD today.

Got a wedding on Saturday. We are only going to the evening reception so I have something in mind to wear that is already in my wardrobe :) Got to get a wedding card and put some money in it.

Gap-parents back from hols on Saturday :D Missing them a bit now (not that I didn't miss them before but now I am starting to feel homesick - bizarre, I know).

LM has a school trip coming up next year (April or something I think) and it is costing £290  Luckily, I have been putting money aside in an account for her for the past couple of years because I knew this was going to happen and there is enough in the account to cover it now :j We can pay in instalments but I have decided just to pay in one go and that way I don't have to worry about it again. The money is in a completely separate account and I have to physically go to the buliding society to take it out so it will save 5 lots of bus fares if I just go once.

I'm hoping it will warm up a bit today. I was cold in bed last night and am still a bit chilly now.

    Have a good day everyone.

It's school camp mummy. I think they go for a week. It is an outdoor education thing. I actually think it is quite good for them but I will miss LM like nothing on earth when she is away :(

£5 to PAD today. I have officially taken over the PAD reigns today for the month of September so lets see how that goes :)

Was Gap-Dad's birthday on 29th Aug and is Gap-Mum's birthday today  but luckily they are still on hols and not back until Saturday so we have extra time to get them something.

    That's about it for today.
