Ive found this forum very useful http://dwpexamination.myfreeforum.org/index.php
,Im currently appealing my decision.ATOS are very corrupt indeed,awful company.:A :shocked::shocked: :A0 -
my husband is not diabetic (despite what his tests results say) but he has similar problems as yours has as in, kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure etc and thay are all co morbid and he did fail his first ESA medical and even now that he is in the support group he still get medical forms every six months which is very stressfull for him.
The transplant will help your husband on the changeover but it shouldnt have to be dependant on that only but on all his health problems as a whole because they mean that he is to ill to work, full stop.
If he does fail when his time comes please pm me and I will tell you about my husbands appeal.
Thank you, I will let you know when the time comes what happens.
We also don't know how it would work if he failed esa and told to get a job as he is still on the books with his employer, he gets paid a prolonged health insurance (phi) which is 70% of his normal wages so he still gets a wage slip and they pay into his pension for him but he hasn't gone to work since 2003 and they wouldn't have him back to work because with his eyesight and falling over it's too dangerous in the factory. They've said he can stay on this phi for life but if he had to look for another job he would have to hand his notice in.september wins - toshiba laptop, timotei shampoo & conditioner, mccains games, pimms picnic blanket.

God I wish they would give me a pancreas transplant!
Mine's going down the path of Pancreatic Cancer
Does your OH claim DLA?
I can't get it for some reason.
Wish you luck
We get higher rate care and mobility.
We were refused it at first as he was only on dialysis but by the time the tribunal came he had his leg amputated so we don't know if he would have got it had this not happened.september wins - toshiba laptop, timotei shampoo & conditioner, mccains games, pimms picnic blanket.

I don't know what to do today..
The letter I got from the DWP said that they are re-assessing me now and I need to phone a certain number to confirm my identity and then they will send out my ESA50, they didn't give me much time - it says 7 days from the date of the letter, which was 19/04. I got it on Fri 23/04, effectively only giving me today to phone them or I could lose benefits.
I hate them, I want to write and ask why I'm being reassessed 5 months after the last time, and when I have been told I am due for review in Nov 2013, but I suppose I'll have to get the forms first.0 -

Try not to panic, I think they'll take into account the bank holidays...;)0 -
Well, I went down to the DWP office this morning which wasn't easy for me (see other thread).
They did say that the 7 days mentioned on the letter didn't include all the bank holidays and the weekend which was a relief - and just as well, because when I used their phone to try and get through to the right department it was constantly engaged - just no-one answering at all.
The man at the front desk wasn't really able to help me as to why I'm being re-assessed now (or assessed anew for ESA), just that 'everyone is being migrated', and that '1.5 million letters went out last week', which I highly doubt.
So, it gives me time to write to them and perhaps seek advocacy from the mental health resource which is just a half-mile from my house.0 -
All I've read is that the DWP ring you as part of the ESA process but what happens if you can't use the phone? My OH finds it near impossible to ring anyone. If he does then he literally has to work himself up to it for days and thats if he can even do it. He absolutely refuses to pick up the phone when some one rings us and won't let the phone be passed to him if the phone call is unexpected. He's practically housebound too.
If the ESA people are using telephone rsther than lettervas a means of communication then we're stuffed!!! The DWP won't generally talk to anyone but the applicant.0 -
I'm similar - I have a mobile for emergencies, but I don't have a land-line because I'd never use it. I've no need or desire to ever use a phone.. I get very anxious if I absolutely must make a call, like today, but if they won't answer, what's the point?
Apparently email isn't secure enough to use for the DWP, which is a pity as I'd have no problems with emailing them.0 -

The DWP will talk to a representative, but it needs to be sorted out in advance, and is a little complicated.
I have ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and part of my condition means that I am elective/selective mute. (Physically I have the ability to speak, but my condition makes me unable to - if you can understand that!)
My amazing mother is also my unofficial and non-paid carer. We arranged with the DWP that any written correspondence comes to my address. Any phone contact is through my mother.
In order to set this up we needed a letter to confirm my condition (My specialist and my social worker both provided letters) and we had to have a meeting with a very understanding officer from the DWP. The meeting was held at home. My mother was present at all times and spoke for me. I had to sign some paperwork confirming that Mum was in future to be my representative.
It would be a lot easier if contact was possible through e-mail. However, the DWP have stated quite clearly they are not prepared/able to do this.
Having a representative is not an ideal solution, but it is a workable compromise.
I grumble about the DWP a fair bit. But they have honestly tried to accommodate my disability in this case.0
