I was caught by the treasure eggs and Thornton's eggs yesterday too :-( Nevertheless, I used an £8 voucher tonight in Manchester with no problems but they wrote my clubcard number on the back, which was a new one on me. Just thought I'd report back...
Thanks again to everyone who's contributed.0 -
I am sure that you have explained how this works, so that they can DTD and keep it going? Otherwise your efforts could come to an abrupt halt!

Oh Yes, strict instructions given - buy vodka, beer, wine, larger LOL:rotfl:I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

I'm pretty confident that Tesco won't be pulling this offer for a while. Let's take this example as it keeps things simple...
Diet coke cans were £6.50 at Tesco and are £4 at Asda for 2x8
Initial spend £26 gives you 8 packs. Would have cost £16 at Asda so you get a £20 voucher.
Second spend £6 plus the voucher gives you another 8 packs. So two shops £32 spent at tesco. Same would have been spent in Asda.
Third shop £6 plus voucher gives you another 8 packs. So in three shops £38 at Tesco. Asda spend would have been £48.
So in three shops you spent £38 and to date only saved £10.
Fourth shop £6 plus voucher gives you another 8 packs. In four shops you end up spending £44. Asda spend would have been £64. So now you finally make a decent saving of £20. Tesco have £44 of your money increasing there turnover and prevented us spending money at Asda. So decreasing there turnover.
You also got.to factor in your own time, petrol to do four shops...risk of na...risk of prices changes... etc. So it is saving you money but its far from free.
Don't get me wrong think its a great offer but not as cheap as we all making out. It takes serious effort to make money out of it and a lot.of repeat shops0 -
Look at it this way :
Your DTD voucher has a value printed on it -once a DTD voucher has been 'used' ie presented as payment for your shopping , it no longer has any value - its dead. You cannot present it again as payment for another shop because it no longer has a value - its a useless piece of paper JUST LIKE A FORGED £20 note!
Thats a ridiculous argument, Tesco accept COOP £5 off vouchers that have no financial value to Tesco.
If I offer Tesco an empty crisp packet as payment for my shopping they are entitled to accept or decline it, my offering the empty crisp packet is not fraud.
Tesco reserve the right to change their terms and conditions at any time, they are entitled to change their T&C and accept a voucher for a second time if they choose to do so.0 -
Exactly Buyer, it's not as good as it seems initially but it's still good. For example, If I spend £20 in Tesco's they throw in two bottles of sun tan lotion so they're probably only spending a fiver to get £20 in custom, and that's someone doing it properly. If you include the people mucking it up then it's nothing to Tesco's.
I wonder what the best basket of "free" stuff would be. By that I mean what's the max you could get without going over the £20 DTD limit. My guess is it'd be a lot of low value items.0 -
A poss new one for the spreadsheet -
VO5 Gloss me Smoothly shampoo 500ml T - £3.50 A -£2.00. DTD - £ £3.00 Net £0.50
VO5 Gloss Me Smoothly Conditioner 500ml - T - £3.50, A - £2.00. DTD - £3.00 Net £0.50
Apols if already spotted but it's getting late etc etc...In one hand and out of the Other!0 -

sorry but if you recycle your vouchers you can easy be quids in.. no serous effort required..
one £10 spend on a toothbrush can give you £16 voucher.
that £16 voucher can get you a £20 voucher
and on .. and on.. and on..
so £10 intial outlay and pennies on a spend if really needed = a lot of shopping..
i do believe it wont be getting pulled soon though but for hte reason as i said earlier. for every 1 person doing it how many thousands are not and thus making tesco money on there over priced items...0 -
Agree with you, Buyer. I am staying within the £100 per month t & c but I won't be getting £100 back. If I had bought it all at Asda it would have cost me £50 or less. I expect that is why people are "abusing" the t & c. Anyway, I have made sure that I am not out of pocket but I don't think I have made a lot from Tesco. If you shop within their t & c you won't benefit by much.0

Tesco also must have made loads of money when the limit was reduced from £100 to £20. Not many people would have had time to do multiple shops on the initial spend so most people would have ended up paying double and then just spending 100 voucher on general stuff. Breaking even at best.0 -
