  • Welcome Triple Jay. Good idea about Buffy combing the dogs (and maybe the piggies too?) to look for evidence, just in case. You`re right too about spraying/treating carpets etc, besides treating the cats.
Buffy, do you have a cat? If the fleas are biting you, it`s more likely to be cat fleas than dog fleas, but I`ve got a hunch they aren`t, and it`s something else. Sorry, not very helpful, but something (whatever it may be!) that came in with the hay sounds a fair theory. I`d certainly hoover everywhere very hard (and then change the hoover bag or whatever), but hang fire with the spraying... I`d be inclined to contact your local council pest control people, explain the details and pick their brains, before firing sprays that might not be effective.
Good luck with the detective work.x

I`ve ground to a halt now, been a very busy day but finally LR looks nice, DGD`s gone home, fire is lit & supper is all prepped ready to go. I`ve also awarded myself a little reward, and made a trifle (tired swiss roll, weary bananas and an out-of date jelly! Nobody else here will eat puds, so I`ll have to eat it all myself. Shame!
  • Right.

I have cleaned the kitchen. Well sort of,

    - fridge
    - all surfaces
    - under the sink cupboard (there should be a medal for that!)
    - the dog food Stuff
    - tupperware!
    - emptied the dishwasher
    - done washing and LOADS of tumble drying

I need to make a BIG list and a plan

    happy week to all xx

and thanks for the advice about fleas, I shall hoover daily (apparently some people do that! not me!! )
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Ok been researching re fleas and have discovered that salt and baking soda are good for killing them so I am cleaning and washing all things and then will hoover extensively. After that I will sprinkle salt and baking soda all over the place.

I think I have to repeat this for two more days.

Did I scare all the other messies away?

    xx

Hello messies! Hope everyone is well, I'll sit and have a proper catch-up soon, but I've been a little busy and pre-occupied of late!!

After 5 and a half years of contented singledom, I have a new man!!!!!:j

He's very very lovely, someone I've known for a few years, and I'm deliriously happy!!!:D

Of course he hasn't been invited to my house yet (and he knows why!):rotfl: But it's a good incentive to get me tidying! If only I could sleep I might have the energy to do it.......:smileyhea:p

    Much love everyone!!! :D

  • ^ channelling my inner 9 year old :)

Ooooook. have hoovered All over the show.

moved the furniture round in the conservatory in prep for moving the fish tank at some point.

house feels slightly more under control.

am knackered, got no lunch for tomorrow. or underwear.........hmmm.

I shall be salting the carpets and also putting baking soda down.

    Wish me luck xxx

  • Hi Messies!
CAT!!! Lovely to hear from you, but extra good to hear you`re so happy! xx
Buffy - well done with all the hoovering, good luck with the salting etc., and of course you haven`t scared all the Messies away! (though I `d begun to think I had a few days ago -I`ve only been able to post a lot recently as I`ve been on hol from work)
Re the `inner 9yr-old`, Buffy, I think mine helped eat all that trifle I made the other day!
I`m back at work on Thursday, and in for a marathon stretch...now planning meals, and resigning myself to getting no further on the great Upstairs for a bit!
I took 2 big bags of stuff to CS today, and bought a couple of Oregano plants from L!dl on the way back -put them on spare room of Doom windowsill to celebrate it being clear & accessible at last!
I`ve also done another batch of pickled eggs, and made a chicken & sweet potato curry for tonight, & we`ll have a couple of hours at the pub first to work up an appetite...last day of feeling `freeeee` as tomorrow I`ll be doing last-minute shopping bits & thinking about early night, work, getting my stuff together.
LR & kitchen have stayed reasonable since clearing up after DS`s soup-flinging episode. He was very contrite and has since made a bit of an effort, but when I`m at work and DGD`s here he`ll be `catering` for them both, so I`m resigned to coming home to just about anything!
    Hope you`re all having a good week.x

Hey guys! thanks Buffy and Emm :D - Buffy we ALL have an inner 9 year old I think!!! :p

Very tired today after staying up from 8am yesterday (it frustrates me how having a "normal" day takes it out of me so much) but I've made a start on the bathroom, just cleared all the carp out, haven't quite started cleaning yet!

Off to darts now, love to all! :D
