Evening Messies and welcome Podperson. Hope we can be of some help, even if it's the odd commiseration.

Er, who let that flylady in here, pretending to be sonastin? ;)

Great stuff, though, sonastin, and oops about the offer to paint the boat. I agree with you that being organised is less effort. Oh, that I could be like that all the time. Atm, OH and I are planning meals almost day by day, and it's just got to go wrong sometime soon. At worst, we've usually planned at least two days meals at a time, but it seems to have gone awry atm. Just as well we don't work, ist it?

FL, you farmers' wives just amaze me - so much has to be fitted into your lives. How's the other job going?

Donna, I can understand about the SAD. DD1 and I both feel so tired atm with these constantly dull days, and I'm not sleeping well at night. Emms is amazing - don't know how she does it.

And, Emms, the meals sound delicious. I'm not at all surprised you're tired!

Snookey, like hopefulMS, I'd like to know just how you're going to get the freezer into the cellar. Sounds potentially dangerous to me! Take care!

Since we put away the Christmas decs, our little house is a lot less cluttered, as the cats' bits of paper and tags have gradually 'gone', too. I vacuumed the lounge and kitchen on Monday, but the cleaner is still in this, the second bedroom, waiting for me to vacuum both bedrooms. Somehow haven't got round to it. I'm gradually working my way through the washing, but I'm not sure I'm winning. I really need to clear out two of the drawers under the bed, so I can store stuff that we really do need to keep. The new computer monitor arrived on Sunday  , and has been in its box in here since then. Finally got round to connecting it up this evening, so the box is now outside until I've checked that all is as it should be. Have just found out how to decrease the brightness, as it was hurting my eyes. Tomorrow is shopping in town day, so that'll take a while, as Mum and I want to visit a number of shops while there. With hairdresser and a meeting yesterday, and an appointment at the bank and a cuppa with Mum today, not much is getting doen this week. Ah well.

no de-cluttering today :( I came home from my dad's and basically knocked myself out (way to eager to eat and whacked my head on the cupboard door)

So OH has had me in bed all day with a ice bag on my head lol, so hopefully i'll be up and about tomorrow to do yesterday's todo list!

Happy De-cluttering girls and boys :) xxxx

    Sausage rolls made (delicious!)
    Victoria chocolate sandwich made
    Quiche made
+ loads of pasta leftovers for packed lunches tomorrow:)

    Morning Messies.

Ouch, hopefulMS! Hope you're ok today.

Donna, I so sympathise. I really MUST switch off the computer earlier in the evening - I'm sure that doesn't help me. And I had an exchange of text messages with DD2 fairly late, with her saying something rather odd. Of course, it left me puzzled, but trying hard not to worry. She's calling this afternoon from work, apparently. Well done on the cooking. I rarely cook these days - my busiest time has been and gone ie Christmas. The only time I tend to cook nowadays is when something's wanted for a church lunch. OH does the rest. We generally don't have cake in the house, as OH can't leave it alone, eats far too much, and he has to be a little bit careful these days.

Off to town for a large-ish shopping trip today, taking Mum. We only go in about once a month, and tend to use the local shops. There are some shops we need to visit now, though, so time to visit Mr M and stock up the store cupboard and freezer.
  • Good Morning Messies.

HopefulMS, I hope your head feels better today. I`ve done the cupboard door thing myself a few times.
DonnaJT, re sleep/tiredness - my sleep pattern is all over the place. I used to put it down to doing night shifts, but I`ve not done nights for over a decade now! I find that when I`ve got a few days off it`s harder to get to sleep, then harder to wake up...
then if I`ve got a long-day shift the pattern rights itself again, because it`s ALL go and I get PHYSICALLY tired, that helps switch my brain off to sleep. (That`s why I did all the cleaning after my early shift yesterday, I was still `on a roll`!)
I woke up at 6am today (head still in work mode?) and came down and put the ham on then went back to bed! When I got up again after a lie-in I thought I`d dreamed it!
Glad I did it, ham`s cooked & smells lovely!

Grousescot - re having work clothes ready the night before - Uniforms are a mixed blessing! We aren`t allowed to travel to hospital in uniform (even in the car) so the early morning pantomime goes like this...
Uniform `scrubs`, clean set rolled/folded, along with yesterdays pocket contents (!!) deodorant, hairbrush, bag of peanuts, breakfast biscuits, crushed crisps all sitting ready to grab in blue Tesco shopping bag. (I used to carry bananas around too but they tend to go brown if forgotten for a few days...)
Stumble into bathroom starkers, stumble back from bathroom, grab clean undies from undies drawer (anything) then grab nearest jumper & trousers (anything).
Stumble downstairs, coffee/fag/shoes on while Daftie-dog goes for wander outside.
Grab Tesco bag, drive to work, trot across car park and play `sardines` in tiny locker room with not enough lockers, change into `scrubs`, re-fill pockets with yesterdays pocket contents(!!), chuck travelling clothes in T shopping bag which then serves as `locker` till hometime, when the whole process is reversed.
  • Managed to get up this morning and accompany OH to the gym (Where he gave a grueling workout!!! Then came home, got OH ready to out to go and see the h*bbit, and whilst getting him ready, i pulled his belt from under the mirror in the kitchen..mirror falls on my head!! and smashes. It.Is. Not.My.Week. so OH put me to bed with scrambled eggs :D and a movie :) whilst he went to the movies with his twin (YES I HAVE A TWIN!!:rotfl:)

But i did sneak a washing load in as soon as i hear the door shut :D So i have done something today :)

I hope all are well and happy :)

  • Hopeful - perhaps you should consider wearing a cycle helmet indoors!! Hope you didn`t cut yourself, another bang on the head is quite bad enough. I`m not superstitious about mirrors, but I hate it when they break as with any glass, I`m always worried in case I miss a little shard and the dog finds it. Never has till now, but I always think it will happen..

I`ve had a little taste of the ham, it`s lovely. Haven`t quite decided what we`ll have with it this evening, but you`ve mentioned scrambled eggs and got me thinking now...
No de-cluttering today yet, but I have plucked my chin & cut my toenails (major op.)
so you could say I`ve de-cluttered myself a bit.
Have to pick OH up at 1.30, and he`s suggested the pub this evening, sounds like a plan. I`m thinking frozen mash/microwaved swede & some HM parsley sauce for when we come home.
    Laters...

I too have had problems with housework/health but always remember the housework will always be there - people you love won't, and the things you want to do won't always be possible. The difficulty I find is that I can't get the whole house clean and tidy all together as I used to, and so something of the feeling of achievement is lost because you can't collapse in a completely tidy clean house at the end of a session. BUT given the limitations that all of us do or will face, it is important to take satisfaction from what we can achieve, no matter how small.
Hope this helps you feel more positive.

You are so right coocoo51, I remember one of my dear friends saying to me once - "why would anyone want to keep their best crystal for when some random family member comes to dinner once a year but not let those most precious to us drink from them?"...made me think I no longer have any glasses off limits lol

I've always been a bit like that - could go to bed at 4am in the morning but always be up by 8am!

Hope your DD is ok bet you are a bit edgy today...hope she has called you and put your mind at rest by now

    How was shopping?

Well I have excelled myself - my bathroom is completely decluttered (if you fancy it have a look at the decluttering thread to see pics) I emptied out my airing cupboard and have gotten rid of 75% of the hideous amount of stuff crammed in there

planning on early dinner - yummy curry bath kids and early nights all round x will also make sure I tell hubby that I am not to be woken this time tho
