Sonastin - i had indeed said i'd help Mr Farmer, so i've been painting today ! I've also managed to volunteer to do some more tomorrow as well!! Not much de-messying going to get done this week
.
In between painting i've managed to sort 2 boxes out of the pantry (last minute xmas tidy up, threw a few things into boxes and hid in pantry where nobody can see!) The kids have been good too, there was some stuff of theirs in the boxes and they've put their things away without complaint and even managed to throw a few things out without complaining!! :T

I think you might have to kick me off this thread and go and send out a search party for the real sonastin - I'm really not feeling myself right now
I had the big kitchen clean before christmas and, well, its kinda stayed clean & tidy. OH blitzed the lounge at the weekend and, well, there's still nothing out of place. So far this year, I've had every meal planned, remembered to take stuff out of the freezer, made packed lunches every day, not had to do a radical re-think on what to eat because there is an essential ingredient missing or anything. I've even ironed enough work clothes to last me to this weekend and I've started getting out what I'm going to wear the next day before I go to bed (because all my clothes have been put away!) so that I can get dressed in the morning without waking OH. Because I've started getting up earlier and getting into work earlier too.
OK so we're only a week into the new year but the new me definitely feels like someone else :rotfl:
I was thinking about it on the drive home from work this evening and I realised that there is less effort required in being organised. When I slip back towards the real me, I'm going to try to remind myself of this to try and hang on to this superwoman. When I c.b.a. to load the dishwasher I need to remind myself that the next meal will be so much more work if I don't compared to the effort needed to just get it loaded. And if I've got something to wear for work, I can have an extra snooze on the alarm clock. Which makes so much difference compared to the couple of minutes needed to get something out and make sure it's wearable (not promising to iron everything but tumbly drier left things is such a state that it had to be done!)
OMG - I think I've accidentally become a flylady - someone come rescue me0 -
LOL!!! when I did that a couple of years ago, my husband thought I'd been abducted and replaced by aliens!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Just having a quick look on here while Mr Farmer gets the paint sorted for the afternoon session!
Sonastin - Well done!! I know what you mean about meal planning, i've really gotten into it lately, i have a slightly smug feeling knowing that i've got the meals organised for the week, and the kids love reading the menu when it goes up on the fridge on a monday!
Must dash, hope everyone is ok!!

Hi Messies!
Podperson - welcome, glad to have you with us.
Sonastin, well done, but of course we won`t kick you out.
Moonjelly - ((HUGS)) re the kitchen. Mine is tiny too but it`s light, I think that makes a big difference (though it does get in some states!)
I`ve just done a long-day followed by an early today, got home by 2pm and had a coffee and a read here. Nothing done here since Monday, so I felt quite envious reading how busy some Messies have been... but you`ve inspired me to get off my behind, so...
LR woolly rugs shaken, one washed, floor Henry`d and mopped, clean rug & Daftie- dog bed down, downstairs loo & kitchen & grotty bit by the back door all mopped & clean mats down. (Doesn`t smell doggy now, except for Daftie-dog herself.)
Also - humungous ham soaking to cook tomorrow. Duck ready to go in oven for tonight, cabbage/spuds & parsnips prepped to have with it.( I`m off now till weekend but 2 long-days then so having `weekend` now!)
Sofa, windowsill & mantelpiece have, amazingly, stayed clear (till DS gets back from his GF`s tonight!)
I`m tired now, so need to make fire, feed cat/dog/birds before I run out of steam.
Tomorrow I`ll try to de-clutter a bit more.
I like the idea of menu on the fridge...
When I get this ham cooked I might try that - "HAM-for the foreseeable future!"0 -

Feeling really dog tired at the moment - SAD has kicked in again and I have had to have a prescription change so I have hit rock bottom, am trying v hard to work through it but today i literally haven't moved much off the sofa!
Have just cleared fridge out - DD is going to make a batch of sausage rolls for me - (thank you Home Ec Teacher, DD almost 13 insists on making them herself) as a reward she has asked for a victoria sponge...I think I can stretch to that....gonna make a quick quiche to use up a bit of pastry and 1/2 pack of chorizo and almost out of date eggs0 -
I'm afraid I didn't make anything like as much use of the weekend as I should have done. Main bedroom floor is still a minefield of stuff to be chucked or tidied away and the old keyboard is still in the lounge when it should be dismantled and in the loft out of the way. I did however do some laundry, including the bedsheets which haven't been changed since I dread to think how long ago. I even discovered I had a spare set!
I do however have another motivating factor - I have someone coming round on Monday afternoon to do an assessment relating to a visual impairment I have. I don't consider it any excuse for not being tidy - I'm perfectly capable of seeing clutter - so I'm determined to have the place looking nice. I think this is doable by then.
Good to read of people feeling positive as a result of being organised. I'm definitely a work-in-progress on that front but I've certainly found that having things like work clothes ready the night before makes the morning routine far less stressful. I've even managed to find time to have breakfast twice this week.
Tonight's tasks for me are a brief visit to the supermarket and then prep the slow cooker for tomorrow's dinner. I suppose I should also at least make a start on my bedroom floor too.0 -
grousecot its a useful motivator someone coming to visit, lol.
Its been decided that dd room will be gutted Friday so Thursday clearing and moving by ds and I.
Emm I have cat and dog smells combined. I use a rubber mop and soap powder on the foors and rugs gets the hair and smell up in one.
My dd who is ten asked how custard and rhubarb grow on trees!. Id been talking about puddings we had as children, lol.
