My home is a mess

ohh Sashanut how utterly frustrating. kudos for you for not killing him or telling him where to stick the bloody notebook.
I sometimes wonder how I would cope living full time with a man, I would get SO annoyed. There really would be patios and shovels! lol
so today is D DAY.
I had a great idea for the guinea pigs and their cage last night - well early this morning, made me feel MUCH happier about my aim to have a restful bedroom. It is a possibility
However was awake till nearly three and am so tired!
need to get in the shed to put some stuff away and give some stuff away, finish the loft put away the decorations!
Think I might go lay down!
xxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
I cleaned DS (3 years old) bedroom from top to bottom, completely decluttered including wardrobe toys etc, got loads of stuff to freecycle but am hoping to make start on DD (12 and proper teenage tip for bedroom!) room and freecyle in one hit x0

Hi all:j
Ppping in to report progress - or lack of it:eek: Just hoping that lack of posts means that everyone is busy de-messying & it's not just me & a few stalwarts that have the mess:D
Have a lovely-lie in till 8.20 - don't feel the benefit yet, well actually feel worse atm! But onwards!! Have been in the room of doom for abt 15 mins, got another couple of bin bags full for the CS. I always joke when the man comes to collect the stuff that they will need to open another branch for our donations, but am beginning to think it's not a joke any more.............however said bin bags are still at top of stairs - asked DH to bring them into front hall, so far they are still cluttering up top of stairs:mad:Buffythedebtslayer wrote: »ohh Sashanut how utterly frustrating. kudos for you for not killing him or telling him where to stick the bloody notebook.

Yes, I totally agree, glass houses & stones come to mind when he's babbling on about the mess. There's 3 adults in this house, and no-one else does any domestic work whatsoever. I blame MIL for doing everything for all 3 men in their house, therefore none of them think they have to lift a finger:mad: TBH he is slightly better than he was, but that has taken years to acheive.
I've now spent ages in our bedroom clearing, thinking how nice if someone made a cup of tea. No such luck, went downstairs to make one, to find he is yet again asleep in front of the tv- with notebook in position. Tempted to shove it somewhere!! To be fair, he did walk (5 mins) to paper shop & back today, poor lamb:rotfl:New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -
sashanut - you're not living with my OH are you? that sounds just like him! He keeps making snide references to how WE never get round to doing things related to his finances. Well, my finances are properly up to date, he's the one who insists that we keep separate accounts etc and he's the one who keeps saying "we need to do xxx TOMORROW". It might be easier for me to do paperwork, spreadsheets, etc but I'm not gonna do the work without his input so if he wants to have a strop, he can bloomin' well do it himself!
Buffy - There are times reading your posts that I'm totally jealous of your freedom! Living with a partner has upsides, don't get me wrong but it can have its downsides tooWhen your posts coincide with OH's strops, I sit here thinking "you don't know how lucky you are!"
My biggest issue with getting 7 bags to the charity shop would be actually getting them to the CS. I don't know what it is in this area but all the CSs are located just about as far from any parking or vehicular access as they can be. And I have a habit of overfilling bags so they aren't good to carry a long way! I cleared clothes from my wardrobe months ago & asked OH to put it out for one of those doorstep collections. He forgot & offered to take it to cash-for-clothes place but neither has happened and it still sits in the hall. I can't face the thought of dragging it through town to a CS!0 -
No Sonastin - don't think I'm living with your OH although sounds like they are cut from the same - or similar - cloth:D He leaves all the financials to me - even though I am no good at them, just because he doesn't like to do them. He doesn't do 'man-work' either so I either have to get someone in to do any of that, or do it myself. And we have a huge garden too:eek:
PS - don't any of the charity shops collect round your way?? It might be wroth asking, I send everything to this one because I know I'd never get them taken in. They only come if you have about 6 or more bags I think though. HTH.
Ah well have had my cup of tea & as the sun is finally shining, I better go & put some washing on & start the downstairs. No doubt soon they will be clamouring for food, to add insult to injury.
BTW, he 'would help' to clear the house, but all that means he will get a skip - cost of £100 - & just throw everything in regardless of value or use:rotfl:Can't let him do that so it falls on me:TNew start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Morning Messies.
Buffy - well done on your clear-out. That`s a lot of bags gone, allow yourself to feel GOOD about it while you have a lie-down!
BB- I`m glad you felt your hospital visit was worthwhile. It`s a shame things take so long though.
Sashanut - & Buffy, re patios & shovels ... blokes having the odd unreasonable rant is one thing, but not apologising when they`ve calmed down (however off-hand or late the apology) is the worst bit. ((Hugs)) Sashanut.
Messy Status Report -
Yesterday I cleared the bottom half of the stairs. There was a little pile of stuff on each stair, (3 odd gloves, a torn rag-doll beyond mending, books, outgrown gym shoes of DGD`s, 2 odd slippers, a folded teatowel!!, and a broken hairbrush.) I am ashamed to think how long they`ve been there.
I also went to speak to someone at the 2nd hand book place - it`s also a cafe & odds & ends emporium - book man wasn`t there, he`s very part-time, but spoke to the woman who runs the whole place and am now going to be sorting books to take there, a box at a time. I have one box nearly full already for next week. What they don`t want I`ll drop off at the CS nearby.
I experimented with the new tagine again, cooked OH some lamb hearts (his favourite - UGH!) with carrots & shallots - he loved it, DGD & I had cheesy beans on toast cos that was what we fancied!
Today-
Decorations down, stashed in caravan of Doom.
Kitchen tidied.
Bit of freezer tetris
Pub this afternoon with OH.
Supper will be Something Interesting involving ham & chicken leftovers....I`ll be more creative after some real ale!!
Happy Sunday Messies.x0 -
Clearly not the same man but definitely cut from the same cloth. OH most certainly does "man-work" but sadly a little bit too much of it. He doesn't have a paid job as he's currently re-building our house (I've given up calling it renovation when I realised that in the *new* living room, the only original bit of the house is a small pillar of bricks near the chimney. 3.5 walls, the windows, the ceiling and the floor have all been replaced!) but he's also decided to built a narrowboat so he's now waaaaaaaaaay too busy to help out with domestic work! I save a fortune in "getting someone in" to do jobs but I have to wait until it suits him to do the job. And when we have to get someone in (currently waiting for gas engineer appointment), he gets stressed about things going out of his control. I am eternally grateful at having a man who *can* though!0

Oh I must be married to the triplet lol!
Mine moans about having to pick up me from work (i don't drive) but never thinks to cook dinner for the family on or wash up his greasy frying pan from his lunch!
Has no idea what happens to dirty clothes but is he first to moan if there is a crease in his shirt
Loves a bath but has no idea where the shower attachment is to rinse it out afterwards
won;t even mention the toilet....0 -
I went to the shed. I survived!
Unfortunately some of the stuff I stored didn't. There is mould on a lot of it and some just went straight in the bin! (we have to go to the tip tomorrow cos we now have so much that went straight in the bin.
WHY DID I KEEP THIS !!!! IN THE FIRST PLACE?!?!
Ahem.*tries to return to Zen like state*
my genius plan may not work but I need to measure things again to see for sure.
hugs to anyone buried under crap they don't want didn't know they owned or now cannot find.
Good luck! Messies Unite!Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
Thanks for all your good wishes for my new job(s).
slept in until 1pm after early night (10pm) - Naughty FA but all boys were quiet and I thought HWTHMBO had taken them out for a gallop but they were on their 'puters!
Got up and realised that I don't have all the paperwork together for my other new job (delivery driving, starts Monday) so cue me decluttering my desk searching for it, also found more paperwork in conservatory/dumping ground and sorted that too and moved a few things around in there for CS trip in three weeks time.
Pleased to say I've found everything I needed for tomorrow's adventures in deliveryland and proud to say that yesterday I managed to turn round the paperwork (i.e. it arrived at 10am I signed for it and by 12pm it was back in the post office heading back to the agency) for my new job that starts on Wednesday. :j
it feels weird having a clear desk but hoping to keep it like that for the next 4 weeks at least (agency contract is that long) and I won't be home much as I am out training to be a Community First Responder over the next 2 weekends.
Right, I'm going to declutter HWTHMBO's hair and then make dinner.
Happy new Year All!
FA
