Morning all Messies:j
Popping in to report on progress - or lack of it - to try to keep me on track:D
Friday is usually my clean-up a bit day although feeling tired today from getting up with DD22 for work (either 5 or 6am). However her last day tomorrow (Christmas job) so will be easier next week.....she has then to start looking again
Feeeling rather dispirited as did get house reasonably clear/clean last week - at least in areas where people might go - as she had a few friends round for pre-going out birthday drinks + a couple of them stayed over:eek:
You'd think it might stay a BIT tidy/clean but ohno:eek:
Have decided to do 15 mins per room aka Flylady & see where that goes. As front hall & back hall are the size of rooms, and muddy due to canines it could take till teatime - it is still raining, thought it was supposed to stop sometime soon?? Did kitchen already & DDs room - not one I would normally do but as she is at work I could get in there. And tbh it depresses me as it's the one room upstairs most recently decorated - & it is trashedShe will have to get to it when not working f/t.
Ho hum, better get off here as been interrupted twice for phone calls:mad:
Good luck with de-messying all, am now panicking as can't find an item that needs to be sent back - it came during the holiday time, got put to one side but where?????New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -

I have my hands full with just one! And don't get me started on how much hair he leaves everywhere...0 -
Morning Messies.
Buffy - Your description of upstairs being "full of decisions we won`t make" really sums up my clutter too - and probably a lot of other folks` too. The problem here has been around, growing, for a very long time, but since DS moved back home with all his clutter as well it`s got so much worse, and trying to deal with it became that much harder. OH can`t/won`t get involved, but at least he doesn`t grumble about it either.
Bearcub - your bit about your mum`s grumblings made me chuckle, but it sounds like she`s far better off where she is now - despite there being too much water in the garden!
Penguingirl - well done on the clear-out at your mums.
HopefulMS - our cat is a pain shedding hair when she roosts on DS`s clothes in his room (clean or dirty, she`s not fussy) because he lets her! Now he`s away at his GFs the cat is sleeping on top of the logs in the log-basket, doesn`t look comfy but it must be...
Sashanut- it is discouraging when a recent tidiness slips back into mess. I`ve `lost` my sofa again, but that`s temporary because of my paper-sorting efforts in last 2 days. I will deal with it today. I will...
Messy Status Report:
Kitchen - sink & worktops done, floor not too bad. I experimented last night with new tagine, pleased with result. Will fish something out of freezer to cook for tonight.
LR- One woolly rug needs changing/washing, sofa won`t take long as stuff is in various little piles, sorted.
Another trip to paper skip to do later, after a bit more shredding.
One load in WM nearly done, needs hanging around...
I will `reward` myself later, wash hair & cut toe-nails!!
Happy de-messifying all.0 -

I started the spray bottle trick about a year ago, and am doing it with the kitten too, but the kitten seems to think it's a game!! The cats in the wardrobe seem to get the idea though(but they seem to crawl back in there at night  the sneaky things!)
And well done on your de-messing!!!1924 Sealed Pot Challenge 2013 Money at the moment-£64.30 :j:j

Ok Messy update......from me
Temporarily run out of steam, forgot to mention we also have 2 long haired cats as well as the 3 filthly dogs.....say no more. Dh just laughed merrily as he described how dirty the female dog is since being let out at lunchtime - 'looks like she's been dipping her head in muddy water'. And I just finished mopping all the dowstairs floors....
Never mind, I am doing a Jamie 15 min meal for supper. Well that was the plan - I thought a) looks easy & b) have all ingredients. Only to find I don't have all the ingredients - well I do but in order to do the recipe I need to cook lentils first, after spending ages looking for that tin of them I thought I had...I already spent longer than 15 mins looking for the darn things:rotfl:Tagine sounds good, have one but not used it so far..
OK am going to attack some of the other rooms this afternoon, when dh has left the building (we both work from home:eek:)
Hope to get into room of doom for at least 15 mins, fit that in somewhere hopefully, don't want to lose momentum. With any luck no visitors this w/end, so no stash & dash needed.
And I do think, it's not quite so bad to clear up as I am starting from a higher clean level IYKWIM:DNew start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -
Just catching up my receipts on my spreadsheet and discovered that I have had 14 NSDs in a row over xmas (last spent on 21 December and the next spend was on 2 jan, but I kicked the a$$ out of that as I spent £545 (including fixing my car/filling it with fuel/food shop/taking DS#1 to cinema) in the last 2 days.
and I have something else to declare...
I've got a job, after being out of work since April last year..
it's a full time (M-F, 9-5) temp one for 4 weeks initially but it's somewhere i've been wanting to work (even if it is a 45 minute communte in completely the wrong direction for everything!) It starts on Wednesday (i have to sort out childcare and can't do it at very short notice), so I have been rushing around sorting out childcare, food, mobile top ups and bus passes etc. I'm hoping that I get my contract extended after this one finishes...
better remember to call the CTC, JSA, Council tax people and tell them the good news!
So, I'm guessing I won't be demessying for a long time nowjust in case you need to know:

Hi all
Happy New Year, I know its a bit late but we have been away visiting family.
Congratulations on the job FA, fingers crossed it gets made permanent.
I sympathise with anyone who feels ashamed of their house. I always feel like this and it doesnt help that we really need to spend some money on our house but dont have the cash to do it. I also feel that because I dont work the house should look really nice but it never does.
Came back from visiting family today then went straight to a hospital appointment with my Dad. When I got home hubby had taken everything out of the car from our visit away and dumped it all over the kitchen. Then our neighbour called. She is one of those people who has a perfect home and always calls when our house looks a complete mess. Dont know how she does it.
So tomorrow I need to sort out the rest of the unpacking. I also need to start sorting out the things lurking around the house that arent in their proper homes. Does anyone else have these things? Like the sewing machine that has been on the landing for months, or the books that have been on top of a shelf to be returned to a friend - you get to the stage where you just walk past these things without seeing them any more!
I also have a couple of bags of things to go on ebay lurking in the corner of our bedroom. I either need to actually get them listed or just take them to the charity shop.
I might go round the house and make a list of things to get rid of or rehome then I can tick it off.0 -
Happy New Year to you, too, YL. Don't you just hate it when they just dump stuff? OH never puts clothes away that he's been wearing; they're just dumped on the nearest piece of bedroom furniture . I have things like the sewing machine that don't really have a proper home. I rarely use the machine, but keep it for the very odd occasion I do. So, the machine usually hides behind the futon in this, the second bedroom, but it has to be moved to the conservatory whenever DD2 and bf come to stay. I think it can be moved to the loft - which need a clear out when the temperatures go up a bit!
Congratulations on the new job, FA! :T And not just 'any' job, either, by the sound of it. I hope all goes very well.
HopefulMS, I so remember that 'need' to sleep with depression - used to drive my OH mad, even though he tried not to show it. Well done on the bargain! DD1 brought some boots over with her for Christmas, that she bought online, but found they're too tight,a nd it'll cost her half their price to send them back. I was hoping they'd fit me, but they're tight on me, too. Such a shame.
Sashanut, you're a glutton for punishment, aren't you, with all those animals? In the recent wet weather we've all had, dogs must be a nightmare. A friend of mine has two border collies, and one just loves to be as wet and muddy as possible - don't know how my friend copes with it. Very disappointing about the recipe.
We have two young cats who like to come through the windows, so our bedroom window sill is almost always covered in muddy paw prints. As for the wardrobe, they'd love to get in there, too, but I'm not even considering it until the garden dries out.
Today has been a pretty unproductive day - seem to be 'working' on alternate days atm. I sorted the dried washing, and did another WM load; I've cleared all unwanted papers and books from the top of the chest of drawers. That's about it, I think. The Christmas tree is coming down tomorrow, then we can put the lounge furniture back the way we like it.0 -
So much to do....where to start?
am in grumpy mood today cos hubby woke me up far too early
think i am going to disappear back up to bed with a cup of tea and start the day all over again...0
