  • Morning Messies! I just had a quick read, off to work in a min.
Mrs Hoppy, welcome! If you saw my upstairs now you`d say I was the LAST person to offer advice, but I can see real progress, I just ran out of time yesterday! Nothing will be done today, but I`ll get back to it tomorrow. You just have to prioritise, and you have baby & being pregnant to juggle so don`t beat yourself up about not getting everything done,
Have a nice day all xx

for me it is the-opposite-of-shiny thing syndrome :D When I'm midway through one task, I walk into another room to put something away or fetch something and realise just what a grim state that room is in and make a start on fixing that instead of finishing job no.1 (or 2 or 7 or 25!)

That's where the timer worked for me when I was having my mass clear out. I'd work for 15 minutes then when the timer went off deal with all the stuff, and I'd always keep the timer in my pocket. If I wandered into a room and felt the urge to do something in there I'd set the timer and do 15 minutes. So I'd find myself bouncing around the house and a little would get done in different rooms some days and on other days I'd do multiple sessions of 15 minutes in the same place.

I guess it's a double edged sword which ever approach is taken - focus on one room and that looks great but shows the other rooms up to be a tip (not that I'm judging anyone else by how bad my house was). Do a bit in lots of rooms and it can take longer to see the difference anywhere. But, plugging away is plugging away.

Today I am budget and food planning - long term. We're having a year of serious saving next year but I really don't trust DH's boss so I'm going to really ramp up my attempts, I just have a bad feeling about it. Have a good day everyone.

I know what you mean I did kids rooms they looked immaculate for 2 mins:rotfl::rotfl:

I am doing budget/food planning for similar reasons, started by doing a stock take and typing up a list of everything we have, am now making meals out of them (and trying to stretch each meal, by adding extra veg etc and then freezing half for another night). Did a big search for budget recipes and saved the ones that will suit our family - most have been winners but there have been the occasional loser .

Really enjoying finding recipes for items that i have no idea why I bought or things that nobody likes...today I am going to make chocolate brownies with the kids to get rid of weetabix that I bought for when my nephew stays - he stays about twice a year so they have to go!!!

Made a gorgeous soup the other day - cost pennies and fed DH and I lunch three days and dinner last night

This being poorly is working well - my ironing pile consists of DS jeans, jumper and vest!!!

If anyone has money to spend Argos are doing 3for2 on all toys this weekend - bagged myself 3 things off the kids wishlist and saved £30, even better cos I won a £50 Ilovetoshop voucher .... so technically £80 worth of toys for zero!
  • Thanks for the welcome and the tips! Defo trying to do a bit at a time - bought a bath net on a deal from amazon and it has made a big difference in the bathroom now there aren't 50 rubber ducks on every surface!

Going to get a bathroom cabinet too this week and get all my bottles of stock toiletries in there nice and organised to free some drawers up and help operation oragnise!!

I am rubbish at the moment as my head is all in xmas thinking about presents and looking for crafty things to make!

Thats a really good idea to find recipes to use up stuff in your cupboards, have loads of cereals we need to use up so think I'll be making rice krispie cakes later yum!!

I use of a lot of basics chocolate when baking and doesn't bother me there but need to stock up for making xmas chocolate slabs but my hubby seems to think if it isn't dairy milk or galaxy it won't be very nice as a slab. I will be putting other flavours in the slabs so might be fine and defo save some £!:)

where's the completely worn out smiley when you need it.
SO lets see where am I at?
    Hi all the newbies
I don't post much on here but have daily subscription so I get to see everything that everyone else posts and keep up to date that way.

Last night HWTHMBO decided he was going to sort the radiators out (balance them??) :eek:which meant that he pulled everything out of everywhere but the worst part was he had to dismantle my desk as it's right in front of the rad.
Of course my desk isn't tidy at the best of times but it had EVERYTHING on it as I've been doing battle with the CTC people. luckily I had some boxes to chuck it all in so last night the assorted boxes got bunged in the [STRIKE]conservatory[/STRIKE]dumping ground and I'll sort them out over the weekend.:rotfl:

Ok so rather than sort out the boxes from my desk I decided that I was

Sorted out DS#1's room - including press for children's bedcovers etc
Sorted out DS#2's room - including swapping out summer stuff for winter stuff
Sorted out bathroom - inlcuding large double cupboard with toiletries in
Sorted out porch - including shelf unit with everyone's stuff on it (how many hats does one child need?)
Sorted out front room - including putting back all stuff pulled out to sort radiators
Sort out dining room - includes clearing dining table of assorted detritus accumulated because I went to bed early last night.

Kitchen already done (by HWTHMBO) as just had new cooker delivered and set up after old one was condemned by the National Grid (gas) man when we discovered a leak.
I haven't vacuumed in ANY of the rooms as I can't lift the Henry and the kids prefer to Henry their rooms themselves.

I've only got the 'Office', Conservatory and (whispers) Shed to sort out and I'm home free. :j

I wonder if I can get away with feeding everyone pasta again tonight?

Right, that's HWTHMBO arrived home, better go or he'll think I've spent all day on here again!:rotfl:

    have a great weekend all

I have done nothing today apart from...

    MAKING MY OWN WASHING POWDER
    2x bars dove (Asda £1) = £1
    500g Soda Crystals (Asda 90p 1kg) = 45p
    500g Borax (Local Chemist £1.59) = £3.04

1tbsp per wash and 2tbsp for a heavily soiled load

It smells lovely - can't wait to try ... but I have nothing dirty until the morning
