My home is a mess

What's everyone doing today?
I'm going to do a bit of cleaning in the main bedroom - change the sheets, tidy my wardrobe, there's laundry to put away and a few other bits and bobs. It's a really sunny day so hopefully I'll be able to get the bedding washed and dried with no messing.
With my laundry bag, it's not that we have a load of stuff it's just that I usually put off doing the hand washing but because everywhere was cleaned last week I felt I had the time and space to get it done! Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning alec eiffel - i had good intentions today - bath, avon, tesco, housework...the childminder had an emergency so son home and DD still home with ear infection...so plan went out of the window
Huge chilli in slowcooker, will half one for today and freeze the rest for a chilli and potato wedge cake
Been working on my recipe files - down to about 1/2 a folder of recipes I want to try and a load of word documents to sift thru - but that's great progress
Plan for today is bath, clean bathroom, bedrooms and good hoover upstairs and deliver Avon, also need to go to GP and collect repeat prescription and hoping to get to chemist to buy some borax cos I want to make my own washing powder!0 -
Morning messies.
What a shame that all your plans had to be dropped, donna. The recipe sorting thing is the sort of activity I enjoy. Despite not being an administrator in any way, I love bringing order out of chaos - with paperwork, anyway! As for the CBA, I'm not really a lazy person, but have a fidgety brain. I have problems settling to one task sometimes, as my brain tends to be very active! And, as someone who's also had depression (though only failry short term), thinking ain't always good!
I have a load in the WM, and am in the process of folding the washing that's been drying. We (OH, Mum and I) are off to town in a while. We only go in every 3-4 weeks, when we need to visit shops other than for food and other household products ie basically what you'd buy in the supermarket. I desperately need some new trainers; tried to get some the last time I was in town. It took me ages to find some in the chaos that is the almost warehouse-sized shop then, after fighting my way through endless racks of 'designer sports wear' (HOW do they pass fire regs??!!), I found the queue at the tills was very long, so I dumped the shoes back on the shelf and left. I have a short fuse when it comes to inefficient businesses.:mad:0 -
Plan for today: Upstairs!
Need to declutter my spare room, there's a lot in there stacked up for a car boot sale but not really enough to do one by myself so will prepare that to go up neatly into the loft. Need to just tidy the main bedroom as well, the wardrobe is in a right state (we share one, and for some unknown reason the hanging space is taken up mostly by clothes that are too small for him...hmmm.)
Need to tidy up the now redundant tomato patch in the garden too, and have a good diet day! Had such a rubbish week last week so I didn't lose as much as I should have, so it's annoying me. I've sorted a diet action plan with small targets so hopefully that should help.
The timer thing only works because I'm using an actual timer! I used to be like 'oh, I'll have half an hour on the laptop now' and I'd get so engrossed in whatever I was reading that two hours later I'd still be on there. It's good to have something audible as a proper reminder that you can't ignore!
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time0 -
I can use a timer for doing things that I want to end but I don't have the discipline to follow it when it's something I don't want to stop iyswim. My washing machine has a timer than beeps when it's done so I often have a "just keep moving" morning when I just bod about doing things until the timer goes off on the machine. Which is great as a cycle is about 2 hours, so I get lots of things like ironing done because there's an end in mind but I find it too easy to ignore an alarm if I'm doing something like reading blogs or quilting. Spoilt brat that I am.0

Oh I hate shops like that, in fact I hate shopping full stop!
As for my recipe sorting, I am loving, brain is completely at rest focused on the task at hand. I keep a big plastic bin next to the desk and just searching the recipes I have in front of me on word docs, copying and pasting and looking pretty into two documents - Fav Domestic Goddess Recipes and Recipes to try, aiming to get them done by Monday so I can print at work on TuesdayPlan for today: Upstairs!

The timer thing doesnt work for me I have a 5pm alarm at work, i finish at 5:15, I am still hitting the snooze button at 5:30 - need to improve this!
Chilli smells lovely in the slowcook, no idea what to have for lunch?alec_eiffel wrote: »I can use a timer for doing things that I want to end but I don't have the discipline to follow it when it's something I don't want to stop iyswim. Oh for heaven's sake.
Hoovering the bedroom. Someone left the handsfree kit for his iphone on the floor. Up the hoover it goes. Broken, broken broken. Just ordered him a new one and now hoping that the hoover isn't brokenalso hoping I don't get shouted at.

Afternoon Messies,
I did a little tidy of the kitchen this morning, then went to spend a few hours with my friend and her 4 month old baby. I washed up when I got back and then my mom popped over for a cuppa, so there hasn't been a great deal happening on the messy front.
I'm a bit like you Bearcub, I get distracted by other things, I like to call it 'shiny thing syndrome' where I will start one job, then drop that task for another more appealing when I get bored!
I still have an hour or two this afternoon, so I will attempt to do a quick blitz of the lounge. Bit of dudsting, putting paperwork and mail into their correct spots.
Good luck to whomever is clearing up the mess this afternoon!0 -
Hi Messies!
I haven`t used the timer today after all, but I`ve been on the go non-stop since 11.30 today, and now I`m awarding myself a half-hour break so I`ve set it!
I`ve been clothes sorting, between bedroom & spare room, but nipping downstairs in between to feed the washing machine, hang stuff, etc. (4th load on now - not really `dirty` stuff, just quick-wash to freshen things.)
Nowhere near finished, not the end result I have in mind that is, but as I didn`t expect to reach my target I`ve allowed for that & used folding storage crates, all on bed at the mo but simple enough to move into the corner in a stack when I finally grind to a halt.
(Long day at work tomorrow so not doing much more upstairs, early night tonight then plan on assembling the new clothes-hanger effort on Saturday.)
Haven`t thought about supper yet, but my soul is yelling for chips!!! Think I`ll get some braising steak out of freezer, onion gravy...sorted!
Drags self off to kitchen...0
