in a mess, as usual :D Not helped by the addition of another dog to the household! I did get made permanent at my admin job though so things are on the up and up, so long as OH doesn't get made redundant on Thurs *positive thoughts positive thoughts*. How are you getting on Bearcub?

  • Hi everyone. I must make more of an effort to keep up with you all. I dont know where the time is going at the moment but I seem to have a never ending list of stuff that needs doing and despite my efforts I just seem to keep adding more stuff to the list!

Looking round the kitchen now I really ought to tidy up and empty the dishwasher now so it gives me a head start in the morning but I am tired and dont want to bother! Maybe should have half an hour and see what I can do.

We did have a nice half term last week though and the kids enjoyed it. We were planning to go away but money is a bit tight and actually I am glad we didnt spend the money now, we did some nice things from home instead.

OK off to tidy up and make some plans for what needs to be done tomorrow I think. Night all!

Yep, I'm fine, MM. We were looking after friends' four ponies last week, as well as our own, and seemed to spend a lot of time almost up to our ankles in mud - and it wouldn't stop raining! One of our two young cats has to visit the vet tomorrow. His female companion ripped him to pieces a couple of weeks agao and, despite our best efforts, his injuries, although not serious, aren't healing, because he just won't leave them be.

And you have another dog? Are you mad? ;) I'll be sending positive vibes your way for Thursday. We went through the uncertainty of that some years ago - worrying time.

YL, good to see you. Good to hear, too, that you all had a good half-term. Going away on holiday isn't always what it's cracked up to be. Since we moved to the island, we've become quite insular. If we do go over to the 'north island', it's always so good to get on the ferry going home.

I had an attack of activity this afternoon - washed the kitchen and bathroom floors, cleaned the hob and work surfaces, and hung washing up to dry. Think I may have an early night to recover. :rotfl:
  • Well, so far I've bitten the bullet and bought a bookcase for my office/spare room/hidey hole. I've probably just come to the realisation that I should be spending money on the house. We've been here a year and a half and I still haven't bought lampshades for some of the rooms.

So most of the cookbooks have been picked up off the floor and given new homes, made the bed, had a general tidy in the living room and now my kitchen timer is ticking down my 15 minutes laptop time! OH went into work early today so will be home early and even though this is my holiday he won't be too happy with me if I haven't done much **rolls eyes**

Poor kitten, hope the inevitable lampshade collar doesn't bother it too much!

Sometimes you just have to buy something to help things along. Things like bookcases are so useful but seeing the money leave my purse to pay for one, even if it's a cheapy brings me pain!

Same. OH has accused me of being a skinflint but I think sometimes he forgets that it's my saving habits that get us the big stuff, like this house!

Back on another 15 minute break. These go far too quick, but I have folded the dry laundry, washed up, washed down most of the counters and cleaned the bathroom. Want to do the floor but will go for a shower soon and I just know I'll end up slopping water everywhere!

I love how disciplined you are to stick to your 15 minute breaks!

I've puttered this morning doing bits and bobs and I've finally reached the bottom of the laundry bag. Flipping heck.

    Afternoon Messies.

Yes, bookcases are very useful, MM. Not much worse than always falling over books, or moving them from place to place. We only have one bookcase, in the conservatory, and I keep the number of books very under control. OH isn't interested in reading, and any fiction books (rare) go to a CS as soon as I've read them, or to someone I know would like them.

No lampshade on the cat, fortunately. the vet said he couldn't put one on because of where some of the wounds are. He's given Garfy an anti-inflammatory jab, that should stop the itching and soreness in 3-4 days, and last 6 weeks - enough to allow the skin to heal.

Sounds as if it was a shock to the system, alec e ;). I'm amazed that I'm managing to keep the washing at a manageable level, given we don't have a tumbly drier (reminds me, I hope Kitty's still happy), and no launderette for miles.

DD2 and her partner moved into their own house last week. since she's always lived in furnished rented places since she left home, it came as a bit of a shock to her just how much had to be bought. And it wasn't just the big stuff, because she suddenly realised that she had no bin in the kitchen! :rotfl:

alec - the bottom of the laundry basket? I wonder what that looks like. Been a while since I've seen ours. Actually that's my fault as I'm holding OH's woolly jumper to ransom. We borrowed my gran's heated airer to dry his woollies last year and something broke so we can't put it up any more. OH promised to fix it but hasn't gotten round to it yet. Until such time as that is repaired, I can't dry his jumper flat so I won't wash it! Maybe I should check that there's nothing under it in the laundry festering though :rotfl:

bearcub - we're heading down to Hampshire this weekend. Gonna be in Gosport some time on Friday so i'll give you a  You're at the west end of the island aren't you?

MM - personally I've never seen the point of lampshades! My mother is so pleased that OH brought some lampshades with him when he moved up because my preference for bare bulbs always drove her mad. As I see it, if you look up you see the bulb or the underside of the shade anyway, unless its one of those uplighter thingys that blocks the light :D

Need to empty the carp out of my car this evening ready for the drive down south tomorrow night. I keep my car messy as the last bastion of "me"-space - OH tries to dictate about how clean that should be but I just ignore him as its MY car. But as we've got a 500-mile round trip, I'll be nice and clean it out ;)
  • Hi Messies!
    MessyMare, welcome back!!
Bearcub, hope Garfield recovers quickly & doesn`t annoy Star again in the meantime!

I`ve been all over the place last few days, mostly errands for others when not at work... today I`ve been shopping - for us & DD. Just rang her, they`re not in till after 3...grrr. I`ve bought a clothes rail from Lidl, but can`t assemble it till I`ve made space for it, need a good clrea-out in bedroom first. Was hoping to get on with some of that today, but by the time I drop stuff off at DD`s and get back it`ll be time to light the fire & get supper going & get cosy. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow...
I`ve got more egg-pickling to do as well. Seems I`ve started something!
FW - The `tatie pot` sounds nice, I don`t like black pudding but OH does. Might give it a try & fish the bits out for him!
I`ll head off to DD`s now, via the skips to take a load of cardboard I de-cluttered..
