My home is a mess

Hello Sonastin.
Yes, we're in the western 'corner' of the diamond. I hope it's failry clear day, and I'll wave back.
Have a safe journey down.
You amaze me, Emms, that you don't totally collapse once you stop rushing about! I hope none of the shopping's frozen stuff, so you have to put it away, then take it all out again.0 -
Hi all, can I join in, was diagnosed with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) last week so have been decluttering and moving furniture around to make my home more light and airy. Have joined a couple of the other threads on here - and have found reading the backlog and joining in has made me feel a lot more positive
My house is my castle and I desperately want to get on top of the housework again (its not a tip just organised chaos lol!), as i have been at home for a couple of days due to SAD, i have done loads of decluttering and kitchen looks amazing, also on top of washing and ironing and everything is back in its normal place - just need to start cleaning now, thanks for listening x0 -
Hi donnajt - welcome to the messies! If you've started from the point of organised chaos, you're one step ahead of most of us... I can only dream of organising our chaos.
I haven't been diagnosed with SAD but pretty sure I've suffered with it in the past. I currently have a desk by the window at work and insist on the blinds being open even if the sun is blinding me. Drives me boss mad but his desk is behind the pillar so its only when he comes to my desk that it affects him!0 -
Bearcub - thanks for your kind words! I do a sort of visual collapse (ignoring the mess when I`m too pooped to do anything more about it!) DD`s wasn`t frozen stuff, but she`ll freeze some herself, justfresh veg etc & fridge stuff - wasn`t a problem, it was cold enough sat in the boot of the car. All safely delivered, just lit the fire & got another load of eggs boiling ready to pickle!
DonnaJT - I`m glad you`ve found the `Messies` thread helpful, and it sounds like you`re getting on well with things. I`ve always felt more lethargic and de-motivated when the days are all grey, so I`ve often wondered about SAD myself. Are there degrees of severity, I wonder. Anyway, good luck with dealing with it, and keep posting to let us share how you`re doing.
Tomorrow, I`ve decided I`m not going ANYWHERE, going to stay here & tackle at least a few hours` worth of sorting bedroom. I`ll use the `timer` idea, and time my breaks as well - see you all then!0 -
I just resent spending money on anything I can't eat or play with really! It was pointed out to me that out of all the lights in the house only one has a lampshade...oops! I'll get on it eventually. In the meantime it's just less to dust and look shabby :P
Thanks Alecto be honest, once I've caught up with blogs etc on the internet I'm not too bad. It's just getting going in the mornings! Especially when I'm off work, I have so little motivation.
Well done for everyone's achievements today
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time0 -
Emm - We'll sort bedrooms together
I've got our main bedroom and my little spare room to do, will use my pink kitchen timer too

Hey Messies,
I've been way off the radar of late, mainly because my laptop has readched the end of its days! I bought it in 2006 so I guess thats a good lifespan for an average laptop. Have borrowed on temporarily until I can find a new one to buy.
I am on holiday from work, I don't go back until 22nd Nov! Have lots of nice things planned but I have been slacking on the cleaning up. All I'm doing is covering the basics really! Today I have managed to go out and get the food shop doneand everything is packed away in its proper place!
MM I do like your timer idea - very disciplined!
Welcome DonnaJT, we're quite good in this thread. We'll try to motivate but we don't tell you off if you can't be a*sed one day! :rotfl:0 -
Welcome, donnajt. SAD is awful, and I think more of us suffer with it, even a little, than we realise. With me, it takes the form of wanting hibernate on darker days, but I have to go out every day, to see to the horses, which helps give me a push start. I'm not recommending (in any way!) that you get yourself a horse or two, but something that you have to do, preferably outside can be useful.0

Most of us suffer with the winter blues - which most of us suffer with esp after xmas when the bills come in and payday is so far away, the best medicine for SAD/Depression/Blues - is being outdoors - bit of exercise and lots of fresh airBexterragga wrote: »Welcome DonnaJT, we're quite good in this thread. I had given myself a list of jobs - esp as everyone was in bed by 7:30 - I have literally sat on the laptop ... off to put white wash in so its dry for morning0 -
Left to me, donna, I'd be in a CBA frame of mind every day! :rotfl:0
