:T Brilliant, FW! And how's the job going - the vet one, that is, not being a farmer's wife.

Today, I have fought a battle with a huge dogwood bush and almost won, and I've cleaned cat pawprints off the lounge furniture. Maybe once they're outside, they'll enjoy walking on the top of the fences, rather than above floor level indoors.

Mine looks fine.. both yesterday and today - came in after work, done the cat trays, swept the whole flat with rubber broom and washed up straight after eating.. wiped the worktops.

When I say it looks fine it is just that - fine. It is not clean but fine and I can live with that....
  • Thanks Bearcub! The vet job is fab, i'm really enjoying it! I'm hoping to tidy the living room tomorrow.................:rotfl:

    Well done, both.

Fine is fine, GR, when you feel under pressure, for whatever reason. As long as you can live with the situation, that's really all that counts.

FW, I'm so pleased for you that you're enjoying the job. I have to say that, even though I'm very happily retired, if I lived closer to one of the animal rescue centres, I'd have volunteered by now to help out.

Think I'm off to bed in a mo, to read for a while. I've been sitting at the pooter a lot today, partly because I've been putting together a newsletter for next month. Trouble is, I should have received a large item for the front page, which hasn't materialised yet. Am I going to have to 'nudge' the person concerned, I wonder. I do hate to bother him when he's so busy.
  • Morning all! Day off today, had a bit of a lie-in and then felt I didn`t want to `miss` any more of the day. It`s sunny but cold enough to make me feel I was more comfy in bed... and the sort of sunny that highlights all the dusty bits everywhere.
I had a very busy but satisfying shift yesterday, maybe because I really enjoyed it so much I didn`t realise I was still this tired till I`d already got up! I`ve got a study day tomorrow (morning only), then a long day on Saturday, then my WEEK OFF!.
    I`ve made a List...
Not a very realistic one to fit into just one week, I know, but I`m thinking if I get something done today it`ll give me a head start....
  • I could happily have had a lie in today too Emm.

So far today I have aired and made the bed, straightened the single bed and made up the spare bed. Cleaned the bathroom sink and loo, swept the living, dining and kitchen areas, cleaned the worksurfaces, put laundry away, done a load of laundry and hung it up, tidied the airing cupboard, cleaned out the buns, emptied the recycling bins, put bird food out, cleaned the dish drainer and draining board, had a two minute tidy about, dusted the tv unit and coffee table and swept the stairs. Going to have a brew and a bit of quilting time now.

    Have a good day everyone.
  • Hello fellow messies, long time follower/lurker..first time poster!
So after the OH divorce came thru and we moved back into his house dear god it was a mess, the tenants left in a hurry and ex wifey agreed no damage deposit so......
nearly 2 years on and so much has been done...every single room needed overhauling completely.
some rooms we did temp patchups on until we had money to do the proper fix but there still about 3-5K left of work to to.

lounge - reseal double glazing and paint, retile fire plate and replace radiator.
hall - replaster! replace a few floor boards and repaint the lot
lounge- sweep chinmey, paint floorboards, skirting, reseal doubleglazing
kitchen - vinyl flooring, paint, skirting, put shelving up
bathroom-new door is all it needs!
stairs-sand and paint after replaster walls and put up handrail
kids room-rip up laminate and paint old floorboards, skirting, paint
master - nothing! this is my only sanctuary
loft-GUT it, all into the skip or car boots...all oh ex wifes crap.
garden-dear god, no idea where to start!!! replace fence panels, clear it, lay weed sheet, paving stones and gravel it out
exterior-paint front o house and lay new roofing felt on the bay
oooooo and replace the boiler! have not factored that cost in, think my commission pay end of septemeber/october will take care of that.

luckily we can do most ourselves and the plan is to be finished by next july 1st, spend the summer and winter in it then put tenants back in and move into a bigger rented ourselves until we can save enough for deposit....
and on top of that it needs a clean,,,,two dogs, 3 stepkids and one messy OH means for never ending
both of us work full time and i amd doing my degree distance in spare time.
  • Welcome Rosiesposies. Bless you, all that to do AND doing distance degree in `spare time`! I had to have a sit down after just reading that!
And Alec Eiffel - you`ve done all that stuff before I`d even got started.
Still, I have got started, and done a fair bit already-
LR rugs shaken, dumped at launderette, then collected & now on line outside.
LR Henry`d, mopped, & clean rugs down (stored in caravan of Doom, so a bit of caravan tetris while I was at it. Kitchen birdfood containers refilled from sacks in caravan, box of catfood brought in, teabags & sugar tubs refilled from caravan store)
DGD`s room - NEARLY found her carpet...second load from her `floordrobe` in WM now, This 2nd load is mostly her flannelette pyjamas, splattered with ketchup.
    (awards self pat on head...)
    Next -
Thorough fridge check & wipe shelves.
Another WM load/ hang 2nd load outside
    Trim Daftie-dog`s toenails...
    Onward & upward then...
  • I just get a bit of a boost if I do things early, there have been so many times I've been upstairs making the bed as DH gets home from work. I just have a quick blitz and it stops me feeling sluggish for the rest of the day. And believe me there are plenty of days where not much goes on!
  • Afternoon

Well I was up just after six and as I was awake thought I'd get on
    So
I've had a shower, make-up, straightened my hair ( haven't done this is months, the hair that is not the shower lol)
    Stripped the bed
    Loaded th WM
    Wrote a shopping list
    Emptied DW
    Cleaned kitchen
    Loaded DW
    Made doctor appt for mia
Went to Mr T, mothercare and boots
    Went to doctors
Cleaned living room and dining room
Put clean sheets on the bed
    Tidied bedroom
    Tidied landing and stairs

Blimey, think that will do for now
