  • GR - it`s bad enough when my old Daftie-dog (whose bowels are Just Fine on Wafcol salmon/potato - only the most expensive in the range at 40 quid a sack but I happily fork out for her `biccits` because they suit her) gets her head in just ONE pouch of catfood, or even half a pouch... that`s bad enough.(( (HUGS))) & sympathy.xx
Sonastin - ((HUGS)) - & sympathy - maybe the menfolk will listen...one day ...don`t hold your breath!
I`ve just arranged a date with chimney sweep for Monday. Autumn is here...

    Had a dabble today

Ironing for 1 hour and it is all done

Hoovered downstairs - that gave a few twinges so

Rested for the remainder of the day doing a jigsaw

Hope you are all well x

To be fair to OH, he had done some tidying today. But I didn't appreciate the pointed manner in which he said he'd put away HIS clothes so now I just needed to put away my rubbish. Like I haven't had to live with his clothes lying where he dumped them for 6 weeks.

    Sigh.

But he did take me out for dinner tonight because I didn't have time to go shopping and we have no food in the house. Maybe he's not all that bad.

But I did get another lecture on drying laundry in the house. He has got the hint and is talking about staying to get on with getting the heating sorted before he goes back to his other project to finish that up.

I might not have to give Npower more for my electric than I give Santander for my mortgage after all!
  • Had a bit of an organisational fail last night. My remoska died and the circuit board did what it should so of course I tested the remoska in another socket and that made all the electricity go off. So I went to the pantry to get my emergency torch - not there. So I went to the bedroom to get the emergency torch from my bedside table - not there.

The meter cupboard is really dark so I had to light my way using my mobile phone. But where are the torches???

Been up since 7, OH's birthday so took him tea and toast in bed.

Have dusted the lounge and now having a rest.

My plan is to try to do one small job every 2 hours and see how the pain goes. I am not turning the TV on till much later - there is only so many episodes of Come Dine With Me that I can watch
  • Hi all

Alec, torches are like pens. They disappear just when you really need one!

Its grey and chilly out so I have lit the stove. Its so cosy in here now but its not helping my motivation to move and do housework! Been out with the dog for an hour, washed the car, done some washing and made meatballs for tea.

Sonastin, your OH is like mine. I could scream at him sometimes, especially when he cant find something and I am thinking "well if you put things away after you in the first place ....."

Ah well, I should get the iron out really and get that done then its out of the way. Going to have to do some work next week so I need to try and get as up to date as I can.
  • You're not wrong, the torches still haven't turned up, which just makes me think I'm going to need one again some time soon!

Hi all sorry I haven't been around much but been a bit down so not made any effort on the house so felt a bit annoyed at myself.

However the fog seems to have lifted so here's hoping I can get some cleaning done this Sunday.

I'm really struggling at the moment since OH has gone. He use to let me finish work at 10:30pm so I could get home to do stuff before work next morning. Now we aren't working together the main manager won't send me home any earlier than 11:45-50 by the time I walk home it's 12:10-15 and I still have to feed animals ect.

I gave her a letter last week requesting reduction in my hours so here's hoping.

I have my mum down next week so need to get my butt in gear to get house ready :(

Hope your all ok and again Gettingready I can't get over how handsome Teddy is!

Totally! I get "what have you done with...?" I haven't touched it. "Well its not in (some place). I always put it back when I use it and its not there now." (finished with an unspoken "so you must have moved it"). I try to refrain from cataloguing the dozen different "some places" that that particular item has been put back into over the last few months because I know that won't help matters. Its especially frustrating when I start looking for whatever it is and get quizzed on "why are you looking there. Why would it be there. I wouldn't put it there" - guess where I find it half the time - and its not like he knows where he put it:rotfl:

Alec- I've given up on torches. I now have a mobile phone with a torch function which is usually easier to find in the chaos. You can betcha that its gonna go missing next time we need a torch & I have to find it by the light of my work blackberry or something! At the moment we have a wind-up camping light beside the utility room door - no idea why. I'll put money on the next powercut being the day that OH decides to tidy the utility room and put the light "somewhere" ;)

Faith - you can borrow my mum if you like. She came round to my pigsty to tidy it up before OH came home. Long gone are the days when I thought I should tidy up for my mum. She raised me -it must be her fault I'm like this! Last week she was looking after my neices at my bro's house & tidied that up while the girls had their nap. Then she took them back to her place and the 3 of them, my bro, SIL and me all met there to get ready to go out to a family do. So my bro & SIL got to go home to a lovely clean tidy house and she went back to a lounge filled with toys, bathroom filled with wet towels, spare room doused in changes of clothes, make up, hair straighteners etc. I ended up staying over and helping her tidy up the next day because I felt so bad. Bro got to enjoy his nice house scot-free though!

Can I join this thread please and receive some advice?

My neighbour aged 85 is living in total chaos and dirt. She is nearly blind and disabled. A so called private carer is supposed to clean for her but does nothing at all. I was asked round today to help with a flooding washing machine, we managed to turn off the water and get a plumber out.

I cleared up and did some basic cleaning (6 hours later ......) but the place was terrible, it has got to the stains and mess on EVERY surface, brown grime on everything, cobwebs everywhere, cleaning materials and chemicals going back to the 50s - the worst I have seen for a long time and I work with problem families. You could hardly see out of the windows and everything was caked in dust which becomes brown grime after a while.

I want to help her but risk alienating her scary carer.

She was very happy at the improvement, the dirt and dust was aggravating her and embarrassing her with visitors.

Putting the carer issue to one side, to get the place up to speed seems overwhelming.

Presumably the order of cleaning is to get rid of the junk into bags, attack the dust and cob webs and then clean, a room at a time? The walls and doors are covered with grime - would a steam cleaner shift it?

Look forward to hearing from you, nice to be able to sound off.
