  • Hi Messies, and Welcome all you new Messies. I`ll catch up later, lots to reply to in last page or 2.
Did a long day yesterday, had a late supper, but woke early....washed up last nights` dishes, took Daftie-dog out for a waddle, and smelt the lovely Autumn air... then I
decided to go for a mooch around the car boot sale! I`m off for a week now, haven`t been to car boot at all this year, and a nice stroll round the huge field seems like a great idea.
    Laters...
  • Hi everyone,

One torch has been located, it was in the car. Still no sign of number two so it's probably just gone.

This morning I got off to a slow start as I didn't get much sleep so DH did the washing up and finished sugarsoaping the living room ceiling. That motivated me to get moving so did a bit of tidying, cleaned the bathroom sink, painted the loft hatch and have started painting the woodwork in the toilet cubicle. We need a new floor in the bathroom as I took up the horrible carpet but we're not going to have the cash before our visitors arrive so I think I'm just going to water down some satin paint and give it a bit of a whitewash, it only needs to do the trick for a couple of weeks so I'm sure it'll be ok.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Ohh enjoy your week Emm! You deserve a lovely rest.

I have pea and ham casserole in the SC, cat (cleaned up last night with value baby wipes!) asleep on the sofa and mum has just been for a visit. I love every minute of her being here and am so happy for her for being able to drive herself around at (almost) eighty. She loves getting away from dad for a bit!

Edit: Not being extravagant with the baby wipes... she won't let me anywhere near her with anything else remotely capable of cleaning her up!

I used this on our very black sealant in our shower and it has transformed it.

It does smell but the good thing is you can just spray it on and leave it and shut the door. I sprayed my sealant and left it on to work for two or three hours and then rinsed it off. Then I sprayed more on and left it again. I thought the sealant needed to be re-done but apart from one or two odd stubborn patches it is all white again after using the cleaner. I used it over the course of a two or three days leaving it for whatever time I had in between going to work, until it was clean.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have ordered it. Spray on, leave and then rinse off - sounds like my sort of cleaning product! I have an all white bathroom which was only put in a couple of years ago so I'm annoyed it looks so manky.

Afternoon Messies. I hadn't realised that it's been so many days since I was last in. So many posts!

Sonastin, I do feel for you having an OH who is so unhelpful, and almost obstructive. I'd love to be able to give some advice, but I can't. Just feel free to scream at us here, if it helps.

Emms, how wonderful for you to have a whole week off work! I hope the weather improves (if you have similar weather to us atm), and you're able to take a breather or several.

Grousescot, I'm so pleased that you felt encouraged enough to get so much done! :T Not good that the sealant went so manky after such a short time. Obviously, the fitter didn't use one with anti-fungal properties.

Lleucu, as I was reading your post, much the same thing as sonastin said went through my mind. Obviously, the 'carer' is doing next to nothing for your neighbour, and that needs seriously looking into. In the meantime, well done to you for not only for being concerned, but doing something about it. Contacting Social Services is a good idea for you, too, because, if the lady has family, or the carer feels a bit put out, then you could be falsely blamed for a number of things. To protect yourself, let the SS know asap.

Faith, you sound so sad and fed-up. Life must be a bit miserable atm. <hugs> hunbun!

Jps, I used to have to occasionally clean out the locusts when I first started working at the school. Horrible job.

Hi, hugs and well done as appropriate to anyone I've missed.

It's been tipping down here all day - such a contrast to yesterday. I can see ripe fruit on the raspberries, but don't intend to go out and pick it in the rain. Had a lovely harvest service, followed by a very good 'bring and share' lunch at church today. Harvest is very special when you live surrounded by countryside, attend a tiny rural church, and fellow members are farmers! :)

I'm just about managing to keep the house in a reasonable state, without terrifying the cats - well, Star, anyway. Don't think anything scares Garfield - now known as Scarfield, as he will keep attacking Star, and has scratches to show that. While he may be twice her size, she's more than a match for him! :rotfl:

    Hi All

So glad it is raining as the washing is mounting up, but the washing machine has broken beyond repair  Have ordered a new one but not coming till Wednesday morning - did go through quidco:money: but could have done without having to spend on this.

OH went to unload WM Friday night and found the utility room flooded - thankfully he is a heating engineer so could resolve and clear without needing to spend any money, apart from the new one

I have been pottering today and sorted through all make up, smellies, jewellery, thrown all broken cosmetic jewellery, got all the gold that is broken or no longer worn and will see if OH wants to take to cash for gold.

Going to set myself jobs like this over the next few days and then next week will start to do the more usual type housework.

    All the best

Hugs GR, that's the ticket. Downtime is much more important than a bit of silly mess that will clear up in no time when you're feeling recharged... enjoy a rest!

I have had a lazy weekend - just a few loads of washing and a very light tickle round with the vaccuum.

Back to the madness tomorrow, have a great week messies, I'll try to read what you're all up to during the week!
