My home is a mess

Well what a morning it has been. Our old labrador had a big accident in the kitchen this morning and it was there ready and waiting for me when I walked in just after 7.30am. The rug was going to be cleaned anyway, but I cleared up much of it, took the rug outside and vaxed it, it is sitting across the patio table and chairs now drying.
I got the other rug, which I put down usually around October (it is a dark red colour so it's nice and warm looking for winter) and put that down instead. The kitchen floor was washed on my hands and knees and I have now gone and blitzed through the entire house, vacuuming, done four loads of washing, cleaning all the hard floors, put bleach down the outside drains, swept up the outside, put lunch on (roast chicken), cleaned the bathroom.
Just left to do is clean the kitchen (after lunch) and dust. I am pretty determined to have a sit down this afternoon after having such a huge blitz on the place.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

I stood on the worktop to see the state of the top of the cupboards, it was ok, sprayed a bit of vinegar and wiped it off. That's that done for a few years!
Did the floors yesterday and scraped some blobs of paint off the lino in the toilet cubicle. Ventured under the armchairs and sofa, found large dust bunnies - nearly as big as the actual bunnies. Got up this morning and everything looked and smelled really nice!
Hope you're enjoying your Sunday.0 -
Hi
I've started my no housework at weekends, although its now bugging me when I see things out of place downstairs so im putting them back where they belong.
Have emptied the DW and refilled and there is a load in the WM
OH will be watching the motogp soon and Mia is asleep on me as I think she is feeling a bit under the weather.
It's nice knowing that this week the housework downstairs should take about an hour the I can concentrate on getting upstairs organised.0 -

To stop the cycle of everything going to pot at the weekend I just have a set of minimum things to keep the place ticking over but it's not really doing housework. It's the really simple things that make things look ok - making my bed, wiping the bathroom sink and toilet, wiping worksurfaces, getting the washing up done and having a two minute tidy to put things away before bed. I won't do things like laundry that are ongoing tasks. It keeps everywhere looking nice but with no real effort. So it feels like I'm having the weekend off but without the downside of having things build up and finding a tip on Mondays.0 -
Lazy day - crawled out of bed at 10, took the dog for a pee, let the cats out, cleaned the litter trays, swept the floors and.. went back to bed.
Got out of bed now, put one load of washing on (cats still out so no damage anywhere - hair/litter), waiting for Asda food delivery as empty fridge - willhave breakfast then... Delivery between 2 and 4.. hmmmmm I bet they will be here 3:55,,,,0 -
I`m impressed - you all seem to be getting sorted - one way or the other, either catching up on housework at weekends or getting on top of it in the week to have a bit of leisure time at weekend instead.
Me? Well, I have just about caught up with the kitchen now!
Also changed LR rugs, a quick wizz with Henry, & got YS chicken thighs in oven in white wine sauce for tonight, and cauli/baby potatoes in steamer ready to go on.
Early night as I`ve got a long day tomorrow, but I`m going to go and do a `20 minute` timer tidy upstairs - mainly clothes...
Thanks for the pet pix GR, my DGD has slobbered at them!
JPS, I make a terrible mess with breadmaker too. Don`t use it often though.
Gillybean, I hope Mia`s `uner-the-weatherness` passes quickly.
Have a nice evening all!0 -
Afternoon Messies.
Emms, I just love the expression of 'committing pie' - it so reminds me of when OH is cooking. don't get me wrong, he's an excellent cook, but a tidy cook he ain't! At least he's learned to clear up spilled flour when he's loading the BM. I bet said pie was wonderful!
Your photos are so lovely, GR. I think ginger boys are mostly hopelessly soft. Our previous one was daftness personified - or should that be felinified? - and Garfield looks as if he's going to be the same. As for the kittens, I don't know how you couild bear to part with any of them.
Alec e, you caved into the cupboard top thing, then?
Gillybean, hope Mia gets over whatever it is very quickly.
BB, great news about your DS. :T
Jps, you just enjoy your lazy Sunday - and your new fridge freezer.
Sassia and rainydays, well done for all the de-messying.
I cleaned the bathroom basin and toilet this morning before going to church, and tidied up some of the mess of Hurricane G&S when I got home. they're being remarkably quiet this morning, but we'll probably suffer tonight. Must g out and pick the raspberries, as I don't think we'll get many more. I want to make the most of what little we've had this year.0 -
Oh.. I BOUGHT all 4 kittens, no rescue were happy to let me have a kitten from them (I work I have a dog, I live in a falt etc etc - worst possible prospective cat owner) so had to go and but those privately.
I would never breed cats, all my lot were always spayed/neutered at 6 months. Those kittens were not born here, had to buy them.
When they were about a year old, my daughter moved out and took 2 with her. In the meantime my ex dropped 2 cats on me (one had to rehome as she hated the dog) then my daughter took in a pregnant homeless cat and one of the kittens stayed with me (Macius the little horror), all a bit complicated0 -
I didn't make any assumptions as to how you got them, GR. It was just that all those kittens were so exceptionally beautiful, that I wondered how/why your DD took two with her, and you could bear to part with them. Were they her favourites, or did they prefer her company, perhaps?
My DD2 would love to have a pet/pets of some kind, but her BF would definitely not give in to having a cat - he doesn't like them at all. Having said that, he did find our elderly cat quite amusing. She's threatened to get some tarantulas, and keep them in the second bedroom (locked when she's not around) of the flat they're buying, if he won't give in and let her have some guinea pigs. :rotfl: DD1 lives in a 1 bed flat, and has a cat, but she does have a garden.0 -
My daughter took 2girls, 2 boys stayed with me
Zara suprvising cat's dinner time
And having a nap with 2 out of 4 I had at the time, they were just under a year old then0
