GR, that is a very cute video - what a daft pair! :)

Cat, I'm so pleased for you that it all went well. As for Dave Grohl, DD2 loves his music, but thinks he's really ugly. He was when he was young but he's improved with age. Never got to see Green Day - was supposed to be going with DD2 when they were doing gigs over here, but most, if not all, didn't happen.

FW, isn't it odd that, after you've overslept, the best thing is another sleep?

Well, the kitchen work top had a really good wash. Just got a glass of water before going to bed, then decided I'd get some fruit out of the fridge for tomorrow. Just caught the glass and the whole lot went over, broke the glass, splinters everywhere. Drowned OH's wallet (only the outside), a couple of letters, a cheque I'd written, plus a puddle on the floor between the fridge and freezer . Bedtime, I think.

I just typed and lost a massive post! Perhaps it's for the best ;)

For the second night running I have had trouble sleeping, very unusual for me. Up at 3am, no chance of getting back to sleep so came on here for a read. I've given in and taken a Nytol which will mean I won't be up early tomorrow but never mind.

I feel so much the same as you Buffy - swamped by mess, my jobs only partially done and no chance of finishing them before term starts again. I now feel that I have spent my entire summer exhausting myself with this and haven't had a proper rest.

I do have some progress to celebrate though - major decluttering happened this summer, and I have all but finished the painting in my main bedroom, and even put the shelves up!!

I just have to finish painting the boxroom (final coat) and then all the (mercifully clean) heaps of linen and quilting stuff can be tidied back into there. Then I MUST NOT dump stuff in the middle of the room so that it becomes impossible to get to anything.

I have to accept that the spare room of doom (the main job I set myself for the summer) isn't going to get done. It has been decluttered, but will not get decorated and done up unless I recapture some of the energy and motivation I had when I was twenty :rotfl:

I think my mental state is a bit wobbly at the moment, which I don't really get. Maybe it's hormonal, or perhaps there's a bit of depression creeping in. Or maybe it's just that we've had a crap summer and I'm lacking Vit D!

Well, onwards and upwards tomorrow. I have to go out and do a few chores, then back to finish bedroom and boxroom. Must also arrange car MOT
I really want to spend the next few days lounging in a beautifully trimmed and blooming garden, coming in to do a little quilting or rag rugging, and admiring my beautiful clean and freshly decorated home. But as the weather isn't playing, and the decorating takes at least five times longer than I imagined in my worst nightmares, that isn't going to be.

Right this post is just as long as the one I lost now! Still not very sleepy dammit. Sorry this is all about me - I am reading everyone's posts and really thankful for what you all share, ups, downs, cuties (yes, those lovely furbabies of yours GR!) and of course the ever-present mess! I am sorry I haven't responded to any, I just needed to get all that off my chest tonight.

Jspcloud - congratulations, well done :)

I managed to avoid the "spare room syndrom" - when my daughter moved out, I cleared the room of absolutely everything and that is how the room stays. Shut. Nothing goes in there.

I live in a flat but got a rather large outside cupboard plus a shed in the communal garden. Shed is ok but the outside cupboard is a nightmare - one day will get that sorted - Xmas tree, cat , dog food, cat litter - you get the picture. Full and can never find anything in there.

Today - had a c...p night (sleep apnea and treatment does not sem to agree with me most nights) so spoke to my boss and tok a day of A/L.

The plan is to organise shopping food wise as got nothing but light in the fridge (the one I forgot ermm ermmm to clean yesterday) as taking grocery challenge (only have £80.00 to live on this month so have to.. take the challenge).

Meal planning for prety much a month, bill paying and generally stressing out.

AS far as cleaning for today:

    1) Clean litter boxes (that is daily or rather 3-5 times per day)
    2) Dust all over (cat fur etc)
    3) Sweep (rubber broom) the floors

I kept the place ok since my mad day Sunday cleaning so it is not bad - no washing up etc etc. Hmmmmm

Have a nice day everyone :)

just a quick one to say
we got back yesterday afternoon and just emptied the car out into the front room.
it was really good to come home to a reasonably tidy house.
the event (that I help to set up and run over the August bank holiday) made £3K for help for heroes and £3K for a local charity. even though it rained A LOT!
boys had a great time getting filthy (I have three bin bags of washing) and my mum came to pick them up from the site yesterday lunchtime (I had managed to get them to have a shower and put clean(er) clothes onbefore she arrived) and they are away with her this week.
Just trawling my way through the laundry now, tent almost dry, first lot of sleeping bags washed and drying. ashamed to say I didn't put a load on last night.
collecting dogs at lunchtime today - dog's 'car bed' in the machine right now, got bowls out and their home beds made up. MUST buy collars, leads & tags on the way, and then get food on way back!
better go as the WM just finished and I need to get another load on...
catch up on the thread later.

  • Hello

I am putting together furniture and mess is worse than yesterday.

    BUT

    1. Cinema was fab!

    2. male friend person......... we kinda ended up snogging and er........ welll. Technically he is seeing someone else, I did point this out mid snog and to be honest it could be something it could be nothing but was definitely the hilight of my day. the man can kiss!

Am off to the pub in a couple of hours and need to finish new drawers so I can clear the clothes off my bed.

oh yes nice lady successfully took old chest of drawers via free cycle. that was brilliant!

must go eat and find a hammer

    xx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

As we had visitors at the weekend the house was spotless, DH has been back at work for 5 hours and I can see my mess appearing. The washing cycle has another 16 minutes to go so I'm going to have a mini blitz.

I have done some decorating today though and the end is in sight. I even did a couple of 5 minute tasks that I've been putting off forever.
