Today
IS clearing out the shed day.
Wish me luck ladies.
:T Nice one Buffy!
Well done also to alec and footy, and everyone getting STUFF done!
I've been out today, doing various chores, so no demessying. I've left loads of chores right till the last two weeks of the hols and still have to do... eye test, routine blood tests, a test just for women if you get my meaning, and the car mot
Hope everyone is well. I might have another go at the boxroom of doom tonight - I have a bit more energy today.
I'm very excited because a Holly Blue butterfly has just made an appearance in my garden - I've been growing ivy and holly in my hedges in the hopes of attracting them!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Well, it turns out that I am well and truly a slattern.
I was kidding myself that actually, I'm not as messy as everyone (including me!) thought - after all, I've been mostly keeping on top of the mess in our house and OH is far worse than me at putting things away.
But he's been away for a week now. The week started OK with still putting stuff away and loading the dishwasher. And then I went out on Wednesday. And again on Thursday. And again on Friday. And again for the weekend. And as I've only been home long enough to get into bed, then get up & have breakfast again, dirty dishes (DW is full of clean pots) and dirty laundry have been piling up all over the place. And the bathroom is truly minging - I think the sink might just get up and walk out soon.
I could address this by going home tonight and clearing the place up a bit. But instead I'm going to go home, grab some dinner and go out again. If I'm lucky I'll get the DW emptied and refilled! And tomorrow I might be going for dinner with my ma. And I can think of reasons why I need to be going out Weds and Thurs as well. And Friday I'll probably head over to see OH again for the weekend so there is every chance that the house will stay like this for another week.
I could do with some clean clothes though. Do you think the £14 of M&S vouchers I've got will solve that problem?! :rotfl:0 -

I love you. That is exactly what I do. I'm like the Anti- Flylady!
Edited to add, actually I may well be worse as I have on occasion bought clothes to wear because I haven't done the washing!Nevertheless she persisted.0 -

That's a normal term time for meExcept buying new clothes, I can't afford that but often wash stuff in a panic the night before I need it, desperately drying it on radiators!
Oh and except actually going out... I have quite a long commute so I get in, eat, browse around t'interweb and then pass out. I don't even have the excuse of having a life! :rotfl:I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Yes, I think Molly piggy is much more comfortable now. The others a 'punk' type, and doesn't have the same problems.
There can be few creatures who reward you for making them comfortable and happy so much as piggiesUnless it's my cat who actually squeaks in delight when she is rolling around on a freshly-laundered blankie! :rotfl:

Sonastin, that post was so funny. I also convince myself things are not as bad as they are on a regular basis!
Well done Footy and others who have done stuff! Hows the shed coming on Buffy?
Not a very productive day today. Lots of moving stuff around from one place to another and thinking about stuff that needs doing rather than actually doing it!
I have a real dilemma as my old employers have got in touch and asked if I want to work for them again. Just a few hours a week to suit me, working from home so I could fit it around my son. I really dont know what to do, part of me wants to say yes and part of me is worried that I would just be making life harder for myself.
In 2 years time my son will be 16 then I am not sure where we will be financially. He will certainly have to reapply for his DLA at that point. If I was doing some work it would help me get a job again when the time comes. I know its going to be so hard getting back into work after a long period off work as a carer. I need to think about this more. Opinions welcome!0 -
If it's not too stressful YL, I think I would go for it. You're right that it would be great to keep your hand in and if you can work just a few hours at home that's ideal... provided it isn't stressful!! If it is likely to be stressful I'd really think hard about it if you can manage without the extra cash.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Sonastin, you only get one life and, to a certain extent, enjoy yourself. You know when you'll just have to start de-messying ie when you can't actually get through the door!
Oh, on second thoughts, maybe that's why you continue to go out so much!
YL, maybe you need some 'you' time, and that doesn't necessarily mean quiet time, doing nothing very much. Working in a place where you're valued and you're making a contribution, will surely build you up. And, let's face it, you could do with some 'building up', couldn't you? As jps says, if you think it won't take more out of you than you'll get out of the job, go for it.
Well, I cleaned the hob, but didn't get around to doing the work surfaces, because I decided to try out Stardrops on the windows in both bedrooms - they were so dirty with the sun on them. Much better now, but I think I may give the surfaces a quick going over, because they're getting sticky.0 -
YL, will it be major stress? A few hours is fine a week if you have time to fit it in but not more than an agreed upon hours I would say..
Sonastin your post made me laugh! :P
Bearcub, I hate cleaning the hob. Anyone who can do it without complaining is a saint in my eyes!
Just made a massive pot of lasagna there so enough for dinners and tomorrows lunch..
Just remembered, I need to book my cars MOT as well, and get it taxed! I'm thinking of just getting it taxed for the year to be done with it, something I won't have to worry about!
No demessing done, well, the kitchen is better now that I got to cook in it. Working all afternoon took it out of me but I think I am going to make some homemade apple pie with apples from my garden tomoro as a treat!094 Sealed pot member! (7) €185 (8) €138 (9) €€250

Tata, I love lasagne - when can I come for dinner?
Cleaning our hob is no big deal, only in that OH always makes such a mess when he cooks and, without his glasses, he just doesn't notice. But he does the cooking, which I hate doing, so cleaning up after him is the least I can do.
