Hi messies :) YL - it sounds like a really good idea, something just for you, especially as you have been a bit down lately :) But yes, have a good think about it before you commit :)

Just checking in really, haven't done anything except burn half the dinner, tidy up odds and ends and take some rubbish out :o

Having an early night in an attempt to stop myself sabotaging my diet:eek:

    Hugs and goodnight! xxx

Good to see you back, Buffy. I was wondering whether we'd have to call the Fire Brigade to free you from your shed. ;)

Had a chap collect DD's old bed today. I put it on Ebay for 99p..and that's exactly how much it went for :rotfl:. As I opened the Garage of Doom, he chuckled and said it was always funny when people had huge garages and no room for the car...

I sighed, and said I'd had a bit more room before I'd freegled the shed. He then began to list his own MULTIPLE sheds full of stuff, by the end of which I felt relatively virtuous :D

Anyway, been filling walls today. And spending. Then spending some more. The old toy room has been sitting there immaculate and useless for the last few weeks, and DD has decided she'd like it as a study. So...desk, lamp and every book on her study wish list. Here's hoping...

YL - like the others, my first instinct was "sounds like it would be good for you to do something different for a little bit each week". Doing something constructive that's not immediate family-related and lets you interact with others could be the tonic you're after. And lets face it, what have you got to lose. If it doesn't work out, you can resign. Its unlikely that you'll be burning any bridges that you're reliant upon. And putting something recent on your CV will help if you need to go to back to work later. DS2 is getting old enough to take on some more chores himself which could help you to fit it in - call it the responsibility that comes with going to big school (have I remembered that right?)

Well, I managed to empty the dishwasher and put the dirty pots back in. Only managed to cook egg-on-toast for dinner, which means that the stuff I took out to defrost for dinner last week definitely won't be edible now - that needs throwing out at some point. Maybe tomorrow! Have also managed to put a load in the WM. Trying to stay up long enough to hang it out on an airer in the kitchen because otherwise it will stay in the WM until Friday! Spin cycle has started so it can't be long now.

I'm enjoying the new-found freedom to be as slovenly as I like but I do miss OH. I just hope he doesn't pop home for a surprise visit until I've gotten round to sorting the place out again. I should know by now, his plans are always so subject-to-change that he could just call one day and tell me that he had nothing he could work on for a few hours so he was coming back with no warning to sort the place out. He used to do that when we lived apart but that was a 4 hour drive minimum. Now he's only 90minutes away and I'm 40 minutes away when I'm at work  Has a mouldy bathroom ever been cited as a reason for calling off an engagement :rotfl:

DH used to have to go out first thing to buy clothes for wok when I hadn't washed them, or I had but couldn't find them. Not enough time has passed for me to find it funny yet!

I think I said we'd bought some books while we were away so they came into the house but I've been thinking about it and there are lots of things that didn't but could have done. Leaflets for places we visted, we returned them to the leaflet rack when we were leaving, plastic toys and things won on the fair, souvenirs - usually a big thing for me. Instead we took loads of photographs (already filed on the computer by DH) and we bought functional things - the books, something to wear and my favourite way to remember a nice day out - decorative tea towels, I love them, they're very cheesy but functional and it's nice to see a picture of the Great Orme and remember a day out when it's chucking it down and freezing in the middle of January.

Today I'm going to the shop for a few things, getting my hair cut, exercising and cleaning a couple more kitchen cupboards. Have a good day everyone.

Hang in there with the diet Cat! I'm doing quite well still, consciously keeping portion sizes down a bit but slipping up sometimes. I'm still losing because of the extra moving around I'm doing with my demessying adventures - I must have been up and down those stairs a hundred times over the last couple of days!

:T I'm still ALMOST there with the box room of doom! I am going to try to get that finished today, with a lick of paint and shelves up. Haha like that's going to happen... but I can dream!

That made me smile because I have to get a plumber out before I go back to school, and I'm trying to see the house through someone else's eyes before that happens... mouldy bathroom is the least of my worries :rotfl::o

I love souvenir tea towels alec - I got a few when I was in Australia years ago, and they're so nice I have been thinking of framing them. Not that I can afford to or would ever get off my lazy bottom and do it, but still

OK, one more cup of coffee then I am off to the box room of doom!

I had a free day yesterday and spent it decluttering the hard drive on the set top box (watching stuff I haven't had the chance to watch cuz we were busy on the weekend and the DSs were home last week)...

AND we've met our new dogs - they are black greyhounds and they are LOVELY. We (me and HWTHMBO) took them for a little walk with a load of other 'hounds (our DSs came too but aren't allowed to walk the dogs in case they 'take off') on sunday morning but it was SO HOT we had to turn back once we'd had a paddle in the stream. We're hoping to collect them on Tuesday next week (after bank holiday). So excited I can't wait for them to arrive. although I have virtually spent £100 on collars, leads, muzzles, falconry bells and coats, just going to have a look on amazon to see if there are anything more cost effective. Plus I've been looking at insurance for them -
Anyone got any recommendatons? we're leaning towards petplan (life cover) as no one's had a bad word to say about them... but Tesco aren't looking too hideous and direct line are (just for a change) slightly less expensive than PetPlan.

thanks jps, and well done! I'm losing too - around 4lb so far, but I reckon I have at least a pound of swelling on my nose:rotfl: I can start exercising again around now, so I've ordered a decent exercise bike from A*gos, it's coming tomorrow:j We've only ever had cheap ones with tension belts before which have been useless so having a nice one will be good :)

FA that's a big list! You've made a great start :) Hope you get good news about the job :)

I've spotted soworried on other threads - come back soworried!!:(

alec it's funny what you said about things which could have come in, especially the leaflets. I've got a pile of tourist attraction leaflets which I've kept for when I go into my Devon-sick (as opposed to homesick!) mode. It's ridiculous, I haven't even been to half of them and I can just look at their websites anyway! I'll stick them in for recycling today :)

sonastin I do that all the time - take something out the freezer for dinner then end up not using it :( It's usually YS stuff but still.....:o OH is 90 minutes away? I'd be in a perpetual state of panic!

laurel lucky DD having a study!

Today I've only done dishes. It seems to be all I do these days but at least it's a start. Waiting on a call back from the Child Tax Credits "Helpline" (a misnomer if ever there was one!). Spent half of yesterday trying to get through to them and it's still not resolved. Briefly, DD1 was accepted for her college course before her 19th b/day, which according to their website means I can get TCs for her again until her 20th b/day. However, the guidance they have in front of them in the call centre only says "enrolled on or started the course before their 19th birthday". The guy (a manager, I had to demand to speak to a manager because the first guy was utterly useless) said he'd never come across this in 8 years of working at TCs and would have to check it out, which I find bizarre to say the least!

The Child Benefit website has exactly the same wording as the CTC one, and, sensibly, their telephone operators have that same guidance in front of them. So sorting that out was very easy and I start getting CB again for her next Monday.

So, fingers crossed, it'll make such a difference not having to look after 4 people on the money meant for 3 (which is what has been happening for the last 3 years), even if it's only for a few months!:)

hugs all, have a good day! xxx
  • hello Ladies,

I am very angry today so not in a good place. and I am hungry too.

Yesterday was a bust.....the shed lead to arguments about what to do with our old hoover so instead we cleared part of the garden to put the gazebo up so I could paint furniture under it.

I need time in this house by myself in order to sort stuff out. Too hard with other people around.

am currently in a mess in my room. bit like Jps the other day, SO much mess the worse before it gets better.

    And my poor animals.

am going to find some food.

    xx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

aw ((hugs)) buffy. I'm always astounded how much worse a bad mood gets when you're hungry. OH is particularly bad for tipping over the edge when he's ready for food. And then he gets angry with me for suggesting that *whatever the current crisis is* can be resolved with a biscuit. Well the crisis is rarely resolved but his ability to deal with it gets much better!

Strikes me that living together is the cause of a lot of your problems - is there any realistic possibility of moving out? If you could do it, it would do wonders for your sanity. And might improve your relationship with your mum too. There's nowt like living on top of each other to ruin a relationship.

Cat - aye, the 90 minutes thing is a worry. I hadn't really realised it till I was typing last night. I'm keeping a close eye on his work schedule now to try to get a bit more warning (I know, should just clear up instead!) The number of times when I used to get a phone call Friday lunchtime saying "not worth starting anything now so I'm just going to set off up to yours" left me in a cold sweat - bang went the clearing up time between work & his expected arrival time! I used to pray for an accident on the M6 - you know, nothing so serious that the people involved were really hurt. Just a bit of a shunt which would cause a big enough traffic jam to buy me the time to make the house respectable! Thankfully you could usually rely on there being a traffic jam on the M6 on a Friday afternoon :rotfl:

Dinner tonight with my ma but then I'm going to go home and do at least one job. That is my baby-step plan for this evening :D Wish me luck :T

Blimey FA you are definitely going to enjoy relaxing on that holiday! It's much nicer coming back to a tidy house, so I don't blame you for having a blitz before you go. Just don't wear yourself out totally!

Buffy, hope things improve with food (I find chocolate very medicinal for those moments).

    Good luck Sonastin!

As you can tell I am spending more time on my backside than actually doing stuff, but washing machine is on constantly and I am getting to the bottom of the box room of doom now. Slowly. :o
