Evening Messies.
Hmm, what have I read?
FW, I guess, like the farmers here, this is your busiest time of year. Well done for making all the yummies - rather you than me!
Faith, congrats to your OH, but oh, what a wrench for you! Such a difficult situation for you both. <hugs>
Emms, how lovely to be able to help your DD and DGC like that.
I hope you manage to repair the fridge, Caterina, althoughit soundsas if it's not going to be an easy job.
Sorry to hear you're not sleeping well, snookey. Horrible isn't it? I'm having the same problem, though nothing to do with meds.
No Cat or soworried today?Hope they're ok.
Today, I've put away the washing-up (hardly a big task), swept the kitchen floor, and cleaned the worksurfaces. I do have to get the iron out in a while. Bought a new pair of jeans that are horribly creased, despite being hung up since Monday, and I'd like to wear them tomorrow. Spent an hour with Mum in her garden, just chatting and watching the swifts wheeling over us.Also spent a long time on the phone to DD2, who's coping wonderfully well with being away from bf,and staying with her friend. Mind you, she did spend a lot of yesterday with her ex, who's a great guy - as a friend. He was a lousy bf - lives on his own planet, Planet Rockstar, he wishes

Faith hugs Im sure things will turn out the way you want.
Bearcub I hate ironing. Everything is put into the drier if its creased. Very lazy I know. Glad your dd is okay.
Well so far Iv ,cleaned our bedroom,dd room, loads of washing ,bird cage cleaned, washing put away and my hair coloured. Tea on and coffee in hand.0 -
We don't have a drier, snookey, so it'd have to be wash and hang. Haven't got the time for that! I am one of those odd people who quite enjoys ironing, especially if there's something half-decent on tv at the same time. Of course, the latter is pretty rare, so is the ironing these days.0

Thanks for your kind words, jps
No demessying today-been to see the Olympic canoeing. No British medals, but had a great time
Still painfully stiff from shifting all that gravel (and five hours in the car).
A bit of light demessying should get me moving again tomorrow, I hope!import this0 -
Was the atmosphere good, Laurel? A friend from another forum went to see the cycling yesterday, and said she was very impressed with the organisation and atmosphere.0

Brilliant, bearcub. It ran so smoothly-the organisation was superb. All the Games Makers were so happy and friendly (and excitedly taking their own photographs).
My only complaint about the games, really, is all the cancelled football tickets. For all the talk about tickets for schools, my inner-city school was allocated the grand total of...two. I bet we could have taken five coachloads if we'd been given some of those wasted tickets, and it's the only way most of our kids would get to go. Sigh.import this0 -
Morning, I am lurking just not de-messying so I kept quiet. My back has eased off a little now.
Going to try and do a few little bits today but not much.
Laurel I am very jealous, I would love to see any of the olympics. x
12years, FW. I am glad you are still happy after all that time. That is rare these days.
Well done everyone for de-messying and giving people a kick when needed.£36/£240

Morning Messies.
I'm glad you enjoyed the experience, Laurel. I agree about the tickets, but Ive also been very bothered about the businesses that have lost a lot of money before and during the Games. LOGOC said that they'd given local businesses lots of warning and advice and, with careful planning, they'd be able to take advantage of the Games and make a lot of money. Yeh, right! So, local businesses were't allowed to make any mention of the Torch or the Games in their advertising (I know this, as one of our local pubs was given a leaflet before the torch came through the town), and people couldn't take their own picnics into Olympic venues. One business in Weymouth (the sailing venue) is likely to go into liquidation because of their losses.
Well, today I'm off the Pompey to meet up with the two DDs, and DD2's bf's mum - we've met before, got on very well. I just hope DD2 tells 'mum' about the problems she and bf are having, cos it's going to be a bit awkward otherwise. I hope the sun's going to return. See you all tomorrow.0 -
Morning everyone,
We are on holiday but as the new rabbit pen is arriving today we're having a day at home so I've been catching up on what everyone's been doing. We've had a mini blitz of the house too, DH did the floors and the washing up and I dusted, put a load of laundry on, did some general tidying, sorted the bedrooms and all that kind of thing.
We went to Ikea the other day and bought some picture frames for pictures we've had for over a year but haven't hung up yet so that's moved things on. We have done a bit of gardening and removed a lot of brambles which was hard work but we have another clear space, there are some plants to put in too so that might get done today. I think that's all.
Have a good day.0 -
Good morning messies!
I have been getting slowly worse and worse with my health, due to gaining weight. Yesterday I reached a turning point in my attitude to eating, which is genuinely a psychological, emotional and physical minefield.
I have always understood about healthy eating and exercise, and always wanted to feel full of energy and comfortable with my body. But the link to that and eating sensibly and exercising has always been missing.
I am very uncomfortable with my body now, it's severely restricting what I can do in the garden and the house, so it's time to change.
Of course I know that you have to go for "lifestyle" not "diet" change. Maybe this time I can get the balance right, allow myself to eat the things I want as well as the healthy stuff, but control portions better.
I wish I could do with overeating what I did with nicotine 20 years ago... see it as me gaining health and better finances, rather than giving something up. I just have a very strange head when it comes to appetite.
*shakes self* ok sorry about that, I just needed to say it, kind of "thinking out loud" as it were. I'm now off to do a charity shop trawl and get some frozen veggies in.
Take it easy today messies, be good to yourselves. That's my plan too! I'm going to tackle the garden when I get back from the shops.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
